On December 1st, the six of us colleagues, who teach a different subject, left for Jinhua City, where Zhejiang Normal University is located, for a job fair to be held on December 2nd. When the day came on December 2nd, there were so many graduates coming to look for jobs that fit them. The spot was so crowded. We had a stand there for recruitment. Besides, we were offered two big classrooms in the university, one for the candidates to get prepared for giving a lecture and the other for them to give a trial lecture. We had more than thirty candidates, but there are eight vacancies. After having interviewed them, we have signed a contract with about fifteen of them, who are among the best. There are so many schools from the same province offering job vacancies or teaching positions for those graduates from different colleges and universities next year. There are also some companies there for recruiting university graduates. It was the first time for me to be at such a large-scale job fair for recruiting graduates. There are many more candidates than teaching job vacancies, but if the graduates change their mind to be engaged in some other lines of businesses, they can still easily find a job they can do. My question is: Have you ever been in job fairs either for finding a job or for recruiting new employees for your company or school? Thank you very much in advance for your response. Take care and enjoy your life. December 3rd, 2012. (14:45p.m. Cloudy to Sunny)

Hi there, Yes I have been in a job fair, both for finding a job and for recruitment. When I was a colllege student I worked part time in the college where I studied. And I was one of the people sitting in the booth to actually assist the recruiters/company representatives. I also worked in a recruitment agency for some months but was not able to be at a job fair. For several times I have been in a job fair but I got no luck there especially when it is so crowded.

Glad to know that you have experienced both finding a job and recruiting some employees at a job fair. Usually I help interview some candidates in the school, but this was the first time for me to be at a job fair. I consider it an exciting experience for me as a recruiter there yesterday. Have a good day, enelym.

Me too, I am not lucky in Job Fair. Some companies were limited when it comes ages. Most companies are call centers and fastfood which has age limit. So, its hard to land a job in a job fair.

I have to say the the volume of people gives me a sinking feeling in my stomach. There are long long lines and you don't know whether it will end or not in the nearest time. I get some opportunities in a job fair but none of them went really productive. That's the reason why is till stick to online job hunting. The net is so big and can also be specialized at the same time. But also, I do have plenty of competitors for the same job and I have been scammed one way or another.

Of course I've been into job fair at my University when I was in college. We were asked to pass a resume' and because of that, I still have calls about job even though it was after two years graduated from college. Job fair is good. It gives the new graduates opportunity to find a job and getting the job they like to get.

Jobs fairs do help the new graduates to find a job that they like. In our city there is a job fair office for job hunters to look for a job on the eighteenth and twenty-eighth of each month.

It's good to know that you always have a job fair in your place and it happens twice a month... wow!. It's helps jobless people to find work. If it happens here in my place I guess not a lot of people are swimming in poverty because my fellowmen are hardworking people if only if does them right.

Hi William, i ever been to a job fair before when i was looking for a job. It is very crowded and noisy during that time. In fact, i had visited job fair twice, another time was with my sister, who was looking for job. It is really very challenging since all the jobs only have a few vacancies but have many candidates. Indeed, it is not easy to get a good job nowadays.

It is that true that there are more applicants than jobs that can be offered at the job fair. Thanks to those different channels, people can also find work through them.

I agree that the posts for every applicant are limited compared with the applicants. But I wish everyone to find their work not only from the job fair but also from some other channels. Have a good day, jetztrose.

It is nice to have job fairs as it offers people chances to find a job. Every year in our country there is a job fair in each college or university for graduates. Also there are some other job fairs in each city, big or small. Those with special techniques can easily find a good job. Thank you for the response, friend. Take care.

Greetings Professor Ji, I have been to a US job fair in my hometown to seek a job and received many offers at the job fair that day. Unfortunately, at that time they were either for part-time, which would not meet my needs, or unsuitable situations, such as working too many hours with far too many responsibilities, such that I would rarely be home with my family. I found healthier opportunities within the week while looking on my own. Best wishes! :-)

The job fairs are common here. But it seems in these few years it is not so popular. It seems that this kind of fairs are mainly for blue collar jobs only. In the past when I looked for a job, I didn't go to the job fair because it was so crowded there and I didn't like it. I might not be outstanding there I just sent my resumes to apply for a job from the newspaper and internet. I think perhaps people like to look for a job through the internet today.

Now there are many ways of looking for a job, either at the job fairs or on the Internet or from newspapers. With so many platforms offered, I am sure everyone, either a blue-collar worker or a white-collar worker can find a job that fits him or her. Have a good day, youless.

Hello my friend williamjisir Ji, Well, I never had such experiences in my life, as before my marriage I was a teacher, (qualified for my teaching unlike simple Graduate). After my marriage, myu IN laws never desired that I should continue my job, and I remaioned throughout my life as a house wife. But I never repented that why I was not allowed. IN our country, if a person wants a teaching profession as her/his career, one should go after class 12th for four yrs course by recognised Govt colleges known as RECs ( Regional Education Centre), where like Doctors/Engineers/ Judges, they wil have trained teaching qualiofication and they would be 100% given a teaching job in Govt schools/Kendriya Vidyalayas. May God bless You and have a great time

I just graduated this year, so i can share you with my fresh memory for the job fair. There are two job fairs that have taken place, one in Dec and another in March. And before the fairs, i also have taken several rounds of interviews from different countries, but i have got no offer at that moment. Though there are plenty of companys on the fairs, i only chose several interested employers specifically. I have prepared dozens of my resume copies, but my classmates' are in stack. Fortunately, just several days after i got an offer from my favoriate employer, so i gave up the opportunites from the compays on job fairs. Overall, i found out the job fair will offer you a big hope to get a job, since i heard my classmates busy for the interviews after they participated in the job fair. And most of them successfully won a job, so i think job fair is really a good channel for the job hunters. As graduates, we really need to make full preparation for the coming fair.

Yes, I have been to a job fair, taking my chances to land on a better job. But it was a failure. There were so many applicants like me, although there were lots of companies too. I have tried to sneak in though I have already stable job, then. I like this job fair, it is giving opportunities to all people, qualified or not, degree holder or not, fat or thin, bald or curly, as long as they are willing and wanting to find a job. Some are successful, most are not, but there is no harm in trying it is there anyway, why not take chances.

There are many people in a job fair and so was it yesterday. The majority of them cannot succeed except a few. But they have some other ways to find a job elsewhere so long as they try. Everyone has to try his luck finding one, whether successful or not.
