The economy here in MA is still bad or worse. Today I went to the grocery store where I always shop and coffee I paid $2.98 for last week is now $4.99! It went up that much in one week! There are no jobs around because I've been looking for months. My family decided to get Christmas gifts for just the kids this year because we can't afford to buy something for everyone.

That is just wrong as the price of coffee hasn't jumped nearly that much in the last 2 weeks. I wonder what could have caused it, perhaps the manufacturer messed up?

Hello Tushavi! I really don't know if anything has changed where I am but it wouldn't surprise me if it was bad. Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

The economy is still bad and it will remain so as long as too many want to live off of others.

I am starting to see some signs that the economy might finally be starting to recover, but I won't say that it is better now than it was in 2010. You see, yes, we were in a recession in 2010, but that wasn't when everything really bottomed out. I tend to believe that happened late in 2011 or early in 2012 so while things might be a little bit better now than they were at the deepest part of the recession, I don't think that things have recovered to the point that they were at in 2010.

The economy is improving, although it isn't exactly doing great these days. I feel it's on it's way up, and give it another two years, and we'll be back to normal again. Since you asked how I would explain how the bad economy is affecting us, personally, I see a huge decrease in work available. I do freelance work, and in 2008 I could get work everyday, because people had money to put into projects. These days I get work once a week if I'm lucky. In 2008, I had a great income from doing my work, now these days I struggle to pay the bills. With that being said, things aren't as bad as people make them out to be. We are still doing pretty good, in my opinion.

Whether economy is bad or good,if you want to share you can buy gifts accordingly.Economy may suffer setback, but the idea of sharing should never get a setback.Love and sharing without grudge makes the world to go on.There are times when money is scarce, but love and care aren't,when we use this in abundance, economy will be blessed and show improvement. If we blame the economy to be selfish and stingy,it will never bloom and it will go from bad to worse.

The economy is worse here in the US than they are telling the public. Our unemployment rate is under 8% officially but it's actually around 20%. They don't count those who have dropped out of the workforce or those with part time jobs instead of full time. Many companies have quit hiring full time employees so they won't have to pay for health insurance so lots of people have 2-3 part time jobs to make ends meet. Those people are also not counted in the statistics. If you count the people who are no longer looking for work and those underemployed, the unemployment rate is at or above 20%. Yet our government keeps telling us things are getting better. Food prices are increasing. I saw one item jump two times in two weeks, from $1.69 to $1.79 to $1.99! I no longer buy that item although I would occasionally as a treat. If they keep telling us that it is getting better they can talk us into ridiculous schemes like spending more money and higher taxes. They tell us it's getting better and if we have our congressmen fight against these measures it will get worse. Since most people can't afford for it to get worse and want to hope it's getting better, they stay silent and let it happen. When you can keep the people poor and desperate they are easier to control with empty promises.

The economy is still pretty bad, just look at Europe for example and how the locals in places such as Greece are refusing to stop spending money they don't have and have a massive amount of debt, look at the US with its huge trade deficit. Things are still bad and will remain this way for a while but we can hope it slowly regains its forward movement.

I think that the Economy here in our country has never changed. Still a lot of people are having a hard time in making both ends meet. Not too much jobs are offered and the prices of commodities still keep on increasing.

The economy in Michigan is bad, as it is everywhere I'm sure. It seems things keep getting worse with the price of gas (though it has gone down a bit in the last couple of weeks, but for how long?) Food is priced high (next year we are growing our own) and businesses are still closing or not hiring. We have seven empty buildings downtown, and that's a lot, because this is a small community with a population of around 6,000. Many workers have to create their own work or have been forced into part time work. Yeah, the economy is still bad.
