When You Start Discussions

Do you seem to get more friend requests after starting a discussion (like it seems I do?) I think almost every time I have started one I get a friend request or two the next day more so then if I have not done it. I'm not complaining though, I don't mind friend requests at all. In fact I would accept most anyone who requests me as their friend. I was just wondering if it happens to you as well. And have you noticed this too or is it just me noticing too much? I think they are usually mostly newbies as well. Its nice to get new friends...

I welcome friend's request anytime here and I gladly accept them. I do get them when I start discussions and respond to some as well. I believe this just shows that mylot is continuing to grow.

I hope Santa is a member here and reads you comment above, that way he'll know and wrap up a keyboard for you this Christmas.

Yes it does seem like the site is continuing to grow more and more. I'm not sure how many members the site has now, members that are fairly active at least. If I had a decent keyboard I would probably be able to type better and use the site more often.

That's not happening to me... But I think it's because I do not start many discussions; and on the rare occasions that I do, it's mostly responded by those who are already on my friends list anyway. I think the FR that I receive are mostly prompted by responses or comments that I leave on discussions started by other.

That could be the reason if you don't start them, then not many will "notice" you are here right away if they are new, I assume anyways. I think the newbies scan the new convos more often than us that have been here for almost a year more or less.

Thats is what happen to me also , but I like to get more familiar with the person before accepting . I will keep the request until I see more post from them because I would not want them to just make two post and vanish .

hello friend, yes, I too get a lot of friend requests, but not when I start a discussion, but when I respond to the discussions where in some serious matters are being discussed. I get friend requests from the people who have been started the discussion or from the people who would have been in the conversation in the discussion. The other instances where i get the request is from the newbies who just send requests and once accepted, then they send the referral links to some of the proven scam sites. Such messages I just ignore.

Yes, I probably get them too for that but I am noticing more and more the times where I start the discussions is when I'll get more friends request in general. Not saying everytime though. I'm happy I get them, as I do not always get many who respond to my discussions for whaetever reason.

I have found this as well, some see you active and want to scam you (which then I delete them right away). But some see you active, and think this is my opporunity. I find I tend to add the more active members, and posting discussions with this idea.

I used to see some scam "messages" in my topic but i think their account is delete since long time i haven't seen their message anymore. All friends in my list, i never delete anyone because sometime i am very active, i can post many topics and discussions a day but sometime i can't be active, for instance, this time, i am not very active at all, 1 just post 1-2 discussions a day only because i don't want to do it in the lab in my school while i stay in the lab from morning till midnight.

Many do not stay active, I guess they get bored and just don't have the time to look into things here very often. It happens.

Yes, now that you mention it, I get them when I start a discussion as well. It's generally when I request a friend as well if someone says something, makes a comment that touches me or that I can relate to.

I don't get to start new discussions much but, I do get friend requests almost daily. :) I don't mind adding all friend requests and I keep on sending friend requests too. But yes, I think, most who ask for friend requests are newbies. I just hoep they will still be around here in myLot more.

Yes, likewise.I also noticed when I started a discussion after a day or two it seems that there are at least three that I received as friend's requests. Though, it doesn't matter a lot to me. I just think it as an advantage because before I go to my main profile I usually check my yahoo mail first and then I just see there my friends started discussion so I just pick there , a less hassle in browsing on the tab of discussions.

Yes, I have noticed. I just started with MyLot and I have noticed that if I start a discussion, then someone makes a friend request. I am like you, I will just about accept anyone's friend request. You never know if that person will indeed turn out to be a good and helpful friend. All the best to you in life and on Mylot.

I've noticed that too. Even though I don't start my discussion I still get some friend requests. I guess they see me when I respond to some of the available discussions. LOL. You're right. Most of them are newbies. Yes, we should accept them as our friends. Let's make myLot one big happy family.
