Does Allah Encourage Muslims to Use Terror to Scare People into Joining Islam?

In 8.12 of the Quran, it says, "When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them."
I know that consciously Muslims tell people, "Well, he's our Creator; it's his right to be a big baby when he doesn't get his way" (much like the Christians say about Yahweh for the things he did in the Old Testament of the Bible ... though I doubt they actually put it 'his right to be a big baby').
But he first-&-foremost provides the example we are to follow (as Jesus PBUH said, "I do nothing but what I see The Father do before me"). What kind of example do you think he's providing here---not even reasoning with them before he starts a`choppin`

Yes, muhammad was a barbaric terrorist and moslems are supposed to model every aspect of their lives after him.
A good muslim isn't a good muslim unless he's willing to fly an airplane full of innocent people into a building full of innocent people.

that is Al anfal surah...the special surah for war..
is it cruel?
we should know when the surah comes to Moslem..
if iam not wrong, the surah comes to Moslem before Baadr war..
baadr war is the first battle moslem to Quraish group..
the surah comes to convince to Moslem that Allah be with them...
Moslem soldier is only 300 people...and Quraisy soldier reach 1000 people..it`s unbalanced war...but Allah send the surah for convincing Moslem that the truth will be winner, whether it`s impossible...

This is about the battle of Badr. The first battle that Muslims fought with the pagans of Mecca. Muslims were almost unarmed and 313 in number while their enemy was well armed and 1000 in number. At that time Allah promised Muslims that He will send 1000 angles to help them. Please read the verse in context and you will understand.

The 'person' it's read in (first-person plural, third-person singular) makes me unsure of any context beyond 'some guy dictating something the Angel told him.'

Never, Our duty is to convey the message, those who want to accept can accept and those who want to deny can deny.

Like he tells the prophet several times, 'It's your job to just tell them the truth; you are not responsible for their belief or disbelief.'

But I'm sure you can see how Muslim leaders might briefly misinterpret that to their followers and be drawn into 'allying Islam with Terrorism' to the quick-judging public
