Today, I assisted the PEZA(Philppine Economic Zone Authority) people who pre-inspected the building of the BPO that will be re-opened comes first quarter of 2013. After that, I led them to the affiliate’s restaurant and a buffet lunch (eat all you can) with them. Last Saturday, I had dinner with my boss and some Duty Free officials who has opened their store in our company’s mall the next day, in the same restaurant. As I think about such bonuses (the free dinners and lunches ), which is part of my job , I feel happy and thankful. I always get to entertain my boss’ guests with her or even in her absentia. Oftentimes, contractors would send us pizzas or snacks whenever they get their big amount of checks. Do you have these kinds of added bonuses on your jobs too, friends?

Although this is not allowed in our office as part of our business ethics (especially since I belong to the Purchasing team), but yes we do received once in our life some gifts like pizza, cake, and the likes... but we eat them secretly And I also have assisted our colleagues from our Korea and Japan offices who brings customers here to visit and observe the farm operations. And I was also invited to dinner. In fact one just happened 2 weeks ago. Our colleague from our sales office in KOrea brought their customers with them and had them toured around our Philippine operations. Then they invited me to have dinner with them. I also enjoy these times because I get to meet different kinds of people and learn from their culture as well. And I also earn new friends from all over the world.

Actually, this gift giving can't be avoided in our office. Much as we would like to prohibit it, it seems that the supplier would be humiliated when we refuse them. Oh how nice that you get to meet other nationalities and have dinner with them . I really would like that too. And do they order foods of their nationality?

I wonder why there are a lot of people who cannot eat "balut". It is really very nice when our jobs sometimes would require us to entertain our guests, and choose restaurant at our own choice.

One time I had a boss who was really strict at it. A trucking company sent us one whole lechon in the office. But coincidentally, they had some issues with the trucker that time. She really had it returned to the trucker. But we were like wow "sayang" The Koreans that I've accompanied, they also eat Filipino food. But mostly, we include seafoods. We also let them try to eat durian and balut. They said they will eat durian again but balut? not anymore.

That's good that you got some bonuses on your job. I don't have much work experience and still looking for a job. It sucks, I'm still in the unemployed situation. But it be cool to experience about bonuses and promotions on a job.

Wow. I envy you. Aside from the bonuses that you mentioned, you get to have a close bonding relationships with your clients. In that way, if ever you plan to change your future, you can apply in their company and for sure, you can be hired by them because they knew you already!

Some of our clients and suppliers bring foods in the office during their collection like pizza, ice cream, donut and pancit which we really enjoy all the time. That usually happened during Friday since it is the collection day for checks. We really enjoy free treats from them.

Wow, what nice perks you've got there going on for your job! We also get some snacks or small tokens from our clients whenever a deal was closed as a sign of good partnership and appreciation for any assistance that we have rendered. But in my previous work, we get employee discounts when it comes to electronics. Sometimes those who have no boxes or dirty boxes which, of course cannot be sold at retail are being raffled to us.
