Don't republicans realize they are in a lose, lose situation?

The American people have spoken, but some in Washington didn't listen. Because of this the GOP is in probably the worse situation they could have imagined before the election. Not only did they lose the election, but they lost seats on both sides of Congress. Now they are trying to do something that is almost impossible: Negotiate when you have NO power. This is like a child threatening a parent, when the ramifications of that threat far out way any positive that can come from the parent giving in. The president has created a win/win situation for himself and his vision of the country. If Republicans don't give into his demands the mandatory cuts will happen, and he will be able to blame Republicans. If Republicans are able to work out a deal it will be on the presidents terms, or he will walk away knowing he will get his tax increases and cuts in military spending he promised. He will also be able to raise taxes on all income levels while blaming Republicans for this.
Republicans should realize that they are going to lose no matter what. The only question is: Are Republicans going to lose one battle, or are they going to lose the war?

When you have the media cheer leading for the Democrats what do you expect the American people to believe? When President Bush Sr rejected a Democrat budget because it would increase taxes it was his fault that the government shut down for a few days. When President Clinton did the same thing it was the Republican Congress that was to blame. When a government shut down was threatened during the Administration of President Obama it was going to be the Republicans fault if the people on Social Security and the military did not get paid - a decision made by President Obama. Some how it is always the Republicans Fault. Why should it be any different now. If the Republican give in 100% and the economy fails it will be their fault.
It is just like the media and the educational institutions that have convinced the people that the Republicans, who voted to end slavery, passed civil right over a Democrat filibuster and granted Amnesty to several million illegal immigrant, are this evil party that is out to take all your money and give it to the rich. The Democrats are seen as the savior of the poor. The party that established a welfare system where if you had a married couple you got less aid than if the man left family. A welfare system that punishes you if you are able to work and advance. When you reach the magic number around $21,000 + in income then you lose all benefits. A system that punishes you if you save money but rewards you if you spend all your money. Example the girl that made the news because she did babysitting and other jobs to earn money for college and she saved her money. Her mother was on welfare so when Social Services found out the took the money as repayment for her mothers assistance and was denied government grants to go to college. Fortunately an evil rich person gave her the money to go to college

It IS about perception. And it has been said that the media is the fifth column of government. Control what is fed to the masses and the masses will follow you to the slaughter house like sheep.

Debater please refresh my memory about President Bush. What networks did he call out and tell people they were unfair and which ones did he refuse to include in a news media conference call?
The Democratic Party of Clinton is not the same as the current one. What about one of the Conservative President who granted Amnesty to illegals and President Obama who promised that Immigration would be top in his first term, then tells Latinos to trust him to get it done this term. Republicans have passed an immigration Bill that expands immigration but the Democrat Senate will not deal with immigration one piece at a time but want a total package that they design.

So are you saying it will be Obama fault but he will blame the republicans. I am glad that you finally are admitting it. So no matter what happens it is actually Obama and the democrats fault, but they will blame the republicans no matter what.
And by the way, I think it we the people that are in a lose lose situation.
I have not heard of Obama wanting to get any spending, just tax increases. I hope you guys that voted for Obama like paying his tax increases.

If the people voted for the Obama plan of spending and taxing then if the economy doesn't turn around it is his fault. Right now he owns the economy 100%. What is his plan to solve the problem? All I heard was increase taxes by 1.6 trillion over ten years and cut a few billion over the same time. His idea of compromise is give me the tax increase on the rich and I will talk about spending cuts later. This country has not had a budget in four years. The Republican house has sent numerous budgets to the Senate and Senator Reid will not even allow a vote on them and will not even propose one of his own or vote on the presidents budget.

Fat, the fault would actually be with the people who approved this fiscal cliff of happening in the first place. Obama has all the power, and we all know that when you are in power you lead, you don't follow. Republicans in the house are so delusional that they still think they have some power, as if the election never happened.
I have no problem paying more in taxes. I hate to tell you this, but the American people VOTED for Obama's spending, and raising taxes on the rich. Remember the American people voted against lower taxes for the wealthy, and cuts in spending.

Yeah, there are a lot of stupid greedy people out there. Tax the rich give to us the spoils. Let see where this goes.
So Obama has the power, he needs to take the responsibility and not blame on no one else, but the sheeple will listen to Obama cry that it is someone elses fault.

You forgot that the GOP didn't totally lose. They have a type of mandate though not as strong, just by holding the House. Obama is trying to shove his agenda and the GoOP must push back and not allow him to get away with too much.
If the GOP caves on all their previous stances, the GOP will lose more of it's members. Obama is trying to get his tax hikes without spending cuts by promising future spending cuts. That never happens and should not be accepted by the GOP..It must be raise taxes only if spending is cut...at the same time not in some promised, nonexistant future..we have been down the road of broken promises before..
Obama it seems actually wants to go over the fiscal cliff ...he wants to establish power and blame the GOP...

Stary, you forgot that the GOP was talking about taking over a majority in both the house and senate. They thought they were going to add seats in the house, and actually lost them, as well as the senate.
"Obama is trying to shove his agenda and the GoOP must push back and not allow him to get away with too much."
I understand that, and agree that is what will happen. The problem they have is that they voted for this "fiscal cliff" with the hope that they would run the entire country (which is what it looked like when they agreed to this). Now it is an entirely different world. The GOP has no other choice but to deal with Obama, or they will see military spending cut, and tax increases on their most important supporters: The ultra wealthy.
What you don't understand is that republicans can't stop these tax increase, the only thing they can do is work with Obama to lessen them. The tax increases are due to go into effect at the end the year unless republicans work with Obama.
"Obama it seems actually wants to go over the fiscal cliff ...he wants to establish power and blame the GOP..."
Didn't you read my post? This cliff will raise taxes, and cut only a small amount of spending on programs that he likes, while cutting military spending (something Obama has support). Obama could NEVER of got this through a republican house, now the only thing he has to do is NOTHING!!!

I'd say the GOP lost big time all around. Democratic House candidates received more total votes nationally than Republicans, which I realize doesn't mean much but it does indicate what the national mood is. The fact is if it weren't for the gerrymandering done by the GOP following the 2010 elections and census it's highly likely Nancy Pelosi would again be Speaker of the House. Gaining at least 8 net seats was no small feat for the Dems all things considered. Also, a few short months ago nobody in the Senate among the Democrats wanted the job of recruiting candidates for this year's elections because it seemed to be a given that the Democrats would lose control of the Senate. NOBODY would have ever predicted they'd actually GAIN 2 seats and that not a single incumbent would lose. They won the highest percentage of races in decades n a year they weren't expected to win much of anything.
