I'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee and put French Vanilla creamer in it. As I was drinking it I kept thinking it didn't taste right even though it is one of my favorite creamers. It's leaving a bad aftertaste in my mouth. I just got up to get my second cup of coffeee and looked at the creamer container and it says Sugar Free! I hate anything sugar free because of the aftertaste. I obviously wasn't looking when I bought the creamer! Do you drink sugar free beverages? Have you ever made a mistake like this?

It really changes the taste of things. Like when sodas started making sugar-free variants, the classic taste disappeared. For that matter, I think this goes true to all ready-to-drink beverages. I've even noticed that these sugar-free drinks seem to taste sweeter than the regular ones.

I don't like anything sugar free either. That explains the nasty after taste. Lol. I have made the same mistake before though, I hate it when I do that. Matter of fact last week, I bought Green Tea but I grabbed the diet and sugar free one. YUCK! Lol.

I drink coffee without sugar. When I was young, I started drinking coffee with milk and 2 sugars. When I went to college I was a chemistry major and used to keep sugar and powdered creamer in the lab. Later when I went to Iowa State, I ran out of sugar and creamer and started drinking it black. I got used to drinking coffee without sugar and usually don't add anything else unless I'm in a place where they have milk or half and half. To me coffee with sugar doesn't taste right anymore. I also avoid powder creamers and I'm starting to avoid liquid creamers that are not really milk or cream. As far as flavored coffee goes, the only kind I've had lately is pumpkin flavored coffee for around the time of thanksgiving. When you consider coffee flavorings, you might need to check if it's a natural flavor or something synthetic.

It is the first time I hear you can buy a creamer with sugar. I never heard about that and I am sure you can't buy it with us. You buy creamer and sugar separted. We use less suger perhaps 1 kilo a year and mostly because we bake something. We don't use sugar in tea or coffee (which we hardly drink), hot chocolate (made with real cocoa), in yoghurt (ours is very sour), etc. We are used to that and nobody is missing the taste. Already as a little kid I never had it. It's the same with my kids they had to learn to like sweet things and still do not like everything (yes this includes cookies, ice cream, pies, marmelade, etc). I think we all make mistakes by buying the wrong article. Sometimes being in a hurry or they changed the way the article looks like. If I can take it back to the shop I would. If it's already open I will use it. I think you can easily add some sugar to it and you have exactly the same, probably way cheaper as well.

I'm usually okay with sugar-free products if it's made with Splenda but other brands, as you said, usually have a bad aftertaste. I sometimes take sugar-free products since my family has a history of diabetes and while the taste is inferior to real sugar, I'd rather have that than get diabetes.

Well, yeah, since it's sugar free, the aftertaste may be not suits your taste. I am usually drink sugar free beverages but sometimes I like the sugar free one like coca cola zero since the ordinary one taste too sweet. I'm personally not really a fan of too sweet beverages or food. So like milk I usually buy the plain milk without sweetener added. So I think it may depend on our taste :D. However, we really need to pay attention on the label to avoid ended up like this again ^^;

I drink a lot of cordial squashes, and they've suddenly changed them to low sugar which is annoying, because you can taste the difference, I hope they are not planning to change all cordial drinks to low or no sugar, because all the sweetners they use which are artificial, like aspartame can be bad for your body. I like Ribena and by mistake I got one with no sugar, ewwwww it was disgusting, I only bought it by accident, same coloured, same shaped bottle as the normal ribena but no sugar, nasty!

wow, thanks for this. I thought it was just me. I believe I drink Coke more than most average people who drink it and I know I like sugar so when I drink sugar-free drinks like Coke Zero I feel like really uncomfortable because of the aftertaste. I complained about this to some of my friends but none of them seem to experience the same so I thought I was having some kind of health problem or taste problem but after reading this, I am just glad that I am not alone.

I need the sugar. Sometimes I don't understand why people will be so afraid of the sugar. As long as you don't eat it too much, sugar actually is good for your health. We need the sugar for our body because it gives us the energy. And sugar is good for the liver. Perhaps not so many people know that. As to the coffee, I will not drink it without sugar. Black coffee is just not my taste.

I don't buy anything that contains artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. I am a label reader; of course, a lot of the food I buy comes without labels.
I try to buy a lot of whole foods, and I am a big fan of farmers' markets and farm stands.

I do use some sugar-free products, like diet soda, but not my creamer. I love french vamilla and irish cream creamers, and I am very careful NOT to pick up the sugar-free or fat-free varities. They just don't taste the same.
In case you're interested, sugar-free jello is better, I think, than the one with sugar in it. It seems to h ave more and better flavor. The same is true, in my opinion, with pancake syrup. The regular syrup is just too sweet.

Some things just aren't the same when you take shortcuts! for instance, a smoothy with no ice. Same basic ingredient, but not the same texture!

Yuck! Yes, and I've done that by accident too. Now I'm really careful because, like you, cannot stand the aftertaste. I never liked anything that was sugar free because of that so I don't buy it, ever. I will buy Fat Free but that's it. a
