I guess that title question might not clarify what I am trying to say here. As you might know, majority of businesses nowadays might link their home page to either facebook, or twitter. They might also from time to time to check on customer feedback on those website, or respond complaints also. Lately, I try to reflect my dissatisfaction toward Direct TV service, on their customer service twitter link, but it seems they don't care, and they don't want to hear more complaints from others. So, maybe those social media sites won't get them the attention. What other methods might work well to get their attention, like better business bureau?

the way I see it, social media is only a place for a business to introduce their products, events or promos; I saw many complains on the business facebook sites and seems to be ignored.
so I think, a more open media will get their attention; I have experience once; I had problems with my newly bought Air Cond, I called them and they ping pong me to call other service centers; it ended up when I say "if this problem is not fixed; tomorrow you can see a story about this in newspaper", someone claimed himself as Branch Manager called me about an hour later, and he cleared everything with a special treatment.

The other way is write directly to them or open the discussion on some Forum where surely some of the members will take part and will share their views. Also you can start the discussion on Facebook among your friends and invite other people to take part in it. I am sure by some ways message about your discussion will reach to Direct TV (in your case) and they might respond you too.

I believe the best way to make a customer complaint is to contact the company directly either with a phone call or a letter. When you use social media sites, you probably won't get as much attention, because you're not dealing with them in "person." How many people look at their twitter or facebook complaints? And if they do, they might not take them seriously (shows how little they really care). I would call them directly, and if they don't respond within an appropriate amount of time, switch companies.

I think that whether your complaint is paid attention to or not depends on what problem you will reflect.Maybe they just care about what is related to the commercial value of their TV service. However, after all we don't know the truth. If you can access to the business bureau, you can have a try.

I think its pretty useful when contacting certain companies but not all. For example, a few official pages of GPT sites I use, use Facebook to interact with their fans and they are really active on their page. One of these pages I follow on facebook is swagbucks. They post a lot of useful things on their page including codes for points and have a lot of fan interaction helping everyone else out. But for bigger companies like the ones you listed, it's probably better to contact them directly via phone or email till you get whatever problems you have resolved.

For complaints I have for business's I will use the internet to find away to contact them. I will go to their site and find the "contact us" link to see if they have an email to use or a contact us form to fill out. I will do that. I will also go to facebook to find their page to post a comment. Usually they do not answer them, yet they do read them, this I know. Some have actually replied to find out away to resolve the problem.
Depends on the company and products that we have to let the companies know the problems of. Some actually care and some do not. Does not matter how the contact is done if they do, they will.

I think that would be the best office to go to to file a complaint. Sometimes, business would ignore complaints which they think are minor. Not unless they receive a memo from a higher office will they put an action on your complaint.

when I have a problem with the company, I usually send an email to them. There are times when I want to be lengthy about the problem that i ant to be redressed. The people I contact with respond but as with email,it takes time. I don't' usually post my problems with them on social networking sites because they are used for promos or company announcements. I don't think they really scroll down and read everything posted in their page or tweets. Unless they have the people and time for it.
