Books that you read as a kid sure can have new meaning as an adult (spoilers)

I was re-reading The Giver my Lowis Lowery last week, and it hit me: when a piolet accidently flies over the village, scaring everyone in it but causing no harm, he is released from the community, which is PC for killed by injection. For some reason when I was a kid, the horror of this didn't hit me, probably because I had forgotten the incident during the big reveal.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, the books that we read are interpreted differently at different ages and that is the reason why many books that we like during our childhood days are not liked by us if we start reading during our adolescent stages.
The difference in our thought process and mindset is the cause of such thoughts and i think there is absolutely no issues in interpreting differently except that it should be taken on a positive note.
What say?
