Money, Money... all about money

Robert Kiyosaki has a point.
"Money does not make you happy. But lack of money can cause you unhappiness."
I say... Those who think that money is not important are in delusion. It is one of the best excuses cleverly created to be lazy. Another reason is avoiding judgement of other people. Who would want to be called "mukang pera"(gold digger)? No one does! But those who blurt those words are definitely broke.
The way i see it, those who aspire to grow (financially and other else) are making full use of their God-given talent.
Reading from the parable of the talents, we need to utilize whatever God has bless us with. If we do, He will increase us even greater.

I agree, we have to do what we can to survive. We have to do what we can to make our golden years golden. I see how elderly people struggle, and know it would be much easier for them if they had a little "nest egg" to rely on once they are retired. We have to use the resources available to us to survive.

Yes, and I believe having real concern with others is one key to being more prosperous in life in every areas and that includes having more money. I remember the saying of zig ziglar "you can have everything you want if you can help others get what they want", so in this saying it speaks about focusing more on other people and what you can do to help them out. The law of compensation is always there to reward you afterwards :)

Money will only make you happy if the things that make you happy are possessions and only possessions. Not having enough money to buy the things you need can quite often make you depressed.
However, there is a big difference between the things we need and the things we want. I have been both well off and poor and I did not find happiness in possessions but I did become depressed when I was poor because I could not afford things I needed.
I find that balance is very important to me. When I was younger I worked long hours and had no time for anything except eating sleeping and working. I had no time for a social life or family and after a number of years that started to hurt me in the same way that not having the money for needs did when I was poor.
So I do not see it as simply as you do. There is a big difference between being rich and being poor. I have no interest in being rich and I hate being poor. I desire just enough money to provide for my needs and a few luxuries now and then. Now I am old I value having the time I want to enjoy my life. I see no point in devoting my life to work at the expense of time with those I love. To me that time is precious and you cannot wait until you are old to enjoy time with your loved ones because they may not be there when you are finally ready to give them some time.
So the balance between work and life are more important than making lots of money.

I would add that I sacrificed my life to work, never got married and had no children. Now I am nearly 60 and have no children and never will have. I became ill and had to quit work and most of my money has been invested in my home so I have little left for the future. I have no children to care about me and as the youngest in my family I face a future alone. Money could buy me comfort but that is all. It can give me security but not happiness.

Most time, I don't think money is the most important in my life. But my mother always tells me that money can buy all things and she always tells me that someone buys a expensive cloth, house...... So now, I go to work and the same as my mother, I think money is important in my life, as least money can make my mother happy.

I agree that money is important in life and is one of the necessities, so it would be false for anyone to claim that money is not necessary in life. Although I won't say it's the most important thing in the world which is an extreme belief, I would still claim everyone has a need for it to survive and and I would go further that there is nothing wrong in desiring more money as long as you work honestly in gaining it and that you have good intentions in getting more of it.
If selfishness is detached from the desire for more money, then I guess having lots of money would be good to any generous person who could use it to help a lot of people as well besides himself or herself.

as regards the parable you have read. please don't take it literally. parable as it is, there are meanings beyond the symbolism. indeed, money is important. we need it for commerce. however, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil
(I Tim. 6:10). money, per se, is not evil, but the love of money is the root of all evil.
so there's nothing wrong if you have a lot of it, just be sure to use it for good.
do you have a lot of money?

I agree we need to grow and we need to utilize our God-givven talents. However, I don't agree that not believing money is important is always a bad thing.
I think people can grow in many ways other than financially. I work long hours every day - some days only 10-12, others closer to 16-18 (I don't think I could be called lazy). I teach. I help others grow intellectually. I go to school as often as I can as a student - I teach at my local community college all the time - so I can continue to grow intellectually. I'm studying new things online all the time. I'm currently working toward certification in Microsoft office. I'm also working on improving my social skills. Being on MyLot is one of the ways I'm doing that. I think it could be said that I'm growing as a person.
But money isn't that important to me. As long as I have enough money to get the necessities like food, shelter, clothing and things like that, I'm happy. And I'm definitely not concerned with being judged negatively by others. Frankly, I don't care. But I actually think, if I took a job that paid well, any judgement I heard would be about doing something I didn't like instead of putting me down because I made too much money. (That's probably largely because of my culture that values making lots of money.) I really don't think I'm deluding myself.

