I have this drunk and unemployed neighbor who still lives with his brother's house even if he's almost 40. He's single and he's rude that every time he's sitting in front of their house drinking alcohol and I happen to pass, he has this habit of whistling and it offends and annoys me. I told him to stop doing that but still he does it. Until yesterday, I saw him giving away 500 pesos to the kids and there is a celebration because he won the lottery! 13 million pesos. Can you believe it? I wanted to be happy for him but I just can't since he looks more arrogant now that he has money. It's just not fair. What do you think?

Oh congrats to him and I do hope that he will use it well and wisely. I do hope that it could help him to realize to value life, become a better person and be good to others. But there will be chance that this fortune will make him more arrogant as you have said since he already money to do so.

I bought bread on a nearby bakery for breakfast and when I passed their house, there he was, sitting comfortably and whisted again. Haist, what a morning to start it with. Then he said to me, have I given you a tip? I said congrats and no thank you. I'm fine. He laughed so loud and he told me that I was arrogant.

Hello greenthumb018,
It sure is great to be a 13 million pesos man. I guess this is just how Lady Luck works. We never know how, when, where and whom she will favor.
Maybe he had done a good deed in his past life that made him deserve this good fortune in this life in spite of his bad attitude and that is according to the law of Karma. Look at the bright side. He is giving money to children and that is probably a sign that he might just turn into a new leaf. Have a nice day!

Yeas, I will be observing if he's going to be a changed man. I am more hoping that he buys his own home far from here so that the whistling would stop. But maybe he really did something from the past that is why he was blessed greatly.

I think he just did those annoying things to you because he was drunk. Who knows that he have a very good heart. And who knows that you were meant for each other :)... He was so lucky to win that big amount. I think he should find a woman now because he has a lot of money.

He is so lucky.
Let's hope he knows what to do with his fortune.
I have read two winners who ended up indebted after winning millions...all because they spend the money for gambling and fun.
So bad...well, hope your neighbor's fate would be different.

Yes, I am also hoping that he uses the money wisely. Winning that amount comes once in a lifetime and I'm sure that if he wasted the money, he'll go burden his brother again because he does not have any close relative but his brother.

It was great... Being able to won in a lottery. You just need to be happy for him. For sure he will buy a big house near or far to you, I think you will never hear his whistling anymore because for sure the whistle cannot be heared outside his big house anymore.

Hi friend, sad to know about your neighbor, really it is hard to live with this kind of persons neighborhood. As you mentioned he won a lottery, i think he is a lucky person. Here after he will continue his unwanted habit without fear. As he have more money now. I wonder why God don't offer this prize to a poor one instead of this durk person?

I think "God " has nothing to do in lotteries and gambling. On the other hand evil powers are playing behind these items. There isn't any production/construction for "God" to act. These items make people lazy.

Kanari, it can only make a person lazy, if he wins the lottery. Not before that!

Everything is fair in this world we live in. Honest and simple people are taken advantage of, paid less, while the crafty businessmen make real money. You try to raise a voice against wrong and you'll be silenced by criminals and rich men. Even the judiciary system is hopeless as it takes a lot of time to take action. Men like Dawood Ibrahim live lavishly and freely by extorting, threatening, blasting bombs and killing innocent people. While men like Piotr Stanczak are beheaded mercilessly without a reason. This is what the humans have made out of this world. So nothing is unfair. Your neighbour is lucky, we won a lottery, nothing unfair about it. At least I'm glad that he will not be a dependant on his brother now and his brother can save more money for himself as he will have one mouth to feed less. Good day!

See that! He's a good person. You must befriend him. A man, however a bad he is, still have a portion in his heart to love, care, and most of all he have a chance to change for the good. And maybe its you can change him. Give it a try! :)

I don't think I can do that. And besides he'll be surprised that I'm talking to him all of a sudden. On second thought, maybe I should try because I have this charitable institution that I'm so actively participating and persuade him to donate something for the kids. (evil me..)

That's what I thought also. At least his brother will not be burdened by him. And I heard that he's going to buy him a taxi for an extra living. I guess he can be a better man after all.

He's a lucky duck for being one of the ones to win the lottery. Maybe this will change him around because he's already giving money to children. But heck I wouldn't want to live with family if I was 40 yrs old I would definitely want to be out on my own. Maybe because of his drinking that's why he can't find a steady girl to be with him. Hopefully he will change and have a better attitude in life. With his money I would buy my own house.

