My boss at work and my other coworker constantly drink tea, have to driink 6 - 10 cups in the shift. They say the benfits of the tea, but I believe there is a limit on it, and you can drink too much. Many of the tea have cafeine, and are bad for you. It can over flow the benefits on you as well.

I actually don't drink tea, not even iced tea for that matter. I believe tea is not a healthy drink because it contains caffeine just as you stated. Caffeine is an addictive substance so this explains why your boss is drinking too much tea. It is obvious he has been addicted to tea already so he has to do something tpo check this addiction as early as possible.

Anything shall have the appropriate dose. Of course you can't drink a lot of tea, especially when you are hungry or have the kidney stone. It will make you feel worse. And sometimes the tea will work like coffee which will make you sleepless at night. And if you often drink it, your teeth will become black or brown.

Bridget Aisbitt, a scientist from the British Nutrition Foundation, says there is strong evidence that tea helps to keep the heart healthy. In studies across Europe, drinking three or more cups a day has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease. "We're not certain why they help, but flavonoids are thought to be one reason." In fact, tea is 99.5 per cent water. It can count in your recommended intake of six to eight glasses of fluid [1.2 litres] a day. Caffeine only has a diuretic effect if you consume more than 300mg [equivalent to six to seven cups] in one go."

That much tea does seem a bit excessive. It isn't that it is likely to harm them (the exception being, perhaps, if they are taking in large quantities of certain types of herbal tea that have medicinal uses). However, they will most likely need to get their teeth bleached to offset the staining. I will say, though, that (unless they are adding sugar to it) tea is a far preferable habit to drinking sugary soda, fruit "juice" drinks (the ones with a drop of juice and a ton of sugar) or energy drinks.

I love tea. However, 6-10 cups is way too much. The caffeine is not good either.

Although tea has it's benefits but they are drinking way too much! It is a lot of caffeine but also a lot of acid. I think they need to cut down.

it seems to me that i heard that tea is a diuretic which means instead of replenishing your system with water, it draws it out of your system which means you have to replace it somehow. that is a lot of tea that they are drinking. i would suggest to at least cut it in half and drink some water.

I drink lots of tea hot and iced and it never bothered me how many cups i drink a day. Now if i were to drink as much coffee that had caffeine in it i would be in the bathroom all day and not able to sleep. There is way more caffeine in coffee than in tea. Tea can also be healthy for you. It does have it's benefits, but i wouldn't drink too much of it because i did once and couldn't go to sleep one night because of the caffeine. Tho you have to drink quite alot to get or feel the effects of the caffeine in tea because it's not as strong as in coffee.

It's true that there are health benefits in drinking tea. But like any other things, if taken too much, can be harmful, too. But there had been studies showing that one can take up to 9 cups in day, depending on what health benefits one wants. You can check this link: http://blog.teavana.com/post/2008/06/25/How-many-cups-of-tea-a-day-should-you-drink.aspx

A cup is less as a mug and about 4-5 cups will be 1 liter perhaps even less. One should drink 3 liter a day of "water" and tea, even coffee is a part of that. I always drank a lot of tea as well and it never harmed me. Now I switched it into mainly green tea and white tea. I think I drink way more as the amount you mention. Next to it I drink water. No soda or juice etc. There is a lot written/said/tested if it comes to cafeine and it is not that bad at all as many claim. It's even so that cafeine helps against certain health problems. There are people who can't sleep if they drink a cup of tea at 4pm, personally I have no problem with that at all (also not as I was still drinking the black tea and before that even black, very strong coffee). Coffee even makes me fall asleep. Was discussing that lately with other people and they said exactly the same. BTW what coffee does do (tea not) is dehydrating your body easier. And if it comes to what is bad for the health I think tea is one of the last things that will be. Fast food, lack of sleep, stress, financial problems, etc etc are way worser for you health as a cup of tea is.

Drinking too much tea is not good for your health since you also know that there is cafeine in tea. I suggest you to drink one or two cups of tea a day. If you drink tea for getting energy, it is better to do some excercise when you take a break.

Drinking too much tea can have a bad effect on your teeth. Tea definitely stains the teeth. Maybe after sometime you would notice your teeth are more yellowish. Aside from that, tea is an acidic drink so it could affect the first layer of the tooth (enamel). The acid can 'eat up' the tooth minerals and after sometime you would notice white spots on your teeth. These white spots signify weaker parts of your teeth that needs to be remineralized. A more serious consequence would be dental erosion. In this case, the entire first layer of your tooth is dissolved and since the protective layer of your tooth is gone, you will experience hypersensitivity. You can ask your dentist about it. :)

Too much tea is hard on the kidneys, and if they sweeten it, they can be getting too much sugar. On the other hand if they use artificial sweeteners it is not healthy for the metabolism either. Too much of anything, even water, can be bad for you. However,it is their choice and they would probably not listen to you if you tried to tell them any differently.

I hope drinking too much tea for you isn't bad as if it is I'm in very big trouble as I drink lots of tea during the day, in fact I think I must drink about 15 or more cups of tea a day, and I drink about three cups of herbal tea as well. I don't think it can be bad for you as it doesn't have seem to have done me any harm.

The same is true with the sayings that "all that is too much is not good". Anyway, tea serves as a diuretic agent just like coffee which elevates the rate of urination. So it helps us to lose water easily the more we drink tea, I guess the effects will be the same, we need to replenished it by drinking more water. Some says that drinking tea helps in digestion, I guess it's same with coffee. I think the best is, do it in moderation.

I was thinking to drink tea all of the while to keep myself healthily. However, I found out too many disadvantages as below to drink too much of tea: 1. Remains of pesticide on the tea will harm our health. 2. The manufacture add caffeine in the tea leaves when they process them. 3. The tea leaves are mixed with artificial coloring which can fail our kidneys. From an article that I read, those who drink tea very often will always feel headache and they will have very good memory. Overall, I do not encourage any of us to drink tea so often.

There are many different types of tea. If they add sugar each time, it could get unhealthy. However, I would think that 6-10 cups of tea is healthier than 6-10 cups of coffee or soda.

Yes excess of anything is not good.Tea and coffee cantain theophylline and caffine which drain out the liquid from body as both are diuretic in action and promote formation of kidney stones and related problem. There are certain research revealed that use of more tea is also promoting prostate cancer.Too much tea or coffee causes yellowing of teeth. Therefore we should avoid use of excess tea and coffee instead we can use 2 to 3 cups of green tea everyday which is rich in natural ingradients.
