Not Well Known but Well Worth a Watch

So on Black Friday I took a chance and bought a movie that I had never heard of. The movie is called The Assualt, made in 2010. It's a true story of a plane hijacking that threatened Paris, and the SWAT team that had to stop a tragedy from happening.
I honestly thought I would watch the movie once, and end up reselling the DVD right after. But that is not the case.
I thought this movie was really good, and I am happy to have it in my dvd collection. I think it was written and acted brilliantly, and it won't disappoint. One part even made me cry (which I also wasn't expecting to happen).
It is a french movie, DON'T watch it dubbed! It'll just take away from the movie, dubbing never works! Watch it with the subtitles, I used to HATE subtitles, but I have now seen WAY to many great forgein movies!
So if you can, try to get your hands on this movie! It is def. worth it.
And on the off chance....has anyone already seen this movie?

I have yet to see this Movie,but I'd agree with you that it's better to watch a movie in a language you don't yet know in the original with subtitles rather than voiced over dubbing..that takes away from the original performance,IMO..

When I first put the dvd in and played the movie (I didn't do anything with the settings, just pressed play) they were talking in english, so I just thought the movie was in english (hadn't realized it was a french movie). It wasn't until 15 minutes later that the dubbing started gettint REALLY ridiculous and I was like...now wait a minute! lol. I stopped it, went to the settings and changed it to the right language with english subtitles, MUCH better!!!
It's not really an action movie (except for the ending), it's more of a drama/with a little suspense/anxiety mixed it. But the end is really good and fast paced. If you like movies like this I think you should def. check it out!

If you like horror movies you should also check out a couple other forgein movies I've seen. One is called Them (I believe it's french) and it is a thriller movie, and the other one is called Shiver (Spanish??) and it's a horror/suspense movie. Both are really good!

Hello Lilyofthetorns, Nope I haven't seen or watch this movie but i might take a peek in youtube if there's a trailer. we have different taste in watching movies, there are times that i would love to watch some other foreign movies than the usual US. but to my surprise some box office hits are actually imitation from these foreign movies from countries in EU. like the movie 2012, most of it's scene were imitated from the movie "sinking of japan"

I've never seen similarities like that between forgeign movies and U.S. movies (unless they're actual remakes).
But if you like horror movies, there is a GREAT forgeign horror movie called Them. I believe it is french but not 100% sure.

i do not usually watch foreign films, that are not in English. but i do love a good action film.. I do not know any of them either. but since it is based on a true story and swat movies are fun, maybe i'll give it a try.

I used to avoid forgeign movies just because they were subtitled, but I won't do that any more, I've seen too many good ones.
Def. give this one a try (no dubbing! Haha), it won't disappoint. And another good action/horror forgein movie is called Them. Check them out! Maybe they'll make you more interested in forgein movies
