Starting again

Well, I stopped running a couple months ago because of a broken toe but I'm pretty sure it is back to normal. So of course since I'm a cross country runner I know how to start again. It's just the motivation that kills it all. I mean you have to push your self to get up and get that out-of-shape butt going.

I agree with you! I started running last June as a preparation for 5km fun run. You'd think it's easy but I've been having a couch potato lifestyle for quite a long time and joining marathons motivates me to run. Unfortunately, after the marathon a series of rain and typhoon hit the Philippines, which made me stop running. :( But now, I guess I could spare 30 minutes of my time for that even indoor since I have a pedometer. It feels good to run, stay in shape, and but the ugly fats! :)

Just wanted to mention there's a BIG difference between a 5K fun run and a marathon - a 5K is 3.1 miles and a marathon is 26.2 miles. What did you run, 3.1 miles or 26.2 miles? LOL!

I know the difference between a 5K race/fun run and a marathon, which is 42K. I just mentioned that I joined a marathon because that's the name of the event but I ran in 5K fun run category, I should have stated "running events" instead, LOL.

This is hard for me as well. I tend to overdo it and just create more injury because my mileage isn't what it should be. I listen to music and just keep thinking positively and that helps me get my mileage back up. Be smart about it.

Ha ha - several years ago I broke my toe too... big toe on my right foot and I wasn't able to run for awhile either. I had a boot on my foot because I had to get around, wasn't supposed to drive but I did anyway, and it was horrible watching people running and I couldn't. If you can sign up for a local race, that might give you some motivation to train I run something roughly once a month, I don't have anything specific planned for January but I'm doing my 12athon, so I think I'll do a virtual half so I can get a medal the day I run it. Running with other people can also help keep you accountable!
