I am currently not doing anything except writing on mylot while this friend of mine snores so loud that I can't even think of a good topic to discuss, so then, it pop up into my mind to discuss about snorring.
I got an info that snore is a symptom that a person have a heart problem.
Why do people snore and is it really a symptom?

I have a friend who snores while sleeping and for the same reason I asked him to sleep in the separate room. He says that the snoring is related to the extra fat which blocks the way of the air through our neck. I think if this was the reason then it would also block the way in the day time also. He do have high blood pressure sometimes and I think that is also related to heart.
So I conclude that I don't have any official data to prove it but it might be so as you said.
Thank you.

I just read the reply next to me which says that it is due to body weight. So that adds one more vote to my answer.
I think there will be more people here who will agree with me. I have seen that the people who are overweight snores more often than the others like me. I am quite a slim person and I don't snore at night. So people who are slim here please contribute to the discussion.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Sanjay! Maybe there are still some reasons why people snores.

I think check up is the best solution to my query. So it really means that a person who snores is showing a symptom of body organ problem?

There has been studies linking snoring to a heart disease. This may be so due to decrease of having a restful sleep at night. You can check this link to know more about it : http://www.clutchmagonline.com/2010/12/is-snoring-linked-to-heart-disease/

Oh, I see then. Maybe it is really a sign that a person has a heart problem. Thanks for your share of the link.

Hi,
I know sometimes my little daughter(8 years old)snores when she falls asleep, but I'm sure her heart is well. My husband has heart disease, and he seldom snores at night.
So I think maybe he has respiratory tract.

Oh I see, so does that mean that snorring is not a sign that a person has a heart disease?

some say that snoring is something to do with a heart condition.. what is best is to have it check by a doctor so it will have a right prognosis about it.. its better to be safe than sorry.. in our family snoring is not common thing so it does not bother me.. sleep talking is likely a common thing between us but it does not always occur..

It is a better suggestion. I just asked about it for I observed that my friend snores too loud and it seems that he is not showing any heart sickness.

Common snoring isn't just a nuisance, it's a stronger early warning sign of the risk of heart disease than excess weight, smoking, high cholesterol or high blood pressure

i dont think its a heart problem, i think its also about body weight because most people after gaining weight tend to snore alot and in other cases i think sleeping position matters.i find in the case of children when you hear them snoring and adjust them to lie properly it stops.the other issue may be with people with tonsils and adenoids in the nose that tend to affect smooth breathing when they are asleep.
