I've been losing between 1 and 3 pounds a week. I was really happy when my daughter gave me a dress of hers that is now too big on her. My daughter has lost over 40 pounds and I have also. I tried on the dress and it fits me well. It goes down to my ankles. It's a summer dress but since it is still in the 70s here I can certainly wear it. We have some cold days in the 40s but mostly it is still warm.
As long as I eat plenty of fruit and veggies I continue to lose. I like to munch on raw carrots and apples and grapefruits. I also like celery and peanut butter for a great snack sometimes.

You would live it here Ricki. It's so warm that the most you need is a sweat shirt most of the winter. Last year I only had to wear a coat 4 days. It was summer almost all winter. I can't take cold weather. My arthritis is bad as it is. I'd be worse if it was cold.

We don't use winter tires here. There isn't enough bad road conditions to warrant them. Last year we never got snow or ice. I have gloves and scarves that I never get to wear. We have had winters where we have snow for a few days, but they aren't often.

Some winters it drops to -50C here, and your snot freezes. Luckily, last winter was very warm (the warmest in my entire life), we didn`t have snow until Christmas Day (we actually woke up, and had a green Christmas). We were told this winter is suppose to be a bad one, I already have my winter tires on ready to go. Usually we bundle up in 4 -5 layers (at least I do with jacket, then mittens, hat, and scarf). I would love walking around in just a sweater. I know last year we were walking around in tshirts, flipflops, and shorts because it was hot to us.

Wow! That's one great achievement! What kind of food did you usually take to lose weight? And how long have you been losing weight?

I had to make lifestyle changes. I eat regular food but more fruits and veggies. I eat about 8 fruits and veggies a day. I had a gastric bypass that worked for the first 18 months but after that I slowly gained 70 pounds back of the 150 I lost. I now only have 30 pounds to go and will have list back what I regained.

Cut out the white carbohydrates and the rest should come off pretty quickly. Eat more fish and less beef. Cut way down on dairy products. They key is keeping your fat burning cells on instead of storing fat.

I'd like to try that out, too! Hopefully, I'll start that after the Christmas Season! But seriously, I think that is really great way to lose pound the healthier way instead of starving yourself just to be able to lose weight. Thanks a lot Pointless!

hi pointlessquestins oh how did you do it thats just awesome . I h ave lost from 220 to 195 but need to g et down to 150 for better control of my diabetes. I am proud of you aned your daughter. It does take a bit of will power but veggies and fruits are really filling and they are stingy with veggies here. I should get to the 99 cent store and buy some tomatoes and veggies like that. I love celery stuffed with peanut butter. its a healthy snack too.We do get some great homemade veggie soups here and I often ask for seconds to get my veggies for the day.

Hi Auntie! I eat 8 servings if fruits and veggies a day. When u eat them I am eating less of other things. I also make lots if soup. I use tomato juice as my stock base. I use a lot if salsa in my soups. I drain the fat off my ground beef when I make chili or taco soup. I also make different variations of it with chicken and I'll do the same with turkey. I'm gonna make one today with leftover turkey. I use lots of pinto beans in my soups and a moderate amount if meat. I am not able to exercise much anymore due to back and knee pain, but I do what I can. I go iutside and sweep the driveway, and do housework. I would probably lose faster if I could exercise more.

Good for you! I got a bit bored with the usual fare of potatoes and garden (frozen) peas so we eat more carrots now too. They're good for the eyes don't you know lol. You never hear of blind rabbits do you, so there you go.
When I worked in a city called Preston many moons ago I'd sometimes go out and treat myself to a ham salad barm cake and, more often than not, the guys behind the counter would put grated carrot on there.
Believe me, raw, grated carrot is awesome!

