That's normal time I guess. From what i've read, human need 8 hours sleep to refresh energy. I'm personaly not qualified so I'm try to dig more and I find out human acctualy just need 4 hours sleep but must meet it quality. And the most important, human body will completly recover energy while we slept in the dark.

Hi ungu.
Well that happens very often with me as well. For me, I have control over when I go to sleep but I can not decide on when to wake up back on usual days. Only on fridays when I have classes at 8:30 in the morning, I manage to wake up early. And in winters it gets even tough to wake up in the morning. So far I have not skipped classes but I think I will when it gets colder. Anyways have a nice day and good night

Hi ungu..
But eventually the winters will come right. Unfortunately we dont get any holidays or session break for winters. And talking about rain, it rained here tonight. I am feeling so sleepy but I have to study for my tomorrow's exams. I cant wait for the exams to end...

Hi ungu89, I would be more tired if I sleep for more than eight hours. I don't have any knowledge the reason I'm exhausted if sleeping too long. It's weird that six hours sleep is just nice for me to get energetic. May be I can't have proper rest on account of the disturbance of the non stop nightmare the whole night That's why longer time of sleep I'm still tired. I need nap in the afternoon to gain energy of course
Happy posting

most probably the congested activities during your camping causing you to have variable sleep. Insufficient rest properly would make you exhausted after back to home. No wonder you had such a long sleep for that day I would sleep soundly and longer as well after back from my long journey trip

Your body is forcing you to catch up on your sleep. if functions best if it gets at least 6 hours sleep per day and for many of us 8 hours are needed.

I agree that we need to sleep at least 6 hours any less and our bodies definitely struggle to function. Research does state that we need 7.5 - 8 hours of sleep per night.
Ung, dear do not fret, it is 1:46 AM here in Arizona. I am still up with no plans to go to bed in the immediate future.

Hi there,
I think your body is just making up with all those lost sleeping hours since you always turn in late at nights.Hopefully you are wide awake and shining now and have enough time to finish your assignment. Cheers!

It could be that you have been depriving yourself of enough sleep, so now your body is trying to make up for the sleep deficit. In the past, I have been guilty of doing this where during the week I would only get a few hours of sleep usually between 4 - 6 hours. Then, I would tend to sleep in on the weekends because I was so tired.

Sleeping for so many hours can be explained.I have done some research and even experienced it . I usually sleep for such long hours is one if i am on some medication or two if i am on my laptop for too long. Working on your laptop can make your body more drained than a physical activity could.( Thats what i found out online)

nehalkuut, I had not seen that sitting in front of a laptop make you more tired. I had read that using electronics like your laptop at night can interfere with your sleep cycle because the bright light of the monitor effects the body sleep / wake cycle.
I do agree that taking medications can make you more tired. I have noticed this myself that it can effect how much you sleep. So, you really need to be careful about taking medications especially if you need to get up early the next day.
ung, I would agree that I too spend a lot of time in front of my laptop. I think if we took a poll we would find that the majority of us spend a huge portion of the day in front of their laptop. I do think that eye strain is more possible than fatigue from using our laptops. Eye strain can be prevent by increasing the font size so our eyes are not constantly straining to read small print.

I have been a person that is able to sleep for more than 12 hours from time to time. However, most of the time when I do that, I have to say that I am utterly exhausted when I get to that point. You see, earlier in the fall I was having to get up very early every day to make a drive of an hour each day and it was something that was completely wearing me out. I would then sleep for 12-13 hours on the days during the weekends.

Well, I am very much in the same boat with you here. My sleep schedule is so off. I really do struggle to sleep at night. I am beginning to think a lot of it has to do with my environment. I live in an apartment in not the best area of town. We have had some frights here at night along with the night there are always noise. People coming home at all hours of the night, and especially Friday and Saturday nights people come home in the middle of the night making so much noise.
Most of the time even when I am starting to feel sleepy if I go to bed, I will find the pure darkness to actually make me feel wide awake. Then, I am laying in bed and I no longer feel sleepy. Even if I do manage to start to drift off to sleep, I am frequently jolted back awake by some noise of the night. It is so annoying.
I keep trying to reset my sleep schedule as I tend to go to sleep at odd hours. It just seems like it is all in vein. So far, I have not been successful.
Regardless of the time that I go to sleep, I tend to sleep 8 - 12 hours on a regular basis. It is so frustrated. I am not sure if I am still suffering from being anemic, so I am not sure if that is why I am sleep so much. I just know that if I wake up to go to the bathroom sometimes I will notice the time; although, i know that I should get up I cannot wake up rather I tend to go back to bed.
I have done research, and I have tried to follow some of the tips. I have cut out caffeine since they say that can really cause troubles with your sleep cycle. The issue is that I tend to get migraine's and the only things that helps is the prescription strength Excedrin which contains Excedrin. I do know that if I take it at night for a migraine I can pretty much count that I will be up for the next 6 - 8 hours.
I understand how you feel when the whole day feels like it gets away from us. There are plenty of times that I will sleep most of the day.
Maybe, we need to form a club, and help each other to resolve our bad sleep habits. Either that our I need to move to another country that daytime / night time is more in sync with my sleep wake cycle. Even the kitty has learned not to attempt to wake me up early. He slept in with me too this morning. The odd thing is that Tigger will try to tell me that it is bedtime, and I still will not listen to him. Instead, I tend to stay up way past my imaginary bedtime. (^^) (devilish look).

Yes, Tigger has already hinted that it is past bed time. He got tired waiting for me to go to be so he curled up, and fell asleep next to me on the couch.
I have had health issues of the past, and I am wondering it that has to do with why I tend to sleep so much. I try to wake up, but sometimes I just want to lay in bed snuggling with Tigger. Then, I will tend to fall back asleep. Sometimes, I wonder if this is due to me frequently waking up after a REM sleep cycle. It is like I still feel sleepy even if I have already slept enough hours. The odd part is that when I only sleep about 6 hours it is easier to wake up even if I am still tired than it is to wake up after getting plenty of sleep and have reached REM sleep stage.

yes, i something can sleep until 12 hours, but not everyday,
always do it on weekend, because that time there is not so many work i have to do. i just rest in my room.
but still.. what???? doing nothing... i think it really bad to our health to with sleeping so many hours.
