I tend tyo rely on what my body needs. I am also a night person, but once in a while I will need long naps and they are the kind of sound sleep that people usually have at night. Then I do not take half hour naps, but 4 or 5 hours. My body is saying that it is that what I need.

I don`t think it does. The problem arises when you have to be at work at a certain hour. Then you have to learn to go to sleep at the time the rest of the people do.

I read some articles long time ago. It say how much time we sleep affects our age in the future. I see it say when we sleep in 4 hours we can live more than 82 years and above. When we sleep more than 8 hours we can live more than 80 years old. I try find where i read this but i think i read it in newspaper.

Seems that it has an advantage though. Hope you can find the source of the information. I am now motivated to sleep late at night! Thanks!

Sleeping atleast 8 hours a day is what we need. And although we may have different sleeping patterns as that of those working on a graveyard shift at the call centers, I think that the best sleep that our body can have is during the night time. I have come across this. Hope this helps: http://www.apa.org/monitor/2011/01/night-work.aspx

I don't think it matters when you sleep, as long as you get a decent nights sleep. I know the recommended amount of sleep is eight hours, but some people can get by with less. I know your health suffers when you don't get the recommended amount of sleep. People who sleep less do get sick more often than those who get closer to the recommended amount of sleep. I love to sleep, but I love to be awake too

I worked nights for 13 years and I hardly ever get sick. I started work at 9:30pm and went home at 6am. I'm a night person anyway so I liked being awake all night. But I can't remember the last time I was sick. I think I had the flu about 5-6 years ago. I don't think it matters so much when you sleep as how much sleep you get. 6-8 hours of sleep should be good. If you don't get enough sleep you can get run down and susceptible to illness. On the other hand, too much sleep is also not good the sleep experts say. Here's a link that might help you figure it out www.sleepfoundation.org/article/how-sleep-works/how-much-sleep-do-we-really-need

Oh really you've been to night work for 13 years? Wow! Thanks anyway for sharing your thought. Took a nap lately for about 1.3 hours and I think I'm fine now.

Some say it affects your health on long term... but I find it difficult to believe. People create anxieties from all sort of things. I also heard that the most restful hours are 9-12 pm or something like this. This can have some truth in it. And the consequence that you will feel better with less sleep if you do it in the right hours. It's 3 am in my country and I am really not in the mood for sleeping. :)
