Hey guys i am big time shopaholic and whenever i get time i go out for shopping. I do not like to spend too much on shopping and i see to it that each penny of mine is spent wisely. I feel that by shopping i am able to get relief from my depression or any stress at work. It acts like a stress buster for me and unless and until i get tired i keep on shopping stuffs. He he he. What are your thoughts regarding this? Are u shopaholic like me? What basically u like to shop? Please share your thoughts!

I think i also have the same nature as you. I also don't waste money for shopping. Two weeks back, i have found a great shopping deal where you will get the products for free. Instead of paying by currency you have to pay the shop with your opinions about the product. You can find more details in my blog which is updated in my profile. Happy Shopping.

@moneyham- Thanks a ton for your response. Yes it is not about wasting money but i think it is about spending the money wisely and not extravagantly. I think if there are some stuffs which really attracts us then we should get it provided we are financially stable and sound at that point of time, otherwise we would be regretting at the last moment. I think if u are getting the products for free then u should have definitely tried your hand at it, verified the stuffs and got something for u. What say?

As long as you buy what you need at reasonable prizes and spend only what you or your family's budget allow. I did spend too much once and when payday came, I had to pay the balance incurred. Oh my.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes even the same goes for me, as long as i am comfortable shopping with my budget and if i see the prices to be affordable and reasonable for me, i never stop myself from shopping. He he he. Well i know it might have been tough for u on the day of your payday as u have done so much shopping before without realizing that u will have bear the grunt of payday in the future. Well i think that would have been an eye opener for u. What say?

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes i know as u have mentioned earlier that you wife is very particular about spending money and i think that is really a great thing because there needs to be someone in the family who should regulate the amount of money being spend otherwise unnecessary spending would be there always. I think she is doing a great job and i know that would be helping u to keep the money spending within limits. What say?

Yes it helps if you have already set a fixed budget for shopping. In my case my wife helps fix my shopping budget and she is very strict about it :))

I tend to go shopping as a stress reliever, usually later at night when most people are asleep. This is when no one is standing in my way and no one is hurrying to get through, no kids yelling or crying. Yep, I love the stores that are open all night. I can spend a lot of time there, I put things in the buggy that I like or want and after a while of walking around and thinking, I go and put most everything back after weighing whether it is worth the money or not, whether I really want or need something. In the end, I go from a very full or half full buggy to one or two things by the time I'm ready to leave. I don't go to grocery stores, I like the department stores where I don't have to worry whether or not ice cream is going to melt or something along those lines.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well that was really great to hear that u love shopping at late night when no one is around so that u can shop without any hassles around u only if the shops are open throughout the night also. Well even i love to shop when no people are around me as it gives a freedom to shop individually and independently without any distractions from the other people. I loved the way u said that u go out with either half or full buggy without seeing the money and that is a great spirit. What say?

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Even i prefer shopping at the working hours so that i wont have to face the grunt of crowd and hence i generally move out to the shopping malls in the late afternoon where i find less crowd and so that i can do the shopping with open hands otherwise it gets crowded heavily in the evening time. I do not prefer late night shopping as the shops here get closed at early as 9.30pm so i restrict my shopping to late afternoon hours. What say?

I usually shop sometime in the afternoon. Yes there are usually lots of people during those off working hours. I think I will try late night shopping for a change :)

Since you spend your money wisely, I don't think that's being a shopaholic. I think shopaholics are compulsive buyers who purchase things even if they don't need it. They can't resist buying something that catches their fancy even if they already have a similar item bought before. I myself like to shop especially clothing and gadgetry. It makes me feel good for some reason.

@beamer88- Thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are absolutely right, that i spend my money wisely but the money i am having money in my hand i spend it all due to shopping but i see to it that the money is spent on the right products and that is why i consider myself shopaholic. I know there are many people who are freaks when it comes to shopping and i am no match to them as they get things impulsively without thinking anything. I too love shopping clothes and accessories. What say?

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your response. Yes shopaholics are too difficult to control when it comes to shopping. They feel like hunting like a wild animal on all the stuffs present in front of them so that other people do not grab it. They forget to realize that they are putting pressure on their credit cards. They should understand the fact that they have to shop wisely and money should not be wasted this way, it can be spent wisely and used on better things. What say?

I agree with you beamer88. I also think that shopaholics are those who buy the things their eyes see until they max up their credit limit.

hi, You spend wisely .That's really good. Because some really don't notice how much they spend when they go shopping. But they feel sad afterwards for being so impulsive. I am learning how to spend wisely .

@prashu228- Thanks a ton for your response. Yes u are right, i try to spend money as wisely as possible so that the next time i do not question my commitment towards saving money and regret my decision of unnecessary spending. I know there are many people around us who keep on spending money like anything as if money is grown on the trees in their backyard and i am pretty sure they must be regretting in the end regarding this. They have to learn how to shop and spend wisely. What say?

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your response. Yes u are absolutely right, shopping should be done only if it extremely necessary to do so otherwise window shopping is the best option available. He he he. I think while shopping, money has to be spent wisely by looking at the price and quality of the products and if we want to get every thing at one single go then we will be only wasting our money and nothing else. They will be laying unused at our home. What say?

