The 13th month pay is mandatory for employers to give to their employees, on or before Christmas. That’s what is nice with the Christmas season. Hence, as early as Novemberr, I already have a budget as to what I will spend it for since I know how much will it be. But as to bonus, I don’t have yet, because I don’t know if we will be given that too. What’s your say friends?

oh my... i also have done that. prepared budget on how to spend the 13th month wisely. but unfortunately, i didn't budget for the additional withholding tax! it's like taking almost all of my bonus! i gave birth last January, and the taxes to my medical benefit only came in now...

Why would the 13th month have withholding tax? Well, if it's 30,000 pesos and above, it is indeed taxable. So i guess, it's more than that.

Oh how I wish my 13th month is more than 30K. But it did really took a big part to consume my non-taxable allowance. Other company benefits also are included in the count. And as I mentioned, I gave birth last January and some certain amount was covered by the company and is included in the potential taxable. but the final computation for the above 30K was only done last November. SO the taxes came in together with the 13th month...

Yes, we really have to think of something to give to ourselves also whenever we receive our 13th month pay. It's one way of treating ourselves for working hard. Well, as to bonus, i hope we will have one this year.

Last year, i was with another affilliate, who didn't give bonus because they didn't profit. But my boss gave me from her own pocket. This time, she transferred me again to another affiliate but at least it's gaining. I really hope we will be given a bonus. BUt if not, i know my boss will again give me from her own. !

Well, I actually have no idea if we are still getting a Christmas bonus where I work or not. Sometimes they give it out with the paycheck before Christmas and sometimes during the Christmas party. It will be nice if they do do this, as my husband just got his, but if not I guess it will not be the end of the world. Just will probably buy some groceries if I do get one.

As for me , my friend, the bonus will determine how much shopping money will i give to our daughter. And the rest will be for some thing that i will buy for myself also. My husband and i just give her money for her own shopping, because every time we buy her gifts like clothes and shoes, she doesn't like them .

Enjoy the 13th month pay. We do not have similar concept here in India. But we do have companies which do dole out bonuses on special occasion once a year. Sadly for me this year, I will not be eligible for the bonus as I am changing jobs. Cheers! Ram

Well, the 13th month is a compulsory bonus to the employees, as mandated by the Dept. of Labor. So, usually after the 13th month is given, the employees would still long for a bonus.

Just like you, I already budgeted my 13th month pay and there's still left for me - 100pesos. I calculated it very well but still 100pesos is just for me.

But at least you get to budget it for important things to buy belinda. So, you mean amongst the budget you haven't got something for yourself, except that 100 pesos?

I have included my expenses for my travel next next week. So, the real 'extra' money left would be 100pesos.

Good for you! You get 13 months pay every year.Over here, we usually give it to employees in the form of bonus at the end of the year.

Actually my friend, the 13th month pay is a mandatory bonus or cash gift to the employer. So in addition to the 13th month pay, the employees sometimes are given bonus.

Lucky for you as here in the US there is no law dictating such conduct which is a pity but glad you get the bonus. I don't even get a gift card this year, guess the company is struggling more than i thought but I am glad to have a job. What you spending your cash on?

A part will be giving a bigger shopping money to our daughter, whose birthday also falls on Christmas, so our gift must be double too. As for the rest, gifts and for useful things.
7 Dec 12
I think you may spend your money to buy some christmas gifts for your family members

It's good that 13th month pay is mandatory so you can count on it to be included in your budget. And if you get yet another Christmas or end-of-year bonus on top of that, then that would make it even sweeter. Happy Holidays!

Yes, it's mandatory as mandated by Dept. of Labor and Employment. Actually, the other half was already given to us last May. It is that because it will help those who are sending their children to school, pay the enrollment dues. The second half which is before Christmas is supposed to be for the Christmas preparations of the employees. So the bonus would indeed be an added money ! So,we hope we will be given bonus too.

That's good to know that you already have a budget on how to spend your 13th month pay my friend. However, you have to set aside first for a saving for future purposes. Well, this time doesn't need to spend much on Christmas (except when you have much to spend). What's important is you spend Christmas with your whole family. So, spend your money wisely.

Actually, our 13th month pay already arrived yesterday. I have set aside part of it for some unexpected Christmas spending. And that's true, we have to spend wisely because Christmas need not be expensive. It's the family that is important to spend it with.

For our company, we were already given our 13th month pay. We don't have bonus though. As for me, It's my mother who's doing the budget ever since I started working so I just gave all to her. Besides she's the one taking care of my daughter so I think there's nothing wrong with our set-up. I just hope that my budget will be enough for all the upcoming expenses for this Christmas.
