Job Applications Nowadays

I remember the time when we had to make sure to buy the Sunday paper because that is when all the good job postings are done. There was even a whole section just for job advertisements back then. This was before the age of the internet where you would be armed with the Sunday paper, dressed in your best and loaded with copies of your bio data or CV.
But nowadays, you can just go online and browse through jobs. You can even apply online and if you are qualified you will be asked to come for an interview. Unlike before, it was a big dilemma especially here in my country where it was rare for households to own a phone because it was expensive. You would need to be friends with your neighbor who owns a phone because you will be listing down their number as the one that the office that your applying to can contact. And the process before was more tedious. It would take days, even weeks for your application to get processed.
So I can say that the new generation of job seekers are luckier because they don't really have to spend much time and effort applying for jobs.

It's true that technology has helped a lot of people find jobs that they are looking for specifically. But there is so much competition going on nowadays, so we have to be at our best when applying for a job.

In this Internet age, job applications have been automated a lot. Having a good job profile in LinkedIn or any other job portal will fetch good job opportunities. Most of the time you will find jobs come to your way instead of you going in search of a job.

Hi here in the USA in the old time when you did
a paper job app. and met the owner some times
the owner will give that person a chance
for the job now with today the owner do not see any
one and have lot of job app. for only 1 job
so it harder now geting a job.

But in Kerala ( India) we are getting vacancy news on Saturday. we too looks first about this vacancy on Saturday's newspaper. But i thinks most of he peoples are depending on internet, because it is a biggest source. but there were lot of scams. i too searching good job since 3 years on internet.

It was harder. You had to walk to a store to pick up an application. If you didn't have a phone, you walked just to ask if they were hiring. And if they weren't that was a long walk for nothing! Nowadays it's easier. You can just go online, look up a store or job, and get instant results. Fill out multiple applications in less that an hour. Chances are, if those places are hiring, you will get a job offer from at least one place.

Nowadays you have to go online to apply to any kind of job. Used to you just went in the place that you wanted to see if they were hiring and fill out an application there. Now they make you go online to their website to feel out an application. Nowadays you do everything online. Large companies have even went to having their customers pay their bills online.
