Why is everybody so down on Twilight?!

I am a big fan of the Twilight saga so it really gets on my nerves to see people slating it all the time. If you don't like it, don't watch it! That's common sense surely? But no, some people just want to annoy others and bring them down. I wouldn't say I'm furious about this, just sick of it to be honest.

Do not worry about what others think. I am a Twilight fan also. I am team Edward all the way. What team do you go for? I think Breaking Dawn 2 was the best out of all of them. The ending was so shocking to me to see Carlisles and Jaspers heads being cut off but then you found out it was just a vision. It was amazing!

There are a number of reasons why people hate on Twilight. The main reason I think being that people that BECAUSE of Twilight anyone else who wants to write a fictional story about vampires will be compared to Stephanie Meyer's vampires instead of the classic scary Dracula-type vampire. A friend of mine is looking looking to write about a vampire herself but haters keep comparing her character to Twilight just because her character is a vampire. Honestly it isn't the book I hate, it is the extreme side fandom I'm annoyed with and the extremists from each side of the spectrum. (both pro and anti-Twilight) I'm not a huge fan of the series either way, but I don't care if people like it or not and don't go out of my way to bash it. I just wish people would see that they shouldn't compare Stephanie Meyer's vampires to the classic, original vampire. Because the original vampires don't sparkle, they would die/burn on contact from the sun. But since its become so popular people who don't like Twilight go EWWW at every vampire character that's created after the rise of popularity of the series. It really isn't fair for people who model their vampire characters closer to the original Dracula, with their own twist to them.

I think, in this internet age where it's just too easy to say mean and nasty things about anything and everything, that the critics are a whole lot more whiny than usual. Lots of people don't like to admit that their personal opinions about things aren't the by-all end-all of the universe.
I love Twilight but I know it's not for everyone. I wish people could just let it go and let the fans be happy with what they enjoy. I don't stomp around on everything that they love.

I did watch Twilight and I didn't like it and wouldn't be watching the rest of the series. I also tried to read the book but didn't find it interesting, but I wouldn't bother to annoy someone who likes it, that's quiet unethical ....

I think everyone is down on it because it is crap.
It has destroyed the original vampire mythology and turned into Emo/Morman propaganda.
Put some classic hammer horror on with Christopher Lee.
Twiglet changed all the Vampire folk lore and changed them into something wet all potrayed by talentless actors

I would hardly say talentless. But that's fine because millions disagree with you. :)

Why does it get on your nerves? Not everyone is interested in the same thing. Everyone is also entitled to their opinion. It's not as if people are talking about you when they are "slating" it, as you put it. Why even care?

I am one of those who does not care for Twilight but I just do not watch it or read it. So I really don't care if others do or not. I choose not to and that's cool with me! If you like it - go for it! You are not hurting me!

I know how you feel. If people don't like it then yes they don't like it then you don't have to watch it. I liked the books and the movies. Yes the movies probably could have bit closer to the books but it was well done over all.
The next big saga I want to see is all of the Hunger games. I'm really excited for Catching Fire to come out next year.

I haven't watched the movies, but I've read some of the books... they are incredibly badly written... poor grammar and stuff, and I really don't agree with this new vampire image, for me, vampire's are dark, brooding and drink animal blood and don't sparkle in the sun :D... that just kind of makes me wanna not watch the films. But I'm not going to state that the films are bad, as I haven't watched them.

I am so into twilight until I knew about Vampire Diaries. When i haven't seen yet the Vampire Diaries I was really convinced that twilight was perfect Vampire movie and Edward is the most hot shining vampire lol :) But here's this Salvatore brothers, handsome and hot. I am still watching twilight saga and finished watching breaking dawn part 1 and 2 and it was nice!

I think everyone that is down with 'Twilight' are on the level of the real vampire flicks and books out there that just outshines the whole genre. I loathe it, because it's focused on a love story rather than blood, fangs, and guts. That's just me.

Yes. All angst, no real fangs. It's a love story that blatantly hijacks the vampire niche to exploit an audience.
Hmm. Let's see. I have a story about a girl who moves in with her father, falls in love with a bad boy, ignores the good boy who is the better fit for her, and disobeys her father and falls into a deep depression while longing to be with him.
How can I sell this very weak portrayal of teen romance and angst that I'm recalling from my own life to actually make it a story?
Oh, I know! Vampires!

I love twilight but not everybody does
We all have different opinions
And we have to respect them
I know sometimes it is annoying to hear it all the time but I guess we have to live with it

I'm not sure that it's really a case of people watch it to annoy others. Although there certainly might be some. I think it's more a case that Twilight is big right now. So it's in everybody's face, whether they want to see it or read it or not. And Twilight seems to be one of those things that causes a lot of people to have an extreme reaction - either pro or con. So it's in people's face that have formed an extreme dislike to it - you're gonna hear about it.

I never wanted to watch it and I haven't read it, but I was practically forced to watch it with my friend who was crazy about it.
My friend had to read it since she is a middle school English teacher and she was really disappointed with both the messages of the book (glorifying unhealthy relationships) and the poor writing standard it sets.
