I just want to share the fact that 3 December 1992 was indeed a historical day in technology.
Here’s an article about the birthday of Text Messaging:
http://news.yahoo.com/happy-20th-b-day-text-message-013407860--abc-news-tech.html
It’s interesting; before I read this, I did not even realize that it has been 20 years since the first text message was ever sent.

20 years already?!
In all that time I still haven't learnt how to use the T9 function when writing texts. Indeed I don't send many at all because I take so long to type them out that it is quicker to phone the person concerned

Well, it is great to know a little about history. We have so many things new in our generation that we tend not to know who created it and when it was introduce. All we do is use it and appreciate, yet never give it much thought on the very person who was responsible.

Yeah, some like Bill G, Steve J, or Mark Z are quite obvious... But I'd never known about some engineer Neil Papworth if I did not come across this article...
By the way, I recognize your username as one of the top referrers here... The only one who is also still active too...

Yummy
I just love anything chocolateeeee
For the snowman avatar... I read about some cakes which could be frozen and I was just trying one of those... but instead of the choco (which I finished before I could get it into the freezer), I hopped into the freezer

OMG time does fly, I can't believe it's been twenty years, now everyone in the world texts, it shows how technology has advanced so quickly, and how much we take technology for granted, of course texting has it's plus sides as well as bad sides like all things. 20 years ago I was 21 years of age, I wouldn't want to be 21 again that's for sure, thanks for sharing, I enjoyed reading the link

That does sound like a pretty important date in history. Now I see a lot of people in the outside world texting on their phones everyday, be it at a grocery store or waiting at a bus stop. Texting plans now are so much cheaper than calling plans with cell phone providers I can see why people now prefer to text someone rather than call them on their cell phones.

Sishy, wow that is interesting. I did not realize that it has been that long since text messaging started. I have only started really using text messaging a lot with about the last past two years. It seems like I am behind when it comes to technology. I still have an old flip phone. I have not even yet upgraded to a SmartPhone. I am thinking maybe next year to finally embrace that latest trend in technology. Truthfully, I do not even know how to access the web using my cell phone.

hi,
That's indeed interesting one. 20 years people are using text message. I dont know how many remember when they actually started using this technology. Especially people from those days i mean who exactly started using this facility right from that year.

I know, I was also trying to remember what I did at that time. I think I had a mobile phone back then and it was a huge motorola. That was around the time when car phones was also a new thing. And we used the mobiles mostly just to make calls. I can't quite remember if I ever started using text message from its inception.

It's not something I will celebrate as I hate texting and all it stands for-although I appreciate its usefulness in SOME situations. In a social context it is killing conversation. However, I did not know about the anniversary ...Fascin8ing!