It is wise to spend our money only on things that we really need. Other things will most probably become junk that only gather dust and fill up the room.

I don't really shop all the time. When there is a need that arises I shop. Of course, one must have money to shop. I also shop online when I cannot shop at mall since I have with me a three year old son. It is more convenient for me. Anyway, I just finish my christmas shopping and I do it online. :-) Have a blessed Christnas to come!

@edvc77- Thanks a ton for your response. Well i am glad to know that u do shopping online due to your family commitments and i think that is absolutely fine as u have to deal with your 3 year old son and online shopping is also assuring good service these days so u can avail it anytime. I liked the way u said that one should shop only if it is necessary to do so and i completely agree to u on this point otherwise money would be spent in a wrong way from our hands. What say?

I do online shopping occasionally and find it convenient. Say hi to your three year old son for me edvc77 :)

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your response. Well i have never felt the need of shopping online as there are about 7 to 8 shopping malls near my house and hence my shopping is always restricted to these malls only. Ha ha ha. Well coming back to shopping online, i have heard that it is more reliable and even guarantees u money back scheme if we are not happy with any product which is a great thing and the shipping charges are also not charged in many cases. What say?

i have learned that i shouldn't use shopping to make myself feel better because i have credit card debt and after shedding the credit card and living on cash and staying out of stores unless absolutely necessary plus finding new hobbies, i feel much better.
• India
8 Dec 12
@cher913- Thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are absolutely right, for some shopping might be a stress buster while for some it is the reason of paying heavy debts due to shopping. I know u must be suffering due to the debts due to which u are not able shop as expected and i think u should try to clear all your debts so that it does not worry u for long and as u said u try to find our new hobbies where u can find solace and pleasure. What say?

@Isjapdoit- Thanks a ton for your response. Yes u are absolutely right, even many of my friends and relatives are being the grunt of credit card debts as they had never expected to see this kind of situation in the future after shopping. I think its an eye opener for them on how to spend wisely and how to shop according to one's necessity. I know for some shopping is like an obsession but that does not mean shopping like a freak every time. What say?

It can be hard for some people to control the shopping desire. I know some friends having headache finding how much they have used their credit card for shopping by the end of every month :)) They should perhaps do the way you do about it. They will have a lot less headache that way.

That's interesting! If that makes you feel better to get relieved from stress and depression, why not. But hopefully you don't end up buying things you really don't need. From your statement, you said that you make sure that you spend every penny wisely. I am more to online shopping though. Sometimes when I see a lot of items on sale with a huge discount, I have adrenaline rush and ends up buying a lot of things. Then I realize, I don't really need them. Online shopping are sometimes addicting.

You are right fortknox75. Those huge discounts offered online can be very tempting :)) Good that my wife always looks over my shoulder, she helps make sure that I only buy things our family needs :))

I am not a shopaholic but I do love shopping. The one thing I am concerned about is that probably it would lead you to a certain frenzy of addiction. Since you feel a satisfaction while going shopping, it would somehow take negative effect with regards to what you are doing. Let’s just say that too much of something is bad and that probably you’ll end up buying things that is not really useful or important in your day to day life. I suggest you choose things that are in your needs and not for the sake of buying or satisfying your shopping urges.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well yes u are absolutely right, by shopaholic i meant that whenever i go for shopping i get lots of thing and not by frequent shopping as i know the value of each penny in my life. I know many people who go frenzy and crazy for shopping and they can be seen shopping any time and spending their valuable money on unnecessary things and i hope i never come under the category of such people. What say?

@leeandrew- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well my dear friend, nothing like that as u think. I try to do savings for some months and the moment i feel it is the right time for me to spend the money, i go out for shopping. Now since i am a short tempered person, i make it a point to vent my anger on shopping. He he he. I can understand your situation and i know your hubby wont refuse to lend u money so that u can shop gleefully without any issues. What say?

shopping too is my way to relax myself and to unwind since i`m a full time mom so i`m always with my child so whenever i have a chance to go shopping i will.. i usually shop for our home needs and of course clothes for my self and family.. but i don`t do it often because i see too it that i will not spent so much because every coin now is valuable..

@neelia27- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well yes u are absolutely right, being a full time mom u must be getting ample time to shop since u must be getting bored to be there at home the whole day. I completely agree to u on this that each coin spent is valuable and we have to know the value of each penny otherwise unnecessary expenditure would be on cards and we would be at loss. Being a full time mom, i know u must be aware of this thing. What say?

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well that is nice to hear from u as most of my shopping is also restricted to clothes and matching accessories. I have a huge collection of clothes and i make it a point to wear them on different days but at the end of the day i am the troubled one because after that i am left with no new clothes and have to buy new ones also. Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right, sometimes i also indulge in window shopping so that i can get the feel of the products that is present in that shop. This will help me come again to that shop and get that thing for myself. I am very much particular about fashion and hence i see to it that i buy limited things and which will suit me and will help me feel fashionable and comfortable at the same time. I do not try to get unnecessary things otherwise it will get wasted at home. What say?
