other mylotters for the time being. instead, i'll be starting a couple of discussions myself and reply back to those who respond.
for the past couple of days, i've observed that i'm more active in mylot starting discussions and responding back compared to when i simply reply back to other discussions. really unsure of the reason why i'm sort of lethargic responding back to other discussions. kinda surprised as when i started with mylot, i was really focused on replying to discussions and was content doing so. anyway, since at this time, i'm just getting off starting my own discussions, i will do just that. i didn't bother opening my email as i would most likely just delete the email notifications i received and not reply to a single discussion.
anyway, have any of you guys felt the same? what did you do? did you just stick to starting your own discussions or did you force yourself to reply back to other's discussions? curious as to what others in the same boat did.
please feel free to chime in fellow mylotters.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

@ctryhnny, yes, i try to do both equally but this time, i'm more inclined to start my own discussions. i actually went through my notifications and i'm not surprised that out of the ten, i deleted nine and just replied in one. although, it is just a ballpark estimate, that's how i fared earlier. i might turn off notifications as a last option if i still don't get the drive to reply back in other discussions. i see no point in having notifications and i'm not responding. defeats the purpose. lol!
@kyle2krystel, thanks for responding to my discussion kyle2krystel. it is much appreciated. just keep posting when you have the time. being a busy wife is hard enough and takes up most of your time.
anyway, thanks to both of you for participating and enjoy mylot!!!
cheers!!!

I've noticed that I'm more of a responder than a starter. It's easier for me to participate in discussions started by someone else than for me to think of my own topic. It's not that there's nothing I could think of. In fact, there are lots of things that I feel are interesting to discuss. But mostly what I come up with are quite similar to what has been posted by others and I'm concerned that it might just get deleted for being a duplicate topic or something.

hi beamer I d o think that we each have our own style of mylotting and that
if it w orks for u and we enjoy what we are doing they are all good
styles. Its nice that we are pretty free to talk and discuss on most anything we wish.I also love the peace and calmness of mylot compared to forum sites that have no admins at all. Some places are full of quarrels and spats, and name
calling and what have you as there is nobody to say you cannot do that.so hurrayh
for my lot admins.

hi beamer and hatley.
first off, thanks for participating in the discussion.
@beamer88, when i first started out at mylot, i was more of a responder too. it was very seldom that i would start my own discussions. however, as i grew more comfortable, i eventually started my own discussions regularly. i can see from your post count that you've been in mylot for quite some time already. your point about starting a duplicate discussions and it possibly getting deleted is indeed valid. however, there really isn't anything original under the sun so i doubt if there are possible discussion topics out there that haven't been started yet.
@hatley, you are correct, each mylotter brings his or her unique style in mylotting. of course, each style adds to the diversity in mylot and that can only lead to good things. good point about the mylot admin staying on top of the forum. i've been members of forums wherein the disagreements went out of hand and i'm glad that mylot ain't going that route.
cheers and happy mylotting to both of you.

Well, from time to time we do find ourselves starting more discussions and trying to resolve them than responding back to someone else, and that is OK. I know it really depends on my mood and what is going on, but more lately I have been trying to focus more on resolving some of my older unresolved discussions here as well.

hi there krausehome.
yes, sometimes, it really depends on my mood if i want to put my thoughts about a discussion a friend of mine started or if i want to give my insight or opinion about a topic that is close to me by starting a discussion on my own. anyway, right now, i'm trying to strike a good balance between the two. i would start two to five discussions and reply to a couple started out by friends. i also make sure that i have time to reply back to those mylotters who have responded to the discussions i have started.
thanks for participating and happy mylotting!!!

Four months ago, I wrote my own discussions and just rated the responses. LOL. I didn't really know that I have to comment back to the responses. Haha. How foolish of me. Then, I saw some of my friends exchanging messages and Ms. Hatley told me that I have to answer them back. Thanks to her. I am earning a lot more nowadays than before. I posted a lot of my discussions and until now I haven't replied to some of the responses and comments. I've spent the last two days, yesterday and the day before yesterday in going back to all my responders. I'm glad that I'm almost over but I haven't chosen the best responses yet. For me posting my own discussions has a lot of responsibility. If I can't comment back to the responders maybe they'll feel bad about it so if I'm busy, I just focus on responding to our fellow mylotters discussions. I just post one or two discussions in a week. If you make your own discussion, it's easier to respond because you know the subject matter well compared to when you respond to our fellow mylotter's discussions. I never force myself to respond to other fellow mylotters' discussions. I enjoy participating in their interesting posts. Goodluck. I hope you have a lot of time replying all your responders. Happy mylotting.

hi there angelkarah050182.
thanks for participating in my discussion and sharing your thoughts. i agree with you that we should always strive to reply back to those who respond to our discussions, that is why i always make time to do that. i do not want to see a response that isn't replied to. i also try to set aside some time during the month to go back to my discussions and see if there are any new response that need to be replied to. this is the essence of mylot, being able to have conversations and interacting with and learning from the other mylotters.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Hi allen!
Personally, I would like to do both things. I would want to start my own discussion and at the same time, I would like to respond and comment to others discussion. But of course this is where the issue of time availability will come in. For me who is working on a permanent basis, it would not be easy to devote time for both. So what I do, I would start new discussion every other day to give me time to reply to those who responded and thus making enough time also to respond to others discussion. Although there are times that if I have something in mind I would start it at once.
Have a nice day!

