For women: would you go out wearing sleeveless clothing with body hair?

This is not to discriminate or to violate any physical attributes of a woman since we all have our own ideal of what is beauty and aesthetics and we all have different standpoints on every subject. But what if you spotted a woman that has body hair most especially on her armpits. Would you react negatively about it? Or do you feel gross out? Well, some celebrities such as Julia Roberts did make a statement when she premiered on a movie screening walking on the red carpet with her armpits unshaved. I find it brave for her to walk down the carpet without feeling ashamed about it. Well for some it may look peculiar but it is totally normal for we are all humans and we do have hairs growing in our body, and it just goes to show that even the most famous and influential people have imperfections.

It is as you rightly said our own perception of what is acceptable or not. Personally, I hate body hair and remove all surplus underarm and leg hair from my body. This could be a cultural thing too as none of my friends or females in my family had hair in these areas. I just don't lile it and it does gross me out. But - different strokes for different folks but I am surprised that Julia Roberts does not remove underarm hair. she was certainly very brave about this - to hold to her belief in spite of public opnion, Because I believe that most people in thenwestern world do remove body hair.

heaytheblogger lol Thanks but no thanks..I really do not want to see the pictures...I am grosssed out enough by the thought of it I don't know why it turns my stomach..lol it's silly to react that way...but all I can guess is I am used to clean shaven and find it much much more acceptable... This is a very interesting thread..I was not aware so many were ok with it..I think it's mostly just Americans who fret over the issue.

I don't have armpit hair ever since, so i always wear sleeveless shirts. Though, if i have, i think i would be ashamed to wear a sleeveless one, because i have never seen a woman with hairs in their armpit wearing a sleeveless shirt. But as to seeing a girl with armpit hair wearing sleeveless shirt, it's okay with me.

It's interesting to hear that you have no body hair most especially in the arm pit areas. but regardless, it is really up to the person whether she prefers shaving or leaving those hair long.

LOL.. I don't find it bad and I don't really mind. But, what I am concern about is it doesn't look, tidy for women and men showing armpits with hair. Imagine dripping lol. I am a fortunate one who has no unwanted hair in the armpits. whooo hooot lucky me

While it is anybody' prerogative have it either way, still, I do not feel comfortable going out in public having unwanted hair here and there. I think it looks unhygienic.

I have gone out in public with a sleeveless shirt on and yes I had armpit hair. Not really a big deal to me, however there are those who think it's gross. I do normally shave, but sometimes I just don't feel like it and forget about the hairy armpits when I put on a sleeve less blouse. Some country's think it's gross to shave.

Agree, we do have different concept of beauty and others may like it or not. however, i agree with you. it doesn't matter if you have armpit hair or not, as long as you are comfortable with your body then don't mind those people Thanks for sharing...

I do not judge others for what they do but I like to be shaved before leaving my house! I would just feel grossed out by my own body hair hanging out. I like being shaved, I just feel more comfortable... But I have seen women that don't shave and its up to them with what they are comfortable with. =)

Hi! I don't like to have a lot of bodyhair on me so I always make sure that I have removed them. I shave my armpits regarless if I am wearing sleeveless tops or not, it's just part of my showering routine! But I wouldn't judge others if they want to go out without shaving as long as they are clean. What I don't like is when people neglect their body hygiene however I don't really care if they don't shave their armpits. From my point of view it's not an imperfection, it's just a choice that some people may find weird.

Firstly I am a boy,so may be I should not join this discussion... In my opinion, when a girl decide to wear a sleeveless clothing with body hair especially on armpits it will looks ugly.So I think for girls if you really want to wear a sleeveless clothing pls shave you armpit body hair first,I think it not only is for beauty but also is a manner for others.

Body hair on women has never bothered me - It is a personal choice of the woman. I do not think I woman with a little hair under her arms is bad... However, Fake tan the colour of stained wood is not pretty

i would not wear sleeveless showing my underarms with hair.. for me its not all about being beautiful but its a matter of hygiene.. i understand that sometimes we do not have always the time to shave but if we cant do it then might as well not wear a sleeveless.. that is my opinion about that.. of course we have all different perspective about this.. just respect for others who thinks counter clockwise..

I don't know if I am lucky to have few strands of hairs under arms (not sure- because we have different types right, some men likes hairy girls and some dont) I don't mind women having unshaved armpits- as long as there's no odor..

It is independent choice of people.
