Could you imagine yourself wearing nothing on your feet? Uhm, I think, we will not feel comfortable without any footwear, especially, during sunny days. I have tried to walk barefoot last summer when we went to Bahamas Resort last summer. Whew...the floor was hot, and I wasn't able to resist on it, that's why I walked very fast to reach on my slippers. Well, I'll not gonna try that anymore, because it irritates my feet. Whenever I go to the mall, I prefer myself wearing slippers for I feel comfortable with them, although mom gets angry, when I am on my slippers when going to malls. She wants me to wear some kind of sandals or doll shoes. But, do you know that there are several kinds of slippers? Here are some: First, we have an ordinary beach walk slippers or flip flops, which I always use at home. You can also wear them during summer especially in outdoor activities such as swimming, beach volleyball, basketball, etc. They can also be used in a bathroom. Well, we have them in our bathroom. There are also bedroom slippers which is commonly used in bedrooms or when we have sleep overs with friends or pajama parties. They are made of soft cushioned cotton and they vary according to their colors or designs. I also have mine, a bunny designed bedroom slippers, but I rarely use them. There are also ballet slippers, used by ballet dancers. Here in the Philippines, especially those in poverty area, most of the people there wear slippers, but some of them cannot afford to buy their own one, so that's why a local television program Rated K has a segment which aims to provide poor childrens with slippers and they give Php 500 for someone who has the most broken slippers. In contrast to rich people, and those who can afford to buy slippers, they will buy a pair of Havaiannas, which is too much expensive. They will also buy a pair of Banana Peel, which is also an expensive one. I hava also mine, but I rarely use it becacuse I'm still using my current one which I bought in Galleria Mall. But, there are some people who make use of their sandals as slippers, and dont feel comfortable on real slippers. There are also some who prefer tto wear four inch stilletos, rather than ordinary slippers when going outside. I do not feel comfortable with taht kind of footwear. Most of the college students wear heeled shoes. Mom is using some heeled sandals and encourages me to wear those also. When I tried to wear those, I couldn't stand or walk and my feet got irritated. I have my school shoes. It has flat, but elevated heels, but not like those stilletos which is used by some smarty ladies. But, I don't encourage you to wear slippers at all times like in schools and work. Anyways, there are poor students who cannot afford to buy a pair of shoes so that's why they are on their slippers while attending classes, and there are employees who are wearing slippers, like working on a construction site, seashore, etc. I'm referring to those jobs in which employees aren't allowed to wear slippers like working on an office, malls, etc. Priests aren't allowed to wear slippers while having a mass. In formal sports competitions such as basketball, volleyball, etc., players must wear rubber shoes, unlike ordinary people who are not athletes, but play those games. In formal occasions, like wedding or formal gatherings/events, guests do not wear slippers. Instead, they use sandals or stilletos. Even entertainers also wear slippers during ordinary days, but wear stilletos or formal shoes on formal gatherings or events. So, dont be ashamed in using slippers, and you'll see, you'll gonna be comfortable with them.

Hi. This post was sure long..i wonder how much time did you take typing all this? ;) Anyways nice post you put there. I would like to say that during old times, people used to walk barefoot and yes it is followed even now in some of the places in my country - India. Mostly southern part..i personally feel walking barefoot means giving more respect to Mother Earth. :)

Yeah, it is also comfortable to walk barefoot, especially when the floor isn't hot. We ca enjoy walking, running and jumping. I also like doing this especially on clean and shiny floors. Whenever we go to another house to pay a visit, we usually leave our slippers/shoes outside the main door and get inside barefoot. :)

We follow that too. It is to prevent their house to get dirty by our slippers/shoes, etc..LOL.. no that's not the correct reason behind this. It is believed that walking barefoot also shows respect to others when we visit their homes and so we leave our slippers/shoes outside the doors while we enter. Where are you from?

We only wear slippers in the house. These are soft house shoes. We take our shoes off at the door and then change into slippers.

I have 5 pairs of slippers, but not the expensive ones as I don't really buy expensive pairs of slippers. Anyway, the ironic part is I seldom use them as my feet would perspire a lot making my slippers a bit slippery. When I say slippery, it slips off my feet a lot. Anyway, some of my friends would buy a pair of Havaianas as even if they are expensive, others would prefer to choose the cheaper ones - like I do. Thanks for posting, ruffabee!

your feet are perspiring? maybe because of the skin of your slippers, you know the thicker the skin your slippers are, the more your feet perspire. I suggest that you must wear some flip flops, for they are pretty comfortable on our feet. don't use some bedroom slippers, for their skin is so thick and it is uncomfortable on your feet. I have bedroom slippers, but I seldom use it. Well, There are slippers which are slippery. Flip flops are also slippery once you wear them on tiled and wet floor. :)

Hi ruppabee! Welcome to mylot Its very long discussion . I love to barefoot if I was in home because I know every thing was clean, because the floor moped regularly. Yeah nothing beat the comfy wearing flip flop (its how I call sandal) if you have to wear something in your feet. I am not a fans of shoes and I am glad working as freelancer at home and I don't have to dealing with high heel every day.

Thanks nangisha :) I also walk barefoot but I always feel comfortable wearing slippers. They are of general uses, as I said. Well, at home, we can also walk barefoot. I also do that. I also love shoes but I only wear doll shoes, sandals, and slippers :)
