I Was Like A Big Kid In A Sweet Shop Buying Christmas Decorations!

I don't get wide-eyed very often but earlier today I was very wide-eyed indeed.
All those decorations for my tree..so little time to pick them all.
Yes, my friends, it was time to spend some money (my own I might add) in that amazing shop The Range. It was packed but that was to be expected. It is December after all!
What I loved about it was the choice (hence the name, 'The Range') get it? I started off in the 'silver tree decorations' section but couldn't resist sauntering down the red aisle as well. If I'd gone really berserk I could've gone for purple, teal, mid-blue, dark pink and, I think white as well. Didn't see black but I bet there were some!
I can't wait to dig out my Christmas tree tomorrow (not literally you understand, as it's a fake one) and it will be a nice change to put other colours on it rather than gold. I didn't have to buy any more lights as I've already got the icicle ones and the LED balls.
Haha!
When it's all done I shall post a photograph of it. Last year I didn't even bother with the tree but this year it's going up early and I don't care.
You only live once.
I think!

That sounds so nice. I wish I could do that too. I have been wanting to buy a tree and decorations but I don't have the money to. =( I am not sure if I will be able to have a tree or presents for my children this year. This has been a tough one this year. Oh well, maybe next year will be better for us.
I am so glad you had a nice day like that! I am excited to see how it turns out when your done with it.

To be honest, trees are a bit over-rated although I really want to put ours up this year..don't know why. Maybe it's 'cos I couldn't be bothered last year and the corner looked a bit bare? I dunno.
Fortunately, we've had the tree a few years so didn't have to buy one. It's one of those fake green ones that looks real (well, a bit) and I've noticed how expensive new ones are now, probably due to the 20% VAT that's been slapped on them (it used to be 17.5 and even 15% for a while when Labour were in power).
Yes, I shall take a photo when it's done but promise not to laugh lol.

It seems many of us are starting to use most of our free time on Christmas. I can imagine your joy while you checked at the decorations and decided which ones you were going to buy. I once had a one color plus silver tree, but I prefer the ones with balls as thatt was what my parents did for Christmas when I was little.

Dad was a bit Scrooge-like last year and didn't have a tree in the front room where he sits but there again, I didn't have mine up here in Carlisle either. I wasn't here long enough to appreciate it as - ironically, I was at Mum's lol. She always has one in the back room.
This year will be different as Mum's holiday starts later, plus the fact I have a visit to the hospital on the 18th, so I can't miss that. So, I won't be at Mum's until the 21st this time round.
Mum's Christmas tree decorations are unique; a mixture of very old, quite old and not so old. The very old ones were inherited from her mother who always had a real tree as fake ones weren't popular in the 70s. The pine smell was amazing (and Mum had them when we were very young) but I guess the fake ones have 'taken over' in popularity due to the fact there are no needles to contend with. That's why I have a fake one anyway and I am soo looking forward to dressing it in a few hours' time.
I hope I do it justice.

Hiya Janey,
You are so lucky to have so many shops like that around we have to put up with what there is.
Still I am hoping that some little shop might have lots more imagination than others and have got christmas cards and stuff like that.
Very hard to find even a decent christmas card at all I still have last years but not very many.
One of my sons is in Liverpool so I have asked him to bring me a packet over from Asda they are usually decent enough.
Enjoy your tree however like many others I cannot afford to get one and have no room at the moment to put one up either.xxx

Hello!
Can't you buy Christmas decorations online? Any excuse to browse the web lol.
In fact, if I wanted one of those Fibre Optic Angels (you plonk it on top of the tree) I would have to buy one online as I never see them on the High Street.
I keep forgetting to buy one. Every year it's the same!

Then would you be surprised at my reaction when I visited a similar shop in the US, when I was on holiday? Yes.It was my first visit to the US and here in India those days there were no Malls. I was berserk seeing all that stuff and my nephew put me there and gave me time to walk around the shop while they went about their business elsewhere. I was fascinated with all the xmas decorations and picked up silver and gold bells streamers. Then there were bead chains of silver, gold and maroon. Oh! what a memorable event that was!
Merry Christmas!

I'm the same with good quality shiny wrapping paper as well. I've just wrapped up my brother's present with some wonderful silver wrapping paper that was a joy to use. Pity the sellotape dispenser didn't cut properly (probably health and safety) lol. Fortunately, we had another dispenser John could put the sellotape into, otherwise I'd be scr*wed!!!

I used to be like that. I always went nuts around christmas. I not only put up my tree, but I also had 1500 lights on it. What I did was I put up a few hundred of each color. Red, Blue, White, Green and Multicolor. And each night I would make the tree a different color. One night it was red, another blue, you get the picture. Then under the tree I would spend two days setting up the village. I have a set of Dickens village pieces. And some other ones as well. I would place them down and make a scene under the tree. I no longer have those pictures because the evil ex took them all and the video as well. I am going to want them. Well, thats for another time. But I am starting to get back into it. I did put up my nine foot tree this year but no village. Also no 1500 lights. I have a pre-light tree. Maybe next year I will get a different one.

Wow, you seem so...er..quiet as well. Do you know what I mean? I never envisaged you going mad over Christmas-time..but good for you.
It's good for the soul but maybe not so good for the wallet. But, who cares, it's Christmas lol.
9ft eh? My tree is 6ft but we DO have high ceilings so I guess a 9 footer would fit..er..just!

Nice!!! . I always went nuts for christmas. It basically stopped after the evil ex left and took the kids. But now I am starting to get back into the groove. So next year I already have a plan. And I am going to stick to it. I used to always decorate for christmas the weekend of Thanksgiving. I figured, why wait. A month is a good amount of time. And besides, it used to take me 3 days to get everything done.

Haha, I know what you mean.
We should've taken a little trip out to the Dobbies Garden Centre as I do know there is a Father Christmas ensconsed there at the moment.
John has a 'do' on Saturday so I'll remind him to take me on Sunday instead. It's a lovely place even without the decorations so if I see anything magical I shall take a pic!

Christmas time really brings out the child in us. I am also amazed and in awe when I see Christmas decors especially the lights. It just amazingly gives me a different kind of glow feeling. There's one place here that decorates their building every Christmas and had the public visit it for free. I told my husband that we will bring our 2-year-old there and told him that he will definitely enjoy it, but deep inside I know that it is me who will.

Aah, yes, I remember watching a programme about a family that do that with their homes and people from miles around it seems go and see it. It's not tacky either..there's even a nativity scene..all lit up of course but at least there is one!!

I'm on a permanent holiday as I don't work at the moment. No fun with no money but at least I have some online earnings at times, which enabled me to buy the decorations. Makes me feel less guilty somehow.
