I think it all depends on the person. I agree we are spending our major part of time with internet and mobile phones. But it does not mean that we can’t live without those things. For me, it is not at all an issue if I can’t access internet and mobile. I may miss those activities but I have so many other things to do in that time. I am a mother of two and that may be the reason I won’t care much on the technologies.

Just imagine this. Let's go back to 100 years ago, year 1912. How would you live? Of course, there was no cell (mobile) phones and internet. Many Asian countries are being colonized as well as African countries. US and parts of Europe are experiencing ongoing Industrial Revolution. Instead of cell phones, landline or wired based phones were considered luxury or a part of technology at the time. Instead of internet, one would probably need to go to library to do research. I would assume many people write letters a lot at this time. Even today, libraries won't go away, and people write less letters.
Based on your age (16), you are at a high school age. I would know that you like to socialize with friends. You probably have some boyfriends/girlfriends that you have a crush on (don't know your gender). You might be crazy into video games and other interesting stuffs online.
Like anything else, cell (mobile) phones can be distracting. The taking of your cellphone should be a message that you should focus on school work or classroom sessions. If you're in a high school, you don't need to bring a mobile phone, or at least turn it off entirely.
I personally can do without a cell (mobile) phone since I don't make that many phone calls. I would if I start relying on it for work. Nowadays, you can do possibly many things on it, but I still prefer to use a regular computer screen to research, play games, etc. I know that internet has become part of my life and I would not go back.

I think different persons different thoughts. I fee we cant live without mobile because we want to aware about our family members and to know where is our family members if they are on tour. But in small age carry mobile is not necessary. I think both are useful in our life so we cant live without you.

In this modern days most of us are addicted with our cell phones and internet. It seems to be hard to live without this technology items, since most of us spending a lot of time with this devices. Previously few decades before our ancestors don't have cell phones and internet connection, but they lived a happy and peaceful life. But now, for us it is really hard to live a life without them.
Some times we may lose our cell phone or internet connection due to some reasons, at this situation we feel bored and empty, try our maximum to come out from the emptiness. We have the ability to live without this technology items, but most of us are not interested in living without them and wish to spend most of our time with them. In fact it is the great weakness for lot of persons.
Few days before one of my friend lost his smart phone and placed a complaint to find it out. He seems to be mad without his cell phone, he don't have the ability to concentrate in his works and do it wrongly, also he shouted a lot with his family members and created unwanted quarrels. He got his smart phone two days later, after getting his phone he seems to be normal.
During his cell phone missing days he seems to be a hysteria patient and shouted a lot with other persons as well as all his activities are quite different than before. He did all the things wrong intentionally as he seems to be a mad without his cell phone, it clearly shows his great addiction.
We must avoid this kind of addictions. Nothing is permanent to us including our life, so don't get addicted with any thing, it is not good for you. Try your maximum to live without this modern things and avoid getting addiction with them to solve a lot of problems in your life.

I think that we, as a society, are addicted and married to our mobile devices, and it is really hard for us to separate ourselves from our devices. I recently got a new smart-phone, and I will admit that I am finding myself newly addicted to it. Almost as if I cannot live without it. I know that I shouldn't be hooked to my smart-phone, but I just love it so much.

I always use Skype using my mobile to chat with my husband. Add myLotting, too. I guess if I don't have my mobile and there's no free internet connection, I am going to spend money again for my cellphone airtime load to send text nessages and calls. For me, my phone is important when I'm away from my husband; however if I'm home already, it's alright with me not to even peep on my phone. I sometimes miss replying to my mom, sister, friend, etc. text messages. LOL.

Yes, I agree with you. My phone can't use video chat though. It says I need to buy Skype credit if I want to receive and make calls. LOL. I just send and receive IMs. That's fine with me. Thanks for the comment. :)

Well as for me without the mobile and internet I will have less entertainment, but that does not means I can not live without them.
I think the most irritating stuff will happen in our dailylife is without the water or electricity.I will feel very angry about that.

Hi, there! I think it's not that we can't live without those gadgets, it's just that we're used to have them. In my opinion, we can live without mobiles and internet, but the problem is we will be left behind in our society. As we know, we are globally changing. If you don't wanna be addicted to you gadgets, i think you to live a simple life and commit yourself not to use them ever again. This is just my thought...^_^
Have a nice day! ^^

i think phones and internet is part of our necessities for today. we can't live a day without having to touch our phone and to update our accounts on the internet. for the past years phones are just for texting and calling until now it became a craze that anyone should have.

I think . . . nowadays everyone have a mobile phones , even more than one piece , and we like to addicted to the internet , why? Because we live in 21 century, everything we can get from tht internet, we can get any informations all over the world and comunication with everyone where ever you are, I think it is very simple, and we can use mobiles more simple than we write a letter, so I think this is a progress of time that we used to follow,,,

For me it is a necessity because I am legally blind. I use my phone to communicate, as a gos, to stay organized, and to find my way if I get lost.

I would say I am more addicted, to my computer than my cell phone, I cam leave my cell phone home, and it wouldn't even bother me at all,but when I am home I spend hours and hours on my computer, if my phone rings, I will look at it and keep on typing on my computer, my phone is not a big deal, to me that much.

nowadays the use of mobiles and internet has become such an important part of our day to day life that most of us cannot even live without these gadgets even for a single day.these inventions have made our life a lot easier than our ancestors as now we can contact any person anywhere in the world and even have an access to an infinite amount of knowledge via the internet. But alongwith these advantages there are several disadvantages that come along with the use of such new technology.

We can live without them, but since they have become a big part of our lives we will feel that there is something missing without them. I think mobile devices and the internet have changed the world to the point that they have become needs. My computer teacher even said that in the information age information is already almost a basic need.
