PC virus does harm to our pc computers and gadgets. It destroys our files that are valuable to us ( pictures, videos, music, etc. ). I am just wondering since Android smartphones, tablets, and gadgets are now popular in the technology world, is it also possible that a time will come that there will be also Android Virus that will cause harm to our android gadgets?

In my opinion, android is programmed with linux platform and hence there are no viruses. The reason is simple.Linux platform is not friendly and the coding is difficult for it and hence difficult to program a virus. On the other hand, windows platform has easy programming and thus easy viruses. This is the basic reasons why high security systems like bank run on linux platform.

There may be no viruses at present that attack Linux but that does not mean that none will be produced in the future. The main reason so far has been that the majority of users have Windows, therefore writing a virus for Windows will reach a greater audience. With the increasing popularity of Linux among home users the temptation for people to attack Linux is no doubt increasing, and may continue to do so as the percentage increases.

As said, it will affect. Precaution is better than care, that's why i downloaded one for my android phone. I have avast mobile security. I heard rooting is bad for android, but many root their handset.

Android has been fairly safe so far but the popularity of it will make it a more likely target nowadays. Apparently at least one Android virus has already been detected, so I would not consider it to be a totally safe haven in that respect. There are free antivirus programs available for Android, so there is no reason not to add protection to your system as a prudent precaution. It has always been recommended for anyone using a computer or tablet to use antivirus in order to avoid passing viruses on to friends using Windows, but now it is becoming even more important.

As far as I heard about this, Android OS can be affected by virus. Like all other OS android is also prone to viruses.Speaking about the smartphones or generally mobile phones, java phones are the only ones that cannot be affected by any kinds of viruses or malwares. But i hardly can see the smartphones which are java enabled. I think that is because of their difficulty in maintaining a mobile phone using java code. But still I think it would be much better if we could design a smartphone which is run on java platform.

May be we should not just call it android virus, may be we should call it cell phone virus, yes of course there are many samrtphones virus and they will do harm to our Android samrtphones, tablets and other gadget just as the PC virus,so actually we just need to avoid them just like the same way with PC virus.