It is very illogical to think who can win a lottery or not and that is the magic of life. We need not envy him for his fortune today. Rather, let us hope that he may grow into a nice citizen when he mingle with other people which he might have avoided until now. Who knows, he can become a respectable man soon by the society!

Well, I've always believed that we should give other people their chances to shine, so to speak. Even though he may be arrogant now, there is still that chance that this could turn his life (and his maturity) around. Of course, it could definitely go the other way, but wishing bad luck isn't something that I could advise anyone. Anyway, maybe we'll get our turn someday soon, for now, it's his time to shine, even just a little.

Give it time and see what will happen, he may suddenly change in to a charitable person or drink himself into oblivion with all that money, it is hard to estimate what money can do to a person ,they may turn good or change into a more obnoxious person, personally, if i had or suddenly won so much money, i would try to at least do some charitable things that gives me some sense of gratification,,not because i am a philanthropist by heart just that one can get sense of joy making other people have fun. but of course spend a lot of it on myself.

The lottery is not meant to be fair or correct but it is pure luck. Good things tend to happen to bad people but that doesn't mean every bad person has it good so just ignore this guy and continue with your life and perhaps good fortune will favor you soon.

Sishy, here's a quick conversion calculation for you (as of now):-
1 Philippine peso = 0.0244 US dollars

He's just one lucky man. It has nothing to do with his bad personality. It’s just amazing that even with such rudeness and being dependent on his brother he still shares his blessings to other people. I guess the winning is really meant for him to give him a chance to live his life better. It is up to him if he will use it wisely or just waste it.

He is lucky, at least for now he is lucky. But it will not last long. It seems like he is a lazy and a pleasure-loving, money he got would soon run out. If he has brain that he could use the money he won to open a business, but he seemed not the type of hard worker who can build a business. Do not be jealous, it's just luck of the moment when he can not spend the money he has now wisely

Well there is no law that says all wins should go to nice folks only. it would be nice but see it's gotta be a fair playing field across the board. To me, I believe that God gave this man the money to that he can do right for himself. If he's passing out money like water, he might not have learned his lesson yet but if he's got some sense, he would give a nice amount to the brother whose house he's staying in. then find a place to live and have enough to live comfortable on and go from there. From what your saying that is not how it's playing out but let's hope he get it soon.

First of all, congratulation to your drunken neighbor who won 13 million in lottery. He is just lucky to win. He is showing that he earns in a lottery. Joining a lottery is gambling for me. What if he earns online earnings instead of gambling?

This is my first time that I really heard about real winner of lottery here in our country. Usually, winners of lottery were unannounced, names were not given. I thought that lottery is on a gimmick and that the truth is no one wins. I have seen on TV and heard on News that sometimes the grand prize could reach up to 500 thousand pesos. That's a lot of money to spend for your lifetime.

Yes, this was my first time to know somebody who really won the lottery. I have office mates who won the lottery but only in thousands. I never thought that they are really giving away the jackpot prize until the other day.

Does that really happen in our country? Well, he's one lucky person. He better use that money for good purpose, start a business so he won't have to depend on his brother and he can be independent and live a better life. This is his chance to change and improve his way of life. He's just plain lucky.

Yes, it's really happening in our country. When I first heard the news, I was open mouthed and can't believe it until I saw the kids lining up in front of their house because of the 500 peso balato or tip. Anyway, at least he made the kids in the neighborhood happy and the parents are also happy because the some of hte kids gave their money to their parents.

I really think it's not fair because he's just going to spend the money on useless things. Well, that's life! Having a lot of money does not automatically give you a better life, right? Maybe he has an advantage because he has money, but who knows, having more money has a lot of disadvantages too.

that is fate and the bad fortune i would say because people like drunkards dont know ideally how to utilise modrinks all the time and they know nothing except spending for drinks and dont know how to utilise it in a wise and careful way

Oh wow. The sun really shines on the good and the bad huh. You can't really help it if something is for you then it is yours in God's grace. I sure hope he uses it in the right way. Maybe its a way on to which he can improve mp himself and stop being unemployed and move away from his parent's house.
I thought the lottery was corrupt and only government officials win the lottery.
