Little Bit, one of the mini dachshunds, is very laid back and proper. He's about 19 years old now and he sleeps, eats, grouses, and poops. He goes out in the mornings to get a bit of exercise which amounts to walking about 8 feet down the driveway and barking at the world and letting them know he is still around. He doesn't get much
"Lot" attention because he is so laid back. Today he gets his chance to shine on the "Lot".
The tail starts about three months ago when I was talking to one of my neighbors. They were winterizing their cabin because it would be quite awhile before they came back up. The one problem they had was what to do with their golf cart as their son had bought a jet ski and the jet ski takes up the room that the golf cart would use. I have a carport and offered to allow them to park the cart in my carport. It works out great because I don't have to clean leaves from the area where the golf cart sits. Of course the cart is covered with a tarp and the tarp is weighted down on the floor of the carport with two by fours and cement blocks. Ralphie, the black cat that lives in my carport, promptly moved into the cart and has his own private bedroom. I put blankets in the cart so Ralphie would have a warm comfortable place to sleep.
A couple of days ago Little Bit was barking and snuffling. The barking didn't quit so I went out to investigate. I checked the whole yard and couldn't find the little fiend. Of course when I went outside he shut up...which didn't help. Finally, after I went around the yard again searching for the dog, he decided to bark. It was muffled and finally I located Little Bit's location...under the golf cart behind the tarp. He had found his way in but couldn't figure out how to get out. So, I got down on my hands and knees and lifted the tarp so he could get out. Of course as contrary as he is, he wanted to get out the other side. I went around to the other side to let him out and he went to another area. After marching around the cart for 6 minutes I finally got him out from under the cart. I set him on the ground and he marched off like it was all MY fault that he got trapped.
You would think that he would learn from the event...nope, this morning when I let them out he promptly got himself trapped under the tarp. Can anyone spell DE JA Vo?

Your dog has a case of "catitude"--my cat Pixel does that sort of thing all the time . The pantry down in Tucson has a folding door--and Pixel has figured out how to open it, go in and close it behind him. But when it closes all the way, he either can't (or more likely won't) push against the hinge to get it to pop again--he just sits in there and yowls until someone lets him out. Does it whenever he feels like he isn't getting his fair share of attention. Maybe your Little Bit is thinking more like a cat these days

About time I get to hear a "dog" tale! (Not that I am sick of Khuay's tales...) That is funny, I wonder why he went in there again? Maybe he likes the attention he gets when he gets stuck...

My cat Harmony will often want to be let in the front door just so she can go out the kitchen door. Never mind that she could go around the house. Nope. Has to be the doors.

Well, of course it was your fault that he got trapped. You were supposed to make things more dog-friendly for him.
Dogs and cats can keep us entertained. My three cats do manage to keep things quite... um... lively around here--even with sleeping 18+ hours per day. I sometimes think that they take turns.
Years ago, when I had a housemate with a number of cats, I would sometimes walk into the room and get the distinct impression that they had just been having a super secret cat meeting. The queen cat would be there with her minions gathered around, and there was an air of secrecy about them. I can just imagine that she was delegating tasks to her underlings--watch this human, eat that plant, knock that lamp over...

lol Sounds like you have your hands full with your little dog. I am sure you enjoy your dog. My suggestion is to take a treat with you, perhaps he will head out your way from under the tarp if you offer him a treat. Although he may make a game of it. Enjoy your dog.
