There was a time when I was having insomnia. It was hard coz even if I wanted to sleep I could not even sleep. And then I have to go somewhere the next day to look for a job. It was like 2 days of not sleeping and yet I don't feel sleepy at all. But now I cannot do that. I need to sleep even for four or five hours. That would be enough for me. If I need to finish something but then I feel sleepy I will try to finish the things the next day.

It's just very tiring sometimes that even if we don't want to think and trying to make my mind go blank. There is always something that will pop into my mind, and then I would realized why is there still something on it when all I was thinking of is emptying my though lol.

Hi hestylim, my only record in my lifetime is that i had stay awake for almost three days consecutively without sleeping. It was during my tertiary level and i still remember how torturing it was.
Imagine, i did not move from my position, stiff sitting in front of the computer thinking and typing for 3 days, no sleep, no rest, only ate once or twice a day i think, and keep squeezing my brain alone for an eight (8) person group work assignment! This was my worst nightmare during college, where i had to be grouped with these selfish people.
I don't know how i did it, maybe it was the deadline that forced me to keep awake. I cannot risk myself failing the subject, so i got no choice but to complete the assignment on my own although the rest of the 7 members did not help (but they earn the marks for what i did).
And for this, i end up paying a huge price for staying awake for three days without sleeping, not eating or drinking much, and no rest. I fall sick and had to be in bed for a whole week, i lost my voice, couldn't even get down from the bed, aches all over my body, high fever and was so weak that my whole family came to visit me at my campus. @.@"
I would NEVER want to experience this ever again. Well, it is really not healthy to stay awake for days. But only when you are forced to, with no choice. It was my determination not to fail the subject and get my assignment done to meet the deadline that i was able to force myself to keep awake. .

Wow.. That's bad.. I know how torturing it was. Even now when I have to stay awake because of work, if I really cannot hold it I would take a nap - like 2 to 3 hours nap.. It helps a lot than to not resting at all..
But hopefully that day has passed. :)

Yeah, it's good to have some nap, rather than none. When you don't sleep enough, you get sick easily, get irritated, get frustrated, and also couldn't think well to complete the work.
During my peak period in my work, i have to stay back late too. I have to stay awake to complete my job as well. That happens every month, so i couldn't avoid it. Hopefully can try to regain my sleep and remove the dark circles around my eyes...people always say i have a panda eyes.
Well, hope you have a good rest and then continue with your work. Take care.

I feel sleepiness is torture. If the work is not complete. I used to drink coffee it I awake but now I can't drink coffee. It make me sick. Now i find a good way it make me awake all time and feel fresh from my mind ,don't tried too. In many years I try to meditation and finally when I feel sleepy I'm going meditate now . But I can this I try for a long time. If you can do this I sure you are happy.

Take a nap earlier so that when it's late at night, you don't find it difficult and don't feel sleepy. Also, it's good to consume caffeine it's proven that it can stimulate our body to be alertive resulting that we can be awake for a couple of late hours.

sorry for the typo. i send the same phrase... LOL my apologies. also, Energry drink also aids in staying awake. it triggers our impulses to be active resulting that we feel like waking rather than relaxing.

Drink lots of coffee or eat chocolates...When I was in college and during our exam period I don't usually sleep because we have lots of project deadlines plus reviewing for exams. What I did is I soaked my feet in cold water so I can stay awake as long as I can. Then the next day I feel like I am floating.

I don't try to keep myself awake cause it is causing me a seizure
It took me so many years to find a sleeping pill that worked and reduced my seizures
I am grateful for every night when I can fall in sleep

I can feel dizzy because of a lack of sleep, also be too tired to fall asleep at all (at those moments I am not active) but there are also plenty of situations I can stay awake to finish things or to drive 1600 km's in one piece without any rest. I think if you have to finish something a kind of adrenaline will keep you awake. If you are really that alert as after a good nightrest I don't know. They say it's proved by studies people are less productive and alert between 3 and 4 pm for example. So a break or short nap at this time wouldn't harm at all. But.. after nights/days being awake I have to get extra sleep for days since sooner or later I am broke.

Some people have a habit like to sleep late maybe that can make they still awake. Some people say with smoking they can stay awake and their eyes not feel tired but i not suggest that because that not good for health. Maybe you can try to do some exercise to make your eyes not feel tired.
