Treat others the way you would want to be treated

Respect is something that seems to have lost it's way in this world. It starts when people don't teach it to their kids so the kids grow up rude and ignorant. I think it was good you refused this persons request. Maybe it taught him a lesson in how to treat people.

Definitely. Some people wish to be treated fairly but they can't do the same thing to others. Although it is always said to throw bread when someone throws you a stone but sometimes there are instances that we must give them the dose of their own medicines for better understanding.

It can be misconstrued as an example, I would like other people to praise me, then I praise them as well. "I praise you; remember to praise me in time." I missed that someone else will love me, so I can love them. I miss if I have inadvertently hurt someone else then I will be forgiven, and therefore I will forgive those who hurt, too. I miss if I am experiencing financial hardship or illness or spiritual crisis, people will remember me. Therefore, if you have a spiritual or material need, I will help because if I was in that situation, I hope there will also be helping me. But note that this is just a desire. I can not guarantee that what I do for you would you do also to me. Here you do not ask for guarantees from the party receiving it. But you do this as a spiritual hope, that is, what I would expect for you to do to me, I'll do it for you.

That's true... that is one of the greatest commandment "dont do unto others what you dont want others do unto you" . I remember the Amalayer girl"when she yelled and argued with the lady guard at lrt santolan. She dont even care that she is making scandal and she showed disrespect to that guard. Respect begets respect. if you want to be respected, start it with yourself.

I was told by my parents since I was a kid to treat others the way we want them to threat us. It's been in my practice for so long. Till now I see that sentence is always true. The meaning behind is to make good to everyone no matter who they are. It also applied to bad people, addict, criminal, etc. But with them, we must extra care and smart so that we not fall into their trap. We just smile to them and never make good friend with them cause at any point of time they will turn back to us and bite us. But, in case they in need, just freely help them cause they also human beings like us. If we practice this kind of attitude, we can have friend wherever we go. People will always happy to be our friend.

Yes I definitely agree with this phrase just to be fair and I don't agree to what Confucious said "Don't do to others what they don't want to do to you" because not everyone will pay respect to anyone.

Rude people just seem to follow me around. It's more than respect, it's about manners as well. Do people really have to talk *loudly* in the store while on their cell phones? Why can't they finish their conversation before they come into the store? Do they have to cough in their hand when they're cashing me out at the register? Do they have to cut in front of me when I'm walking in the store? Do they have to call me every little pet name? No, it's not respect, it's manners and these people don't have any. It truly speaks to their character, and in my opinion, they are lacking. It was so sweet and nice, when I ran into that older lady and she looked at me and just **smiled**. It truly made my day. It outweighed all those rude incidences, she was my blessing. Teach your kids some manners people.

My day was so good as Thursday and Friday are holidays here in Dubai. I do agree with you point. I believe in the principle Give respect and take respect. Even in a relationship also it is to be followed.

So very true , if you want respect then you must first have it. Don't do things which you never wanted to be done to yourself. Karma is true and will happen.

You are right. If that person want other people respect him/her, he/she should respect other people. If he/she to rude of course other people dont want to respect him/her. Important things each person should respect each other.

Oh. I guess there are many rude people all over the world now. If they want to be respected, they should also know how to respect others. I guess we encounter this problem every day. Where are their manners nowadays?
