Complacency

I have been having a hard time with my studies lately. It is because almost everyday, our teachers give us endless and difficult quizzes that make my mind staggering. I am so stressed. But then, I wouldn't be if only I have studied enough. The problem is, I haven't studying enough. I do not really know the main reason, but my mind cannot concentrate if I study. I am too complacent and it gives me guilt. What could I possibly do to get rid of, or at least mitigate this "complacency" issue?

Studying can sometimes be a drag. It's one thing a lot of us don't like doing, but have to in order to pass a course and graduate eventually. One tip that might help fight off 'complacency' is to have a goal in mind. But this goal shouldn't be trivial or the usual "I want to get a good job and get rich" kind of goal. Think of something deeper than that. Like who would really benefit if you graduate from school. This motivates me to study.

I agree. Try also to see the bigger picture, and not just what lies in front of you Don't stop thinking that you need to study so you can have better grades. Expound further, like better grades let you graduate in time, graduating in time lets you get a job of your own or start on your career earlier so you can start working for financial freedom earlier.
Also, if it's going to be helpful, go on group studies. If you learn more when someone explains something to you using a different approach, join study groups or talk to your friends so you guys can organize one.

Hello yuekim123.
Student life is indeed busy with studies, completion of assignments, Submission of journals and what not! And Stress behaves as a crucial factor here....
But the stress of Studies, School can be avoided if you indulge yourself in activities you like. Make out some time for your friends, Indulge in hobbies you have..
In my case, I stress myself by just closing my eyes and listening to Good Music! Yes, Music is an essential part of Life! As Music relaxes the mind and it keeps you happy...
For concentration, you need to meditate and give some time for praying to god! Never forget God as he is everything!
You can't avoid studies on the other hand, as they shape your life, and getting a qualification means a lot for your future...
So just focus on your future, prepare accordingly and never leave your hobbird!
Love what you do!

You are not alone in this problem my friend. I have been fighting this issue for so long now that at times I have almost given up. In the end I realized that I have wasted enough time not focusing. Now I am still trying to finish my studies after so many years in college. I know I could have done better but I didn't and I regret that. Take it from me, motivate yourself and just remind yourself of the things you could do after graduating. It's never easy but it's what should be done, right? Good luck to us!

I agree. It's very difficult to discipline one's self. But yes, it's the right thing to do, in order for us to reach our goals and eventually be successful someday.

You need to focus more on your studies. If you feel that you have less concentration, maybe you need to condition your mind and also think of what good is would bring to you and how it will affect your future.

I know exactly how you feel! I've been needing to sit down & read a few of my textbooks, but every time I do sit down & start reading, I instantly can't concentrate on the reading one-hundred percent! I've found taking a break between reading each chapter helps a little. It gives your mind resting time. And when I say take a break, getting on Facebook or something similar to that is a bad idea. Once it's time to go back to reading, you'll be wanting to do something more entertaining than read a textbook! Hang in there on the studying! - Also, the healthier your diet is, the more you're supposed to be able to focus on things. That's actually what I've been doing the last couple weeks; trying to stick to eating health instead of eating junk food. I'm hoping it helps me focus better, but there's no guarantee!
