I'm reading bite-sized Disney Fairy books. Don't judge me.

I'm a 21 year old woman, but gosh darn it, I love the Disney Fairies franchise. I love the Tinkerbell movies, and I adore the little fairy characters they've created in Pixie Hollow and now I'm reading the itty-bitty Disney Fairy books. You know, Silvermist and the Ladybug Curse, Rani and the Three Treasures, Vidia and the Fairy Crown, The Trouble with Tink... even the names reek of girly lessons about love, talent, friendship, faith, trust, and pixie dust! They're simple stories, but they're bright and happy. And I can finish one in fifteen minutes. Their sparkly pure goodness fills me with joy.
I've always read an indiscriminate mix of adult books, middle grade books, young adult novels, and children's books. The way I see it, a good book is a good book no matter what age it was written for.
So... am I alone in the world? Anyone else an adult who loves children's books?

I'm there! I've read several of the fairy books, I always thought Tink was the most interesting of the various creations in Peter Pan - well, besides Peter himself.
Then again, I never wanted to grow up!
There we have it, growing old isn't optional, growing up IS!

You are not the only one. I love Disney fairy tales, it makes me relax when I'm watching them. I have a one year old daughter and I can't wait to watch those with her soon.
I love to read children stories too co's I love to tell stories with children. I also read serious books, something that an adults person like me should learn.

I haven't dumped the "serious books," in fact I've always read a mix of novels for all age groups, but children's books just make me happy. I feel like there are lots of adult books that are all doom and gloom. It's good to find some joy in reading from time to time, you know?

Well there are SOME children's books... that don't end happily. But I think I just ignore those ones too.

True, adults books are serious and boring and sometimes complicated. It's always good to read children's books where it's always ends happy.

Inspiring, huh? Don't think I've ever thought that highly of a Disney Fairy book before, but I won't close the door on it. Glad to see there are so many kids at heart on Mylot.

I am the same way lol. I love going out and getting new books like that "for my little girl." I use my kids for all kinds of things. I mean thats kind of like chucky cheese where a kid can be a kid right lol. I love going there and now that i have children its all about taking the kids i would never just go in there by myself though. People would just look at me like im crazy lol.

As I was telling the poster above you, sometimes I use watching kids as an excuse to act like a kid. It's so much fun, and when people see you, they just think you're good with kids. One of the many reasons I'm looking forward to having a few of my own someday.

I can see where you are coming from lol. I would have never been caught buying childrens books or going to chucky cheese until i had my children. When my first child was born if i remember right i think that come out of my mouth that now i can go to chucky cheese when they got a little older lol. Thanks for responding.

I still love Harry Potter, and if I got my hands on a complete set of Nancy Drew, I would likely take a week or two to read them just for old times' sake. But wait, those are YA. As for children's books, I thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher's aide and reading Cajun children's books to my students as part of our local culture and literature lessons. Best wishes! :-)

Sometimes I love being able to watch and take care of children just because I can act like a kid, consume children's entertainment, and play with children's toys, and nobody thinks ill of it. lol Maybe I should become a teacher's aid so I can discover more good children's books.

Never make an issue about the age. I am already 31 and still loving fantasies, fairies and Disney's stories and characters. It always made me feel young at heart. The age doesn't matter, what matter is the simplicity of happiness we found thru reading those stories...

You're not alone! I for one totally love some children's books! The pictures are so pretty! And life is so innocent! I love a couple of Christian children's books I have, though I haven't looked at them for a while.. One is about God creating.. and the pictures are breathtaking.. of course adult books on this topic are pretty nice too! I have about four illustrated children's bibles.. I have another "Golden Book" of Alice in wonderland, that's a kool one.. and some other ones I like.. lots of cozy nature and home pics are great as far as I'm concerned.. The magic of fairy tales sounds like some good stuff! I may have to check it out!

That sounds like a good book, what't the title? When I was little my Mom would get us all sorts of Bible story books, though I don't remember any with beautiful illustrations. I should revisit those.

Hi hi hi
Oh no. Your not alone in the world. My aunt who has a daughter like Disney so much. She just like you and she's older than you. She's so fascinated about disney fairy books and movies and when it comes to movies and animation, she doesn't like anime. Wa ha ha ha She likes Disney better than anime. Maybe she sees it that anime is prone to violence while in Disney is wholesome and so, she likes Disney a lot.

The two of us might get along, I don't like anime either! For me, it's more the slow storytelling pace as well as the violence and whatnot. Nice to know there's another person out there with two of my weird quirks in common.

Don't think I've learned anything new from a Disney Fairy novel, but they certainly do transport to new worlds.

Haha you are not alone definitely, there are many adults read children's books in the world such like me,because the Fairy books are all very pure and can clean our soul and make us calm down and peace.
And we only need to know one thing:fairy tales are fairy tales, after reading that we should back to the adult world.

I live in the adult world... there's no need to go back to it, I can't escape!
I'm not reading "Fairy Tales," I'm reading the Disney Fairy Franchise books, though I am very fond of fairy tales as well. Fairy tales in their original form are actually pretty gruesome.

Go for it, girl. I also enjoy reading children's books, especially picture books. I think the art work in children's books is often just absolutely outstanding. So, you are not alone in the world. Although I am not quite the Disney fan that you are, I also enjoy children's books.
At our library, there is a Book Club that meets once a week, for adults who are interested in reading youth novels. I often find adult novels to be too 'adult' if you know what I mean. I stopped reading one 'adult' book after reading the 'f' word for the third time. I prefer the innocence and the clean writing that is designed for children and the youth. I prefer the childlike innocence as there are many well-written and beautifully illustrated children's books that are certainly appropriate for all ages, including grown ups.
