Facebook is Atrocious

I had been on facebook for about 3 years practically with no gains of any kind. Friends came and went without making any imprint on my mind. In social networking, only advantage is to find friends around the globe you never knew or even expected. But facebook prohibits this by not allowing to send friend's request to unknown persons, making it useless for making new friends.
Sending a friend's request doesn't ensure the friendship. The invitee has the choice of accepting or denying the proposed friendship. Therefore, it is not inappropriate in any way. But facebook has a closed mind on this.
Yesterday, I decided to stop using facebook for ever after they deactivated my account for 14 days for my sending a friend's request to an unknown person I found interesting. This may be the beginning of an end for facebook.
What do you think about facebook's atrocity on making friends.

I disagree with you I really like Facebook.Your right about it not being a very good website to make friends on but thats not really the purpose of the site. What Facebook is really good at is allowing you to keep in touch with friends that you already have.It is also a good way find friends that you have lost touch with.To be honest I go on Facebook almost everyday to see what my friends are up to though its getting a bit less as my social networking site of choice is starting to become twitter.

We are online not only for keeping in touch with old friends but for making new friends. Even facebook prompts you to make new friends on the sidebar.

Facebook is just a useless site. I have deleted my FB a/c few days back. How much u do facebook there is no kinds of gain from that site. if u send too many friend request then , it will block ur a/c for a month, which is just horrible. although nowadays it is the only popular social networking site but if it continues like this, then it will loose its popularity and will end one day.

Now, facebook admin has modified their blockage on me from the account deactivation to friend request deactivation for 14 days.
Any way, I would be deleting my fb account tomorrow.

Well, notion and understanding about the facebook depends upon the experience of the person and explorations that one does on the facebook. I can understand your problem and what lead to your deactivation of your account. But it must be recongnised that facebook is very vast and is useful in many other ways too. For example you can find/create a group of your interest and become its member contributing to the group. (e.g. any science group, literature group.. etc) . Through this way you can come across other group members which share the common interest and hence are suited to become your facebook and online friend. You can even create interest lists subscribing to certain pages by which you can relax and increase your knowledge from the feeds of the pages in that interest list. If one is interested in games , even he can discover the games too. Or, one must create a page of the category in which you have talent and start posting it . If successful , you come across a very good number of people through their interaction with your page.
As far as for me it is concerned, I am pretty sure that I will be never deactavating my account as it has helped in me gaining much knowledge through some useful pages and has connected me to my distant old classmates.
Happy mylotting.
