I have been hearing a lot about tea tree oil of late. I am using it to wash one of my son's wounds. Have any of you tried this all natural product (as long as you purchase the essential oil)? I want to use it more but am not real sure if it is as good as all the stuff I read online says it is. Does anyone have any first hand experience using it?

Tea tree oil is a native product to Australia so we have plenty of experience using it over here and it is quite common. Same with Eucalyptus oil. Both are similar and are well known as disinfectants, but we use the tea tree oil mostly for the removal of ticks. The tea tree oil numbs the ticks so that you can remove them more easily without their heads breaking off and staying inside you!
It is also good for the removal of head lice in the same way and when my kids were constantly getting infected we would spray their hair with watered down tea tree oil to stop the lice 'coming on board' in the first place.

Well, that's some very good information! I knew that it had many benefits but had no idea that it was so beneficial for so many different things! I am just now really getting into the more natural remedies and even foods... thanks for the 411!

I use a shampoo and conditioner that contains tea tree oil and I LOVE it. It is such a refreshing cleanser. I would think it should feel good on a wound as well. Have you tried it on yourself? That is always the acid test for me. I try stuff on myself, then recommend it to others. Also, I like to go to the hair salon each week and they do treatments with the ingredients that is wonderful. Includes a facial that is divine.

I just ordered some body wash or something like that which contains tea tree oil. I will probably try it before I try it on Chris - but I don't like body gels and washes so I am biased against it already! I am anxious to try the homemade cleaner made with it though.. maybe this week.

There is certainly something about that aroma that I really like. Don't know if it is the clean smell or the tingly feeling left on the scalp after the treatment. I do know that the smell in lotion is very relaxing for me and I like the way my skin seems to not become as dry as fast.

Well, they say it is supposed to help, but it did not really do anything for me yrs ago when I tried it. There are so many different kinds out there that you never know which one works the best. But if it works for you keep on doing it, and let us know your results.

I got the supposedly pure 100% tea tree oil that stinks! lol that's the litmus test for it I think! I only use it to clean his hand so I can't really say if it "works" or not, but his hand is healing so I guess something is working! lol

That's what I have just read. I also saw on another discussion that was just pointed out to me that it can be a good household cleaner as well! who knew?

I use to buy tea tree oil all the time when we sold a product called melalueca. Tea tree oils are come from the rainforest and are "suppose" to be good for your skin. It is also good for varicose veins. I used tea tree oils regularly, and I never noticed any positive effects or negative effects and it does have a terrible smell. I have some tea tree oil body wash and it works okay.

I just got introduced to tea tree oil. I am using it to cleanse my son's wounds. How is it good for varicose viens? I have very ugly ones from when i was pregnant. They are huge, but I do not know how tea tree oil (or anything else) can help!

I observed this content on face packs and face wash and i checked this helps to control pimples and give oil free look,
Apart from that i have not purchased and have not idea from where to get or when can use it as in our first aid box.
I guess that is very expensive and not easily available in local markets.

I have heard a lot about it and have just started using it on my son's skin. I hope it works! It is not too expensive since it lasts a long time. But I do find that many mainstream stores do not carry natural products anymore. I have to look for it at specialty stores.

I have tried using tea tree oil before, but I don't use it often. I tried it once for a rash that I had on my skin, because I kept hearing that it would be a natural way to get rid of it. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to help with the rash, and the smell of the tea tree oil was so strong that it ended up just really bothering me! I know it works well for some people, but I guess it wasn't the right treatment for my problem. Oh, well!

I am using it to cleanse my son's wound. I water it down with purified water so it is not as strong. I think i am going to make a household cleaner out of it. But it does have a pretty strong odor, even after it is watered down!
