I haven't really traveled in some time, due to car problems, gas prices and other things. 2013 I think I would like to do some traveling. Where do you think I should go? If you have been there already, what was your experience? What did you like the best?
Best wishes! :-)

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation very well and it is too difficult when u are travel freak but u are not able to travel due to some issues which are unavoidable in your case.
Well i think the time has finally come for u and i think u should do some savings so that u can spend it appropriately for your traveling desires. I had moved to so many places this year and one of them was a trip to Paris and Switzerland.
What say?

Thank you for responding. Both sound very nice. I think I would go to Paris first, then Switzerland. In my work this year, I have written about Paris and it sounds like a great place to start. The bike rentals, all the museums, the cafes where famous writers and artists have gathered for many years, palaces, gardens and Eiffel Tower, all intrigue me. I think I would always run out of space on my memory card with all the pictures! And I would never sleep for all my journaling every night and touring, drawing and painting in the daylight. Oh, and the music! Can't get enough of that. It would probably take me five years just to feel like I've seen enough of Paris to move on to Switzerland. I would have to make myself keep it to just a week or month.
What say you?
Best wishes! :-)

Well that sounds so good and it reflects your love for Paris huh!
To be very honest, while Switzerland is very peaceful and serene, Paris is a happening city and u can explore good music and good food. Both have their charm individually and do not worry u will soon visit these places. Not only these places, but many places in the future. Have patience and i know u will move places.

why not start where you are now? maybe there are places you have not been into. Just nearby places that would not cost you so much for transport fares and all. Or what about nature tripping, like hiking or caving. I hope you will find the best place to go near you.

Thanks for your wonderful response, Mavic. That is a great suggestion, indeed. I have been trying to get in to see the local art gallery for the past month, but whenever I'm in town and done with errands, they're shut for the weekend or holidays. So I'm thinking next time I go to a larger city I'll try galleries and museums I have not yet been to, maybe research beforehand to check on upcoming show openings and discounts. Opening nights usually offer complimentary refreshments, discounts and bonuses, especially during holiday seasons. And right now in the States, particularly in the South, is a great time to visit Christmas light displays put on by homeowners, neighborhoods and towns. It's a beautiful time to travel, now that the rain is past and it's clear and crisp. Best wishes! :-)

Every single year I travel to a new destination. Last year I traveled to the Caribbean coastline of Colombia. It was wonderful to see the old city, its pretty buildings and its tropical beaches. I remember a happy day out looking at tropical islands and then a fun afternoon on a palm fringed beach. Then we had such an exciting adventure traveling back to the city. I traveled with my disabled son and my daughter.
Earlier this year we traveled to Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. We had a lovely time in the big cities and a great time visiting a dear friend. We visited a famous waterfall and adored our time there. Any destination that is safe will be fine for traveling to in 2013.

South America sounds very exciting! I'm thrilled that your disabled child enjoyed it so easily, along with the rest, and that you have savored the diversity of environments there. I've learned a little about South America between school, TV programs, research for travel articles and news stories. So much there to experience. Best wishes! :-)

I'd like to travel the States and the world, as well, silver. I haven't even been to New York, California, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada or Mexico, yet. And I'd still like to revisit some places I haven't seen in awhile, like Dallas, Austin, Chicago, Denver, Chattanooga, Salt Lake City, Santa Fe, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Hot Springs, Atlanta, Biloxi, Birmingham, St. Louis, Memphis, Washington, DC and Sarasota, FL. Plus, there's a lot of places I've driven through but never stopped to enjoy, and many domestic and international places I've written about or read about and never been yet.
Sorry to hear you're leaving your little island. Best wishes! :-)

Oh wow! The Great Wall would be wonderful to visit, and I read that China is investing a lot in enlarging a commercial/recreational port and improving traffic nearby, including Great Wall access. Thanks for responding. Best wishes! :-)

congrats you first of all for your great decision. Finally you have released from all anxiety and planning to visit some places. Placement choice is actually depends on your holiday time frame and budget. I would suggest, please visit any country in European region if you didn't visit yet.

Thanks for your generous response, farid! Europe is definitely calling to me. London, Paris, Munich, Rome, Athens, Madrid, plus all the hidden nooks loaded with history and beauty. It may take me awhile to get to everywhere I wish to go and document my experiences. Best wishes! :-)
