New Orleans Hornets changing their name to - Pelicans?

There is a name that will strike fear into the hearts of all the other fish in the NBA. Thankfully I'm not a fan of this team. I know it's the state bird. I just don't think it's a great name for a sports team. Let's hear it from the rest of you MyLotters. Do you like this teams new name?

It sounds too wimpy. I doubt the other team will tremble in terror and will think they do not have to try too hard to win. On the other hand, they may get a bit too careless and lose .

The name just doesn't do anything for me. I can hear the announcer doing introductions now: Ladies and gentleman here comes you New Orleans Pelicans. They aren't as clumsy as they look.

Right, the chosen name is not strong enough to bring fear into enemies. If you want to market your team, getting this name will be a bad idea I think. But, basketball is not about team names but how well they play that game.

I thought it was a pretty funny name to change your team to as well. It's also kind of weird that if the Hornets do end up changing their names to the Pelicans than the Charlotte Bobcats would become the Charlotte Hornets again. I wouldn't say that I dislike the name New Orleans Pelicans and it is also the state bird or the city of New Orleans' bird or something like that.

I know it is the state bird but it doesn't have any pizzazz for a sports team name. It just doesn't do anything for me.

I can see changing the name but I think this name change is a pretty clear downgrade.

I'm not a fan of this team either and quite glad as well. But to answer your question, no I really despise the whole idea of the name "New Orleans Pelicans" It's very lame. I guess that's all I can really say is that it's lame, I can't think of another word for it haha.
