I really, really, really need to watch it. It airs on Channel 4 over here in the UK I think, but I want to watch it from the start as I know I'd get into it.
My favourite television show is a toughy. I would say Doctor Who but I've not enjoyed it quite as much in recent years - although I'm excited about the new companion joining at Christmas as it was more the previous companion, Amy Pond, that put me off.
I think possibly my favourite show ever, which doesn't air anymore, is Ashes to Ashes. It was a spin off to the UK show Life on Mars, instead set in the 80s, but it had just the right level of Crime, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Drama and Romance for me to enjoy.

I am from the UK too and find that there are more BBT episodes on E4 than Channel 4.
I am not such a Dr Who fan now although I used to be.My wife watches it now, but she doesn't like Matt Smith, she much preferred David Tennant.
I liked Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars too - Gene Hunt is a legend!
The American re-makes look dire, however.

I think its certainly the case that Matt Smith is no where near as loved as David Tennant was in the role. He brought the show to new heights and I think Doctor Who has fallen back recently, with the showrunners other show, Sherlock, overshadowing it. Sherlock is brilliant.
Gene Hunt certainly is a legend!!! The things that came out of that mans mouth were hilarious.

I have watched the Big Bang Theory a few times, But like most American comedy - It is a little too smug. they seem to be very pleased with themselves.
However - GENE HUNT? - The Bloke is a LEGEND!

"DON'T MOVE! - You're surrounded by armed bast@rds"

It's not my favorites but it is good. I prefer how I met your mother, I always, watch that and big bang theory I watch if nothing else is on. It is funny tho nonetheless. Do you watch how I met your mother? I love most American sitcoms to be honest.

I confess that I have never seen How I Met Your Mother. I must keep an eye out for it. I agree that the US seems to have all the best sitcoms.

I really like The Big Bang Theory even though it plays up and uses the untrue stereotype about scientist. As a physicist I can truthfully say that most if not all of us are not like that. For instance I dated some very beautiful women both when I was in college, graduate school and after that when I was working. I played tennis when I was in graduate and was fairly good at it for someone who had never had lessons or much time to play. But I am able to laugh at them making fun of scientists. They also have many other stereotypes such a penny, etc. I also like some other comedies as well such as Modern Family.

I think the Big Bang characters have many redeeming features however-although this is not immediately apparent.Sheldon is really quite lovable beneath his sci-fi geek facade. Leonard comes across as a good egg and,as for them not dating beautiful women, he does hook up with Penny...who surely isn't bad?!!There is a definite human side beneath the geeky veneer-which is caricatured to the hilt in Sheldon's case. I think it is brilliant self-effacing humour that saves the day.
I also love Modern Family-particularly the characters Gloria , Phil and Cam.

Yes, The Big Bang Theory is my favorite comedy show. I think it's because the story revolves around nerdy characters, which I can relate to. If you ask my friends, I am considered a very nerdy guy. Between the Leonard, Raj, Sheldon, and Howard, I would have to say Sheldon is my favorite character. It's probably because of his lack of social skills that makes him so hilarious. Anyway, I have watched all the seasons up-to-date and will continue to watch the series.

Sheldon is surely the best character. I think it is his disconnect with social etiquette that is hilarious...albeit cringe-inducing!

Yes, i love big bang theory too.I watch it regularly. I would hate to have a friend like sheldon cooper but hes my favorite character on big bang. Its just the blend between science and comedy is just too good. Raj ,howard and lenard are funny too but no one can beat sheldon. I would still watch the show if there was only howard and raj ,their duo is very hilarious.

Actually, I enjoy watching the early seasons of Saturday Night Live back when Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman and Garrett Morris were on the show. Sadly, several have passed away, but you can see them on DVD. They were amazing together.

Big Bang Theory is one of the best comedy in television. Doctor Cooper is really good and they are so funny. I love watching this series. I love the How I Met Your Mother series as well. These two are my best sitcom series that I can recomend.
