I'm in the period of unknown right now. I would like to accept some offers but I am afraid that the coming Christmas season will sour any type of long term commitment in the future. I guess that some employers (if I do accept their offers) will take it badly if I asked a short Christmas leave. My family and I used to travel from our place to out place there. It will be some days where i won't get a decent internet connection to use(which is always a requiremnt0. . Also, family will be the top of the list and my parents are going to give me bad looks if I don't participate or I'm not within their sight.
Maybe I could could start again when the fireworks display at the New year's is over.

You are so fortunate to have a chance to refuse to any job offers, while the others are having a a hard time looking for a job so that they will have merry Christmas. Such a lucky one. Yes, if you can still refuse and enjoy the company of the family there is nothing wrong with that. Wheeeee... Yes, there is always a new year.

I know that I am lucky to have an offer but I think it is also a hard decision. Personally, I don’t want to give it up but this I I guess this is one instance when work doesn’t trump everything. I know I will be facing a rough start in the coming month and I don’t like it. But I guess I could sort myself out now and better prepared rather than be a forever mess when I accept the offer.

Yes that's an okay decision if you have the freewill to decide that way. you are so lucky.

maybe you could just accept the offer on the terms that you'll start work next year. i guess your employer would understand filipino family traditions.
well, unless they really need a new staff for this season.
your decision to put off job hunting till next year is a good one. though i bet you would have more competition by that time.
good luck.

I don't know if they look into the situation very kindly. Most of them might hire me after a test or two and insist on starting immediately. And I don't want to risk and create a bad impression. Clients are clients after all. I think i amused to the competition. I haven't heard of any job or position without one.

Personally, delaying until next year is probably the best way to go. Especially since it is harder to get a new job this time of yr and places want someone dependable and who they can count on. And since you have plans to want to spend some time with your family waiting until the next yr, could bring you a better opportunity job wise as well.

I actually think that you can discuss this during your offer discussion itself. I am recently changing jobs and my wife is expecting a child. So I told my future employer about it and he was ok with me taking a break in between jobs. I think it is just being transparent about it up front.
Cheers!

The offer already stated that the work will start immediately after hiring. I tihnk there is no negotiations for that that. that's the reaosn I opted to pass this time and try again next year. If it was an option, I would have taken it without nay single thought.

What type of employer will habor bad feeling regarding his employees aking for a short term Christmas leaves, For God sake, it is a holiday season and everyone is hoping to get some time off with the family and love one to celebrate this holiday, there is no need to have sour feeling and expect employee not to take leave during this last public holiday at the end of the year before the arrival of a new year. if your employer can't handle that, may be he is not worth working for anyway since you probably don't want to work for someone who is lack of understanding and empathy toward his workers.

Well, I have encountered of these employers which is the reason for my quasi-decision not to accept any offers at this time. I cannot paint an employer with a general brush but I think it is an assumption that is worth considering. I think you will agree with me that some employers are more work-oriented than employee-oriented. They don’t care about anything about anything as long as the work is done. He may be sympathetic in the course of our interview but he might have priorities to have and maybe, he’ll reject me that reason. I believe that I’m more motivated if this issue of commitment is solved before I start working.