I do think you need money to survive, but I think too much of it can sometimes be a very bad thing. The more you have the more you think you need.

Money is only a sort of thing for us to live. This might be given us happiness but not enough for us to be contented. Money is important in all the aspect of life but if you love money more than anything. That is a delusion that make us to ruin our life in the end. We need money to live but not on the extend we make it as our God and definitely forget the creature...

money is important to the basic necessities , and maybe more if if have more than we need and we use it to alleviate some or the less fortunate and make life more bearable for them ,but if it is the sole focus of existence which is to make as much money as we can ,what is the point of living when all the time we are focus on only one subject, what about ,smelling the roses, go travel experience things, life is to short to live our whole lives revolving around mainly one thing and no time for any thing else.no ned to be reminded the rooot of all evil, so i think we ought to live whether we were born with a silver spoon or self made privileged position, less we forget ,money is important but it is not everything, mind you , tribespeople in borneo and amazon don't even know what money is about and they are just as contented with their lives

Money isn't everything but everything needs money and I agree with what Kiyosaki said about the lack of money. That situation would cause great unhappiness especially if you have a family. You'll feel very inadequate if you cannot provide for your family.

Money indeed does not make us happy. However, if we have lots of money, there is a way to be happy too. We can be happy by giving some of our money to those who need it most. Have you ever done this? I haven't as I haven't lots of it. But I think it will be the most wonderful feeling to think that we have helped others all because we have resources. Don't you agree?

Yes, MONEY is very important in our life and without it or lack of it will do more harm than good in our life. Without money, we can't give our family quality life. We have to provide them shelter, food, clothing, education, medicines and many essential things and all these requires money. But we must understand that life is not about money! Although, we want financial freedom, we must be honest in earning all the money we earned. We must truthful in dealing with other people and not deceive them to earn easy money.
Have a great day.
Ciao!

I remember one of the popular song of ABBA "MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. it says and I quote I work all night, I work all day to pay the bills, I have to pay. ain't sad, and still there never seems to be the single penny left for me. I love this line which is very true all people need money in order for us to live and survive. Well call it sometimes mukha pera if you didn't work for it and get that money in an easiest way. Truly God given us talent, give us all sources for us earn money it's up to us on how we use this in a proper way at the same time do not misused those talent that we have for us to earn money in an illegal ways. And multiply our talent in a nicest way to earn money. Have a nice day ahead.!

Money is really important especially these days. I think almost everything involves money. In order to take care of your health you will need money to buy healthy foods and vitamins. If you want good education you will also be needing money in order to send your kids to a good school. Admitting that it is important doesn't mean you will do just about anything for it, it is just the truth and everyone should strive hard to earn in order to live a better life.

I owe a lot of debt, and I definitely need money to pay them off. I work hard, and I have to work to make money. I won't steal, nor cheat people to get that money though. I knew some people who put a trap on others to step into it, like a scam. A guy who I thought can be friend trapped me into once, and I hate him like my worst enemy from now on. We all need money to survive, but we can't lose our mind when it comes to money too.

Hey who does not wants to or like to have the money? Each and every person on this earth whether they are poor or rich will always want to have money Even if they have the sufficient money to keep their generation and generation happy even then they will run after the money.
We all knew without money we are nothing in this world. It is the money that brings us fame and name and we can do wonder with the money.

Money is a protection in so many ways. As long as we are able to provide the necessities of our life we can be happy. It's when we aren't able to take care of our basic needs that we become overwhelmed, stressed, and depressed. It is such a good idea to make sure that we have a savings. This will allow to be able to better enjoy our life and not be overly stressed out about financial issues. Also keeping a simple lifestyle and view of material possessions is a good thing.

Not all the times that money can make us happy. But we need money in order to survive. And if we don't have money we can't be happy because we can't get our wants.I often heard of that word also many times and I think its a hearsay for many people because of some bad experiences.Real happiness comes from natural wealth not from material wealth.

Give a broken-hearted woman an amount of money for shopping and let's see if she won't be happy...just kidding. The quote is true, I've come from a poor family and we are not so happy sometimes for the materials that we can't get for lack of money but at the end of the day, we are healthy, we are together, we are simple but happy.
