The things I make I don't sell. But my new neighbor had a table in a town called Staples and she said it was the worst ever. No sales hardly and people complained about the colors she had for sale. They wanted different colors that day. Has anyone ever had a bad time at a craft sale where you don't make the money you spent on a table space? Have a good day

I only make crafts with plastic canvas and they don't sell very well. I did set up a table about 4 years ago and it cost me $5.00 for one day. Did this for several weekends. Traffic was good but my sales were slow. One day I couldn't even get the crafts out of my suitcase and people were buying like crazy. So I never had any idea how each day would go with sales. I tried Etsy too and that didn't work. Etsy is a good site but my craft wasn't appealing is all I can think. Several people I know sell on Craigslist and do well. What is your craft? Good luck.

Will have to let my friend know about Etsy. Let her decide if she wants to put her up or not. I tell her go on internet give it a chance. But she sometimes gets mad over little things. So will have to see. But Thank you for the info and I hope you have a Happy New Year.

It has actually been years since I have participated in a craft sale. However when I was younger this was something that my mother and I did every year with my grandparents and I have to admit that it is something that I have very fond memories of.
If memory serves me well, we always did really good and I rejember that I would typically make getween thirty and fifty dollars a weekend for my simple ornaments and friendship bracelets. My mom and grandparents would make much more with their plastic canvas, crochet and flower arrangements.
Now that my own daughter is getting old enough to make several crafts of her own, I am seriously thinking about getting into crafting again and doing some craft shows with her this coming year.

I wish you the best of luck with it.I know I had fun crafting with my Mom when I was little and I passed it on to my son. He made me a painted bird house for Christmas. He is now 22 and still going to craft stores. His girlfriend is very happy. Have a Happy New Year...

I have done a lot of different shows over the yrs. Many times I have done quite well and very Glad I went. But I did just recently do a show a week ago where I made nothing. It just did not have the turn out, etc. (But a yr. ago did $75, so you never know.) It could be the economy but things are slower this yr. it seems.

I do sell my crafts and have good luck. The thing you have to remember is that you have to have more then one thing on your table...and you have to have something new all the time to give them a reason to come back the next time you are around. I know a ton of crafters that haven't had good luck for a while. I tell them to take the crap off their table that they have been making for the last 15 years and get new stuff....people that say they wanted different colors probably wouldn't buy the stuff if you had all the colors. Oh...and always have a consumable product that they can justify buying....like something they will use.

I sell my crochet to friends and some people, at first the sales weren't great. Some friends try to ask the craft for free not wanting to pay it because "we are friend", they should learn the difference between friendship and business. I already gave free small brooches as sample for each of my friend, but I expect them to understand that I sell my craft as business and not asking for freebies whenever I make new model. Another thing is that people try to bargain as low as possible although I already set my price cheaper than the wholesale store, they still complaining that my craft is too expensive.

I used to make boxes and notebooks and cover them with fabrics. I sold them and many bought my crafts. I was so happy then. The profit was not that big however there is a fulfillment in it and help in other expenses. :-) It is good to develop one's crafts and talents and share it to some people. :-)
Have a nice day!

I think this year has been not so great for sales of anything around here - the recession is finally starting to hit us, and I think people are being more careful. I didn't book the table, my friends did, and they made back what they had spent on the table, but they didn't sell much. Only one of my items sold, although that could have been because I only made one size so it was rather limiting.

Yes I do know all about pinching pennies now. And yes only making one size or even just a few will limit your sales. My friend is making more sizes now as well, I told her that maybe older people would like slippers. So now she is making more. you have a great day.

i only do one craft sale per year and fortunately, i didn't have to pay for the table but i didn't sell very many crafts at all. i ended up selling more garage sale stuff than i did crafts.
my mom used to do craft sales all the time and used to complain a lot about that sort of thing. she sold shirts and i suppose they were not to everyones liking.

Yes I do know that feeling where no likes anything. That is what my friend was saying and I told her. Well, not every one will like everything. She was kind of upset. But I told her not to take it to heart. I don't sell mine I give them away as they are not so perfect.

This is the main reason why I am scared of participating in bazaars and craft sale events. The tables and spaces are expensive and sometimes you don't even sell a single thing. So the money you put in to rent the space will just go to waste and I can't afford to waste money or lose some. I always want to be sure, So I don't join bazaars and things like that. I only sell online as of now because I don't know yet how to go about when joining those.
