...and it doesn't stop!
It's been how many days now - 1,2..4..7 oh my a week already - and my cough is still here.
Everyday my boss asks me if I'm okay. The first few days, I said no.
Today, he asked me again, I said "I'm alright" - with a husky voice.
He even imitated my voice touching his throat. I want to laugh but I don't want to cough so I just kept quiet.
I wonder how many days this cough will stay here. It gives me sleepless nights because I have to cough before going to sleep and cough in the middle of my sleep.
This is so annoying.

There is something called "walking pneumonia" and this is what you might have if you don't go to the doctor to find out.
I hope by this time you are feeling better. The only cough syrup I take when I'm like you is Robitussin DM. It has an ingredient in it that will loosen phlegm and stop the coughing. If you have other symptoms though that are persistent, you need to go see a medical professional...in other words, a doctor, whether you like it or not.
If you let this go too long, you will end up in the hospital. Take care.

Oh dear... you did not go to the docs and we here at MyLot arent good doctors, we would need many reports and tests to be done before we give you any prescriptions. So better you consult your local doctor. Try a new one if the one you know doesnt make you comfortable, but do get yourself checked.
I could prescribe you some homeopathy doses but now that the cough has stayed for so long, I am unsure how these prescriptions from me would work.
All I can say is take care and consult a doctor soon

hello, sis! Haven't you gone to a doctor? A week of coughing ain't good. You might end up having pneumonia. You should be taking antibiotics by now coz simple cough medicines would not help.

Just have your eyes blindfolded! Better to have yourself checked by the doctor before you get even sicker.

Thanks, friend.
Yes, I have taken medicines. On the first days of my cough, since it was dry, I bought some meds that could let the phlegms out. And it did, so the next thing I bought is for the cough with no phlegm. Now, I'm not drinking anymore meds because I want to take a rest from them.

Maybe you need rest for a while, take a leave from work for a few days with medication of course ( I use herbal). That's what I do because travelling and stress at work could worsen it.

Tomorrow is holiday so I have a free rest. I will try my best to be well tomorrow so I can resume work on monday. I still have to work on Saturday but I took a leave since I have to go to a wedding. But if this cough won't get better until tomorrow, then I cannot go to the wedding.

I didn't go to see a doctor.
I'm quite upset with them.
Last year, when I had this kind of cough, they just gave me some medicine that a pharmacist could advice me. I mean, I paid for their service but it's not orth it so I hate going to them.
I always drink warm water and the other day, I bought some peppermint tea.
I can't say if I'm better now. I still cough the whole day and it's really embarrassing when you're in the office - and everybody's quiet except you.

Don't take cough for granted. Persistent cough that won't go away despite taking medications might need you to see a doctor. I have a nun friend who thought that her coughing was normal cough and only purchased over the counter cough syrup. She doesn't have fever but only cough. What started as minor cough slowly worsened and she could no longer stand her cough that continued for weeks so she went to see the doctor. She was so shocked when the doctor told her that she needed to undergo blood test as her coughing was abnormal. The test came out and confirmed that she has cancer. The cancer spread so fast that within a year she passed away.

OH MY GOSH!
Sounds really alarming...
Okay, tomorrow will be the last day of my work for the week, Friday is holiday here and I will tale a leave on Saturday. I will see then if my cough will worsen. Maybe it just needs some rest. I just hope it's not like your nun friend.

Maybe you need antibiotics already. Why don't you try see a doctor and get a prescription? I hate coughs so whenever I feel like I am going to have colds because coughs usually start with this, I'd do everything to fix it immediately.

I thought I did the right thing. From the first night of feeling like I'm having a sore throat, I already bought some lozenges and took them.
But it became worse the next day until it continued to give me pain on swallowing.
I will try this last chance. I will take a rest tomorrow since it's a holiday.
If I don't get better until tomorrow, then I will go to the doctor.
I hope, I hope and I wish, I wish that tomorrow I will be better.

Oh, I had something like that last year, around this time too. December 2011. I also remember losing my voice by the second week. You know how long before my persistent cough went away? After 1 month. Seriously! I think the only reason I got well eventually was because I exerted all my drained energy and had myself checked by a doctor, an internist, who prescribed me some coughing meds and antibiotics. I hope you are now okay by this time. If not, then please do go for a check up. Be well!

The antibiotic prescribed to me was Clarithromycin, once a day for 7 days. Plus gargle with Bactidol, twice a day.

I have a site that may help you. It has very good natural remedies. http://earthclinic.com/CURES/coughs.html It has remedies for many things, so you can look up anything that's bothering you. Some of the remedies call for apple cider vinegar. It should be organic. This is much better. If it's not it doesn't always work.
Good luck. I hope this helps.

Hi adnileb, go see a doctor. Cough is a viral, and you need antibiotic to cure that. Besides, you need to take cough medication to recover. Otherwise, keep coughing like that would hurt you throat.
And bear in mind not to blow air-conditioner since you are coughing, or you might loose your voice. That was what my doctor said when i had bad cough recently. Take care, wish you speedy recovery.

Try to drink some hot-warmed water (but not too hot, make you it's tolerable to your throat)...do not drink cold or chill water under the air-conditioned since you are in office. It will sooth your throat and cough. Each time i felt like coughing, i will drink hot-warmed water, and it will stop me from coughing. But i still recommend you to pay doctor a visit.

Have you tried putting moisture in your rooms either by a vaporizer or getting your bathroom really steamy and seeing if it helps. I would go to the doctor if it does not get better soon.

not calamansi
Honey and 1000 vitamin c like vitamin water
Oh..two spoon honey with warm water then mix it and drink it right away
about 15 minutes more, you drink that vitamin water of 1000 vitamin C. Don't drink any capsule, cause vitamin water work effectively than capsule
If you wake in the middle of the night because of cough, drink some hot to warm water. it will help you to reduce the cough
do you feel better now?

You mean honey and calamansi?
I think what's lacking to me is the "tightly sleep".
I've been sleeping so late since I had this cough. Well, it won't make me sleep.
I always cough and it also wakes me up in the middle of the night.
Anyways, I will try that and we'll see if it will work for me.
Well, I hope so.

It is cold season here and there are a lot of very sick people running around. I wouldn't go to the doctor here right now unless I really had to. I would suggest some warm tea or coffee. I am not a coffee drinker but I have drank it for certain purposes before.

During the first days of my cough, peppermint tea seem to give some relief. It's not that cold here but I think the changing weather gave me this cough. In our office, it's cold then when you go out for lunch, it's hot then you go back again in the cold office.

Well, Professor, my cough went away for a few weeks and then my dear "asthma" visited me last week. So I bought some anti-asthma syrup and I'm feeling better and better everyday. I know next day, asthma will be leaving me and I hope not to see asthma again. Thanks for your advice anyway. I'll take note of that.

Be careful with it. My mother went to the doctor because she had a terrible cough that would not go away either and they put an IV in her with steroids, she was dehydrated and had a fever. The doctor told her she was ONE day away from being hospitalized and put on a ventilator!
Just be careful with the type of thing, sometimes its not something to play with...I hope you get better soon and the cough goes away!

Thanks!
The cough is still here but I'm getting better now. I slept early last night after drinking the new cough syrup I bought. And this morning, I coughed the phlegms out. Maybe the medicine I'm taking now is works for me. I just hope I will continue to get better.
Does your mother have an asthma? I have an asthma and thank goodness it didn't mix with this cough or else it's would be really worst.
