Today the laser printer is already less expensive and I can afford it. Whereas the inkjet printer needs to buy the inks whereas the cost is much more expensive. And you have to use the inkjet printer now and then so that its ink will not be dry. The laser printer doesn't have this kind of problem. So if I will buy a new printer, I will choose the laser printer for sure.

Hi youless!
If I am not mistaken, the laserjet prints in black ink only? If that is the case, I would still prefer to use inkjet because my children would sometimes have some assignments which they need to print in color.
Have a nice day!

No, there are some color laser printers. The one I'm using now is a Fuji Xerox CP205. Laser printers used to be bulky in size too. But this one is just about the same size as any HP inkjet printers. The color printing comes out much better in laser printers than in inkjet printers.

Oh, I don't know about that. Perhaps I could consider that one. Actually, I just bought my new printer recently. It is an hp inkjet printer. But I want something which has a scanner and a copier. I hope laser printers have that features also.
Thank you for the information sishy! Have a nice day!

I have always preferred the inkjet printers and do not consider them to be too expensive to run. I admit that the genuine inks are very highly priced and they would make using a printer regularly an expensive practice, but I always use the compatible inks. I prefer Epson because the compatible inks are far easier to buy than most other makes, and I have had no problems with the quality of them either.

Basically, it depends what you are working on. The price of laser printers did go down but not their toners as compared to the inkjet ink cartridges. Also, inkjet printers are much more versatile than the laser ones.
So it is still inkjets for me at the moment.

it all depends on how many copies we want per month.

Yes, you make a good point on it. Several years back, when the printer technology is still not so advance, inkjet printer may sound like a better choice when compare to the exorbitant price tag come with the laser printer. But today the price of laser printer is coming down and it is quite affordable for individual home office use, another advantage is that the owner doesn't have to constantly change the ink cartridge with laser printer, and it seldom becoming an issue if you are not doing printing everyday, there is no ink inside the laser printer to give you headache. Imagine how troublesome it is for the owner if she has to worry about dry ink inside the printer for not using it regularly, it will become dry out and have to change the ink cartridge on a constant basic, the owner probably have to pay more if you take into consideration on the number of cartridge she has to buy each month, the advantages laser printer provide is quite obvious in here. I notice that happened when my friend has an inkjet printer for home use, it still require to buy many ink cartridges to replace those dry out one when the printer is not working every day, it is indeed much costly to maintain than laser printer.

for writing on paper, big ink bottle costs nothing when compared to 8 ml ink cartridge printing about 60 copies.

Over the many years of owning a computer, I have only ever ONCE purchased a printer, and that was a big mistake it was a Canon printer and I had so much trouble with it, in the end I sent it back and got my money back, it put me of Canon, I have always used cheekily the printer at work when there was one so it cost me nothing to print. I would find it difficult to know which printer to buy if I ever needed one. So I have learnt something from your discussion to choose a laser printer over an inkjet printer thank you.

There is a Canon fax/scanner/printer in our office, and it doesn't work well. It has some problems but it will cost much to fix it. So compare to it, at least the HP printer has a better quality since it had been work for over 10 years.

i have one inkjet printer at home... although laser printers print better - no smudging, no ink-blockage, etc - i will still opt for inkjet printers.. reason being - my children are the ones mostly using the printers to print their school assignments and stuff, and sometimes they require prints in color - color laser printers are still expensive, something i dont i can afford for now...

If the laser printers are cheaper now then I am going to definitely have to check in to this.
My ink cartridges are $26 each and I can easily go through 1 a week!
Thanks for mentioning it....might be something big to tell hubby I want for Christmas.

Inkjet printers do cost less than Laser-jet printers but buying cartridge is expensive and gives comparatively less printing than most laser-jet cartridge.
I have an inkjet printer and I regret not going for a laser-jet .....
I agree with, buying laser-jet is far better option ....