hi there aries1973, we are in the same boat. as much as i like to start my own discussions and also respond back to other's discussions, i'm pressed for time so i can only do one or another. anyway, i'm trying my best to manage my time so i can do both and still have a meaningful contribution here in mylot.
@hatley, good for you if you have the time to do all those. i comment back to those that participated in my discussions. i hate to leave a discussion hanging so i try to reply back to each post and then award a 'best response' tag.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

oh, well when i first started in here, i just respond to other people discussion, but then i realize sometime i did not get notify if i keep respond it. im also not sure why?
then i start my own, its make me easy to handle it, because i know that is my discussion, even i miss the notify, i just can check on the profile.
but, there is sometime make me curious about, i try to search for the answer, but still cannot understand it.
like, i respond to other, then they comment about it, then i reply it again. i still get notify.
compare to when i comment other responder on the discussion, i don't get any email notify.
is that the notify we just get when the owner reply on our respond

I replied both discussions. I am giving 50/50 for my response in order to balance. Sometimes, I am sometimes to delete emails from Mylot. I read also some new discussions and comments. I make it minimum of 5-6 sentences for my reply or discussions.

hi there cobalt20.
yeah, as much as possible i try to balance my activity here in mylot as well. i check each discussion tab and answer what i can. that came to be taxing and boring so i decided to do a little change up. been answering the notifications that i get in my email. again, that got to be a routine and got tired of it so decided to change it up again.
thanks for participating and happy mylotting!!!

hi I earn more if I do a combination of making my own discussions and commenting back on the responses I get and also responding to my friends discussions that interest me.
also I love to comment back o n comments and keep commenting to others comments and learn so much about my friends and get to laugh and joke with them and have fun here. I think we all should do what we enjoy best and we all will earn from having fun here and enjoying ourselves.

hi there hatley.
yes, doing a combination of both, starting own discussions and responding to the discussions of others, is a good way of earning here in mylot. personally, i prefer to start my own discussions first when i log in. afterwards, i try to respond back to those who participated in my discussions. the last thing i do is to reply to discussions started by others. i like to mix it up a lot so there are instances that i would just be contented leaving comments in blogs and pictures posted by other users.
i really like what you wrote, '... we all should do what we enjoy best...', very well said. at the end of the day, more than the earnings, it is the learning and interaction that happens between mylotters that make the stay here worthwhile.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Sometimes my mind is a blank in which case I'm happy to read what others have to say and respond to their discussions. Other times something comes to me that i want to share. I think the important thing is that you do reply if someone takes the time to respond to one of your discussions, although I must admit it can get tedious if the discussion gets far more responses than you imagined and half of them say the same thing.

hi there greenmoo.
i know what you are saying about the mind going blank... i've had too many experiences about that and it is no fun at all. i call that my 'mylot rut'! as for topics about the new discussions that i start, i usually stick to either my personal experiences or topics that i feel strongly about. i also start discussions about topics that i'm comfortable and knowledgeable about as well. i wouldn't dare start a discussion that i'm not familiar about.
i agree about responding back to replies being tedious. i have a discussions that got way lot more of responses than i expected and it took me awhile responding back to all the replies. i did eventually get it done and i felt a sense of accomplishment when i completed the task.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

You know, there are times when I have a lot to say, it just so happens its to other people through their discussions. I've started plenty of discussions and sometimes I find myself with a question I might want input for, most of the time I feel I need to give advice when people need it. I've been here a while so I'm sort of in between.

hi there gitfiddleplayer.
i'm sort of in-between as well. i tend to do both things in streaks. on most days, i'll be replying in discussion started by friends and those that i see in the different tabs. after two to three days, i then shift to starting my own discussions and most of the time afterwards, i'll be respondiong back to those that replied in the discussions i've started.
anyway, i love the change-up no matter how small it is. doing something else recharges me.
cheers and happy mylotting gitfiddleplayer.

I rarely start my own discussions. I normally respond to everyone elses. I start out at the today's top tab, then next is my interests, then friends started and hot. That is how I handle the discussions and I only respond to the ones that I think I can add to the conversation. If I don't feel I have anything to add I just skip it.

hi shellyann36.
'i start out at the today's tab, then next is my interest, then friends started, and hot' - this is how i mylot shellyann36. kinda got tired of the routine though so i can it up a bit. sometimes, i just go strictly with the notifications that i receive in my email. sometimes i go by what is in the mylot homepage. i do things differently just to keep things interesting and keep me motivated at posting here in mylot.
anyway, shellyann36, how have you been? been awhile. hope all is well with you.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I will say that there are loads of people that starts discussions and just like me I can not keep up no more than a lot of people, neither can I always answer all my friends discussions, as there are other things as well as other people that I have to sort out.
I try to get on here when I can, but sometimes no sooner that I have come on here I have to stop and come off for many reasons, sorry if I have been not about to answer yours or anyone elses discussions, but illness, as well as family life has and will always stop me.

hi there jugsjugs.
i think the key to mylotting like any other activity is time management. no one can do all those things all the time and still have time to do other off-line stuff. i think the best bet is to allot a certain time to look into each tab and answer discussions accordingly.
anyway, i play with the cards i'm dealt with. if i see a good list of discussions to reply to, i respond to discussions. if i see none, i try to start my own. if i run out of ideas, i try to look at the pics to comment. i also read the blogs and comment as well. i just try to make the most of my time here to earn.
no worries about not being able to reply to my discussions jugsjugs, i know that you have a life outside of mylot. of course, family always come first. hope all is well with you and your family jugs!
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

hi there valerievy.
first off, welcome to mylot. you will find out that this is a good site not just for earning but for learning as well. just stick by the rules and regulations of the site. if you have any questions or clarifications, feel free to ask the site admin or the more tenured members of the site.
when i started with mylot, i was contented just replying to other discussions. as i grew more comfortable, i started my own discussions but that is only after i have made sure that there were no other similar discussions like it. hope you are doing well now starting your own discussions valerievy.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!
