University is no longer a fresh word to people nowadays. Since the beginning of this century, more and more youngsters choose to enter university or collage after they have completed the study in high schools rather than to join the army or become an apprentice. People attend collage or university for various reasons. Some people consider collage or university as a challenge and others take it as a new experience. In my Opinion, I think that people attend collage or university to increase knowledge, meet new people and develop a career. Another words a collage or university degree often helps a person achieve his goal with more ease. However, do we attend university or collage just in pursuit of a degree? Does a university or collage only provide us nothing beneficial besides a paper-made diploma? What your opinion friends?

Well my friend I will let you know on a little secret :) This was actually revealed to us by several teachers here in Romania's universities so here it is: Your main gain from a specific university is a way of thinking and to know that information on your field exist and where to find it, you are not supposed to be a full hard disk of information when you graduate, but an intelligent entity with the ability to find what you seek and apply what you have learnt..

I'm one of the people who went to a University right after I graduated high school, I don't regret it at all! I personally went to a college university for various reasons. The main reason being I wanted something new. Most of the students I graduated with in high school seemed to all go to community colleges in our hometown, some didn't even go to college at all. I was one of the small majority of students who went away to a university. I think the people who chose to stay in our hometown & go to a community college did that because the cost was lower; many of the students I graduated with didn't come from families who could afford to pay for their education, so community colleges saved them a lot of money; and also many students I graduated with were used to being together. I graduated from a small school, so everyone seemed to know each other. Going away to college even seemed to scare a few of them due to the thought of having to meet new friends all over again, but the thought of branching out is really what I wanted. I ended up going away to a big university that was about 12 hours away from where I had graduated from. I loved it there! (Love*) There were so many different kinds of people to meet & there was always something going on around campus! It's nothing like high school once you're in college. You have more freedom & there's just unlimited opportunities!

Well, in my country, it is important, because you are going to have better options when it comes to seeking for a job. Nowadays, every company, to seem more high.profile and quality, ask for a college or university diploma, even for a simple and easy administration or receptionist job. Unless you're really good at physical work or you go to a high school where you can learn a trade, you're only going to get physically demanding, low-paying, horrible jobs, if you have no university degree.

In fact,University not only provide us a degree, but also give us some kownledge that we can get in middle school. And i think a man after collage would kown what he want to do,and how to get success.

Why not if you are given the opportunity? Since nowadays this what usually the company required for applicants. This is where you enchance and sharpen your basic knowledge to achieve more for your career, and as a person you want to be.

High school education is not worth counted expect something that allow a student to study further. It would be good if this education system should be renewed and make the study year less.

Many people nowadays believe that in order for them to be stronger and wealthier in life, they have to have a good secured job. Most people now think like this and that is why they go to college in order to, as you said, start their career. They believe that they will only get a good job if they are going to attend college and earn a degree. They believe in the power of hard work which i agree upon. I for one am attending college for my own personal reason. That is to gain knowledge and information in order to start my own company in the future. Many people study hard to earn a living, but some people that became successful are the ones that studied or worked smart, they seldom finish their college course yet they became successful like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. I don't know most reasons of people attending college but this 2 is the most common case i have known. Good day to you!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, the reasons of going to college or university is different for different students. While for some it is a means of getting a degree that would help them in the long for others it is a means of having fun with their friends and misutilizing the freedom given to them by their parents. I think the real definition of college or university is missing these days and it is increasingly becoming a place of having fun and entertainment with your friends. What say?

It always depends upon the person, not all who attend and finished college became successful in life. I remember reading that Bill Gates dropped at a Harvard and formed Microsoft, but he still became known, famous and successful in life even though he did not finished college. For me, entering college is only a bonus part on your life where you can gain new knowledge. It'll help you to enhance which career you will take on your road to success. btw, I believe that grades is only a number (if you know what i mean :P).