I guest I'm an odd ball. I don't like the usual green veggies, salads or most any other "rabbit food". I have always liked the what my Grandfather always said. "I don't eat the stuff rabbits eat, I feed it to them, then eat them." Of course, I'm not talking the pet rabbits out there. I am just more of a meat and potatos fan.
With that said, I still am hoping that I will have similar result to what I have already have done in the past. Eat smaller portions. My mom has done this too and has lost down from a size 24 down to a size 18. She borrowed one of my kids baby plates and she uses it for her meals. At first it was tough, but once her stomach got use to the small portions, she get full faster. Her (and mine) calorie intake is about 2200 calories a day. So far we both have see results.
I am open for more suggestions. Please bring them on! :)

I don't deprive myself of anything. I made some banana chocolate chip cookies the other day. I froze them and take a few out each day to nibble on. They are very small so I eat 2 or 3 a day when I want something sweet. I eat carrots and raw broccoli and raw cauliflower just because I like to chew when I feel like snacking. I don't like salads much because they can be very high in calories when you factor in the dressing. I hate that fat free junk. I eat the veggies because they satisfy me and they are a good way to prevent different types of cancer, so there will always be fresh fruits and veggies on my plate. There is good medicine in healthy foods. I still eat meat and potatoes but I also eat a child's portion.

Now I dont feel like such an odd ball. I never really thought of the veggies as more of a chewy item. I have heard of people chewing gum to help with cravings, but I guess that chewing veggies is better because you get the vitamins from them and they do not cause cavities. Thanks for the suggestion!

If you eat more fruits and veggies instead of other stuff tou will lose weight over time. I don't lose fast, but I made a positive lifestyle change that works for me. First of all, I don't go on a diet, because going on a diet that isn't a permanent lifestyle change will only bring a temporary loss. I cut out junk food, but if I want a cookie, I don't deny myself. I don't eat chips or candy. When I snack it is on raw fruits and veggies. I eat 8 servo gs if fruits and veggies a day. When I eat more fruits I am eating less over all.

That is Fantastic! Congradulations! I was curious though, did you lose it by making a life style change? Such as, a permenant change in diet and the way you exercise. Or by using a diet or medical way of losing the weight?
I am a mom of 4 and I have seizures, so it is difficult for me to to diet or exercise properly because I have more seizures the more I am active. I am not huge by any means, but who out there wouldnt like to lose a few pounds? I have lost about 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks and I am slowly losing more. So far all I have done is made a change how much I eat and drink more liquids. (mostly diet coke lol).
I will be interested in finding out how you lost your weight and how others out there are doing it!

To be honest, I am losing previously regained weight. I lost more than 150 pounds since 2001 with a gastric bypass and then slowly gained back 70 pounds. So now I have 30 pounds to go and that 70 will be lost again, then I will make my goal to lose more weight.
I don't deprive myself of anything, but I eat lots if fruits and raw veggies. I eat beef the size of my palm and a little more if chicken and turkey. I don't eat to get full. As soon as I feel satisfied I quit eating. If I eat even one bite too much I will feel sick due to the bypass, so it's important to listen to my body.
When I gained the weight I wasn't eating fruits and veggies regularly. I was grazing more on processed carbs. I don't do that now, but I will have a small sweet if I want it.

That is great! My grandmother was more that 500 lbs when she finally had the surgery done. She lost a lot of it, but she kept eating junk food and large meals and it wasnt long before she had gained it back. I am no where near that but I dont want to get that big either. I dont like to eat and I am a terrible cook. I guess that helps too! :)

Well, good for the both of you! And since you get your daughter's hand-me-downs you don't have to spend any money on a new wardrobe. She can do all the buying. Though I guess you'd like some new underwear. Nothing more important than a properly fitted bra!

I'd like to try a genie bra but I've only seen them in a pack of three around here, and I don't want to buy three the first time out.

Thanks so much. Lifestle changes is how we are doung it. My daughter got her a set of two genie bras from Walmart. She looks good in them and I'm gonna get me some next month when I go shopping. I hate how my bra straps fall down all the time. The genie bra doesn't fall down like other bras do.

I'm glad that you are doing so well with your weight loss. It always makes me happy to hear (or, in this case, read) of someone eating healthfully and doing better.
We just did a major grocery shopping--actually, it was the first time since we moved in here--and that included lots of whole grains and fresh veggies and fruits. I feel so much better now that our kitchen is decently stocked. We'd been doing the "dribs and drabs" shopping since we moved in several weeks ago, and that just wasn't working for me.

I'm not physically able to walk or exercise much. I do what I can though. I eat 8 servings if fruit and veggies daily. Eating those means I have less room for other stuff, but I do eat a balanced diet of protein, carbs and fats. I make a lit if soups with a moderate amount if meat. I use more beans in my soups. I usually use pinto beans, because I really like them.
