I'm kinda addicted to internet now. for 3 straight days i've spent it in front of my laptop, of course eaten my meals for 5 minutes at max. I'm still a student and graduating in college. I have to study. I have a future ahead of me, i know. Please help me. I need your advice.
thanks xx

I think the best course of action is cold turkey, unless it's so bad you literally can't function all the time. Then I think you need to go for therapy. It sounds harsh, but some behavioral addictions can be just as bad as substance additions and require just as much intervention.
Force yourself to go study somewhere you don't have any access to a computer. I hope you've got some books to study with, otherwise this might be a lot harder for you. If you can't concentrate do some intensive exercise, it's a good distraction and can usually get your mind off of most things. Then try again.
Turn off mylot. Go ahead! We won't whither and die in your absence, and your studies are much more important!

You're welcome... If all goes well, I hope to see you around less often.

It depends on what you really want to do. If you are addicted to the internet, and you want to stop, then you just need to do it gradually. Work your way off it a little at a time, and it'll make it so much easier.
On the other hand, if you don't want to stop, but feel you have other things to do, then just compromise. You said you need to study, right? Why not study on the internet? I know it's not exactly the same as browsing youtube or going on facebook, but use the internet to advance yourself, and it wont be as much of a problem.
Also, just do what you have to do, in real life, and don't let your addiction to the internet stop you. Internet comes second, life comes first.

All you need to think is exactly what you have posted. I'm still a student and graduating in college. I have to study. I have a future ahead of me, i know. That being said, you should prioritize your studies above all. Nothing much is expected from you by your parents other than make good in school and be able to graduate on time.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your problem and i think we all are addicted to internet for our life revolves our technology only. I spend long hours on internet but i have always channelized my time and divided it properly so that i never realize that my time on internet is wasted. So even if u are online for most of the time try to utilize it in a proper way by looking at the sites where u can earn some extra amount like this site. That would be quite helpful for u i am sure.
What say?

Try limiting your computer usage with a timer. Like for example, 2-3 hours of playing everyday max. During those spare time, you can do things like read books, study, etc. what is most important is your own self-control. Try doing other things on the computer that are less addictive like reading e-books. This will drive-off your 5 more minutes mindset
