Are you ready for it? For the last 15 years or so I have dreaded the Holidays so bad.Thanksgiving this year wasn't too bad for our family but as usual not nearly all my kids were there just my girls. My oldest son and his wife both had to work , one in the morning and one in the evening so it was impossible for them to get away. The youngest son was more interested in hanging out with his friends I guess.
We are going to see about getting a meeting room to have a big dinner so all the kids and elders can be there easier .We are thinking about making this a yearly thing if it works out well this year (prays) , and here I am finding myself for the first time in years looking forward to cooking, making candy for the grandkids and all the celebration of the season.
How do you feel about the Holidays? What kind of family plans do you make for Christmas? Are some years better for you than others?

Normally during Christmas time, we would spend with my family
at the church for the Christmas service. Later we will go to a
nearby restaurant for a good meal. There is one year we are doing
well where my husband invited my extended family to enjoy lunch
at a restaurant. I feel very happy as we can get together to celebrate
this wonderful day. Another year, my husband bought a huge staffed turkey.
My sister and I cooked up some other dishes and we invited family members
to joined us.
Since few years back, we went to Singapore for
holiday as we can see the beautiful lighted streets of Orchard Road
Singapore on the open deck double decker shuttle bus.
But this year is still a Question Mark ???? as my husband retired early
this year. I just got a job and 1st December is the official working day.
I hope God will bless us a Wonderful Christmas day this year. God has
it unique and mysterious wonders in his blessings. Thank you God.

I am not looking forward to Christmas just because I don't have the money to get my children anything this year. My husband is having trouble finding a job and things have been really tough for us! So, I am not happy this year like I usually am about the Holiday.
I know thats not the real reason for the Holiday but my children are too young to understand that we don't have money for presents...They will think Santa doesn't care about them and that is going to break my heart! =(

Wow, you are so blessed with wonderful children and
grandchildren. I love the saying, "The More the Merrier".
Christmas will brings cheers to families and friends.
Sharing and caring during this festive season will bring
joy to many. For me and my family, we will attend the morning
service if any, at times they do not have but instead replaced
by Christmas Eve Concert. So, we will attend the concert and
on the actual Christmas Day we will go to a nearby restaurant
to enjoy a delicious meal together.

I always end up with my extra kids stopping by to eat with us as well. They finish with their families and then have to come see what we have. There is always Turkey as well as Ham. And my husband makes a wonderful homemade peach cobbler that the kids fight over..lol So yeah "The more the Merrier"

This coming christmas, maybe our last christmas being together ( my siblings). Next year, the house which we stayed for 4 years will be redeemed( i don't know the exact word, sorry) already. I mean, that house was being mortgage to us way back 2008. I hope our christmas this year though we have financial and health problem. I wish we would still celebrate it happy and memorable.

Hi Jeanena. Christmas should not be exhausting for anyone. Keep it simple, but let those around you know that you care and love them. Enjoy preparing your meals and share the Meaning of Christmas with those around you. Happy Christmas to you and your family!

I think my family made me start to dislike Christmas a few years ago when we started traveling to my brothers for the holidays. It doesn't help that my birthday falls on the same day.
What happens is the Christmas break involves a lot of unpleasant traveling, an uncomfortable bed in the form of a sofa and just too much messing around to really focus on the event.
Sometimes I think I'd be more happy just having a Christmas all by myself, feet up and watching Christmas movies on the telly.
I'm getting to the age, too, when presents don't really mean anything to me. I buy myself what I want and I'm not someone who wants all of the latest gadgets - I like simple things that do the task and so Christmas isn't really a holiday for me - I just end up with a load of junk I don't need and an empty bank balance!!

Honestly it is suppose to be more about spending time together more than anything else. And I hear you on the birthday thing mine isn't to far after Christmas and my Granddaughter Bless her little heart is even closer Hers is Jan 2.
Maybe tell them you want to stay home and watch Miracle on 34th Street. Happy Holidays!!
