Well, I am lucky enough to work for a company with really nice benefits. We are given 15 days leave (vacation leave) that we are required to consume for the whole year. After we have consume it all, we will be given additional bonus. How awesome is that, a bonus for taking a leave!
Most of my workmates strategy, including myself is we save a some of that 15 days for December. This year, I was able to save the 10 days for this month. I'll be resting and relaxing in our house for 2 weeks without work. My vacation leave starts this coming Monday and I am so excited for it!
I sooooo love Christmas!

It's really nice to have these kind of privilege. Our office also allowed us 15 days vacation leave and 15 days sick leave. Aside from that we are allowed to have 3 special privilege leave which we must consume in a year's time together with the 5 vacation leave also known as forced leave.
Until now I was not able to consume any of these privileges because of our recently conducted training. So maybe I have to consume all of these before the end of the year.
Have a nice day!

Your company should also have bonuses like ours to employees would really be forced to consume their leaves.
We also have our 15 days sick leave as well, aside from the vacation leave. And would you believe that we even have sick leave bonus as well? If we were not able to consume our sick leave for the whole year and had kept the 15 days unused, we will be given an additional bonus equivalent to a one month salary! How cool is that?!

Wow, I envy you for having a long time vacation for Christmas! Have a very merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Enjoy your long holiday with your family. How I wish our company will do the same. We also have about 15 days leave in a year but sometimes my vacation leaves are forfeited and the leaves will be reset to zero again. We'll I guess it's not our company's problem, but rather mine not scheduling my leaves before they get forfeited. Although my boss is considerate enough that she allows me to still use those forfeited vacation leaves 'under the table' - meaning, I don't have to file my vacation leave in the system anymore.
So if your vacation leave starts today, does it mean you will be working on the Christmas week? Isn't it better if you have delayed it for a week so you will have you vacation from December 14 - 28 instead?
Anyway, it's still a long vacation leave for you and hope you spend it well with your family and loved ones.
Merry Christmas to you!

I have planned my vacation really carefully, so I can spend those 10 days wisely. Well, to be specific, my vacation leaves are on 10, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27, and 28.We have our Christmas party on the 21st so I decided to "work" on that date. Lots of food on that day and I am excited for it.
Sad to know that yours have been forfeiter. Well there's always next year I guess/ Hope next year, you'll be able to plan you vacation well so you can enjoy it as well.

The only thing that I envy the corporate world is the bonus. But that will only happen if the company is performing really well. I guess you, like many of your colleagues, deserve the rest and the bonus. Then, maybe you're be rejuvenate for another year of work.

some Bonuses are mandatory here in my country. If I am not mistaken, the Christmas or the 13th month bonus should always given by a company to its employees. I am just lucky enough to work for a company which is really doing so great that it can afford other bonuses!

I have heard of a lot of companies doing such things. It helps to keep the employees productive, so it actually benefits the employer. Who wants an overworked stressed out employee working for them. I think it's a smart company that offers such great incentives to their employees.

Yes, it really does makes sense too. Taking a day off becomes mandatory so employees will be forces to rest because if we don't, then we will be stressed out too much that it my lead to sickness. And companies do not want sick employees because it just means non-productivity.
