I guess it is to be expected. However,I didn't think that it will be this early. There was a group who sang carols in front of our house (perhaps they were at the neighbors) and i think they were given some coins beofre they dispersed. One group who snag in the afternoon really didn't went away after someone gave them coins. It seems that in that situation carols are really becoming a revenue strategy for kids.
In the coming nights, I will expect some people to turn off their lights or their TV just to escape the notice of the guys. But hey, it's Christmas, it's part of the deal.eventually, someone has to give. Usually,it's the housekeeper with the coins.

Oh my, I get them every night. But, we stay in the room upstairs all the time, so we just ignore the carolers, and they'd just go away. If we are downstairs and the caroling is really good, I wouldn't mind giving a few coins.

I don't either but most of the time, the singing is really terrible. like the composer of the song turns in his location.I don't mind giving money for a good song but if you do it to annoy the listeners and for an extra buck, that;s a good reason to grit the teeth and just hope that they go away.

Especially a group of kids who apparently don't know the meaning of christmas caroling. They're just out there to get the tip from the houses they go to. They sometimes don't even know the lyrics well. Some groups are fun to listen to, but some just make noise.

Good if they sing carols and do it well like they rehearsed their songs. Some kids just shout out "namamasko po!" and don't bother to at least sing "Jingle Bells". It seems that it has become some form of begging and the season has become their excuse to ask for money from households. How I wish that the true meaning of Christmas become the object of their singing. sigh...

I have to agree that it somewhat developed into harassment and begging. But we can't stop those people from singing carols and do it in their style of singing - if they call it singing anyway. For your last statement, me too.

It's the reverse here. It's tradition that children or any group of individuals can sing carols to any house. The house (often the hosuekeeper0 is the one who gives the money. Frankly, now I don't know whether the money is to bribe the singers to finish the song and leave or simply remains a traditional way of giving.

Yeah carolers will be here again since its already December especially the kids so I guess giving them coins would be okay. I remembered that we used to do it too with some friends during our childhood which was really fun and enjoy.
