all work, no play: risky!

Most of us seem to neglect our own health by working all day (even all night too) trying to make more than a living. Yes, all work; no play is risky. We should always remember that health is wealth.
I just realize this when I am stuck at home because of sickness. And it is no ordinary illness at all. Just last March I was sent to the hospital for difficulty of breathing and we found out that I have a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) which is congenital (i haven't known) and my over fatigue got severe which was caught by severe pneumonia. After a month of observation, I was released from the hospital still an oxygen on me. I was denied for heart operation since my lungs already failed and the risk was high.
Yes, I have overworked myself, working at day and studying at night, sleeping for just three to five hours a day; all work, no play. That contribute a lot to my condition.
We should not neglect our health conditions. Let us start a healthy living. Health is wealth, indeed.

probably.. what you mean is... all work no rest is a risk to good health. People these days needs to work hard because the salary we get from our job is not enough for a living. It won't even get us far reason why we still need to work even at night when we were suppose to be resting.
That's bad, I hope you could recover from that sickness soon. This time try to be kind with yourself and give it a break specially after hard work. Our body needs sleep and rest so that it could recover the strength it loses for the days work.

Yes, that's what I mean, working to earn more than a living. Most of us if not all are not contented with what we already have and want to work more to gain what we don't have and worst is the wages we get is not enough for a living. That's why others still work even at night.
Yes my friend, I have all my time now to sleep and rest because I stopped working. And I am recovering so fast. :)

I am sorry for what happened to you my friend. Sleeping less than 6 hours can really be detrimental to health. It's the time when our cells are being repaired after the day's work and you deprived yourself of that.
I always think of my health. I work but just enough that my body can bear. That's because i know that health is wealth.

Good for you my friend, you give enough time to sleep. Yes, I knew that health is wealth, however, when I studied at night required me a lot of time to read especially assigned cases. So bad, I have abused myself. :(

You can replenish your lack of sleep by sleeping when you have enough time already. Besides, it's nice to read when you have just awaken, because it can really absorb well, what you are reading.

I do agree with you my friend. However, during that time I was having hard time to cope-up with my studies that's why most of the time I really skip sleeping.

If we don't look after our own health and wellbeing, then we will get sick quicker and when are sick we are unable to work. It is importance to get good balance, in our lives, and set time aside for 'ourselves' to pursue leisure pursuits and to enjoy our time. We cannot buy our health and if we ignore the signs our body are telling us then we ignore them to our peril. Sometimes we don't realize what we are doing to ourselves until it's too late to do anything about it and we look back with regret that we spent all our time working and not enjoying life or taking time out to enjoy it.

Yes, agreed! We should be health conscious and never ever neglect it if we are so busy at work or whatsoever, despite of this we should think that our health is very essential. We will still continue the health habits. Be healthy ! :)

That's why some companies make it mandatory for the employees to take their vacations. And some professions like pilots, for example, have maximum working hours in a shift when they have to take their breaks at the end of the shift. We all have our limitations.
