Have you ever traveled alone?

I feel such a need to escape somewhere far away, to just do only the things I want, without anybody to remind me from daily life... I have a lot of great friends and a wonderful boyfriend. But I want to think only at me for some days, to not feel the duty of socializing, or maybe only with new people. To do it my way.
I was traveling alone for a few times, but only in my country. And I suppose it's different when you are not used to the places.
Have you ever traveled alone? How far? How was it? Would you do it again?

Yes a lot of times. My sisters will just know that I posted photos in Facebook of my whereabouts. LOL. that's my crazy me. One time they will just know that I have been to this place. One time I am there.. and another there. But they knew my trip outside the country. I can not hide that. and yes, I was just alone. I traveled along thru sleeping bus from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. I was in the sleeping bus for 2 days. LOL

Oh yes Miss Deazil, I think I have learned exploring about myself and my life when I got older. I was not like this before I was so not adventurous. But when I learned that I can be... then I did it. Maybe, I was pampered too much by my bf, that wherever I went he would surely be there. Hmmm... Who knows he might been with me in these adventures without me knowing it. That's why I kept safe. OH yes Miss Deazil I think I am just starting my life now. just starting...

Travelling alone is a cool thing to do. In fact, I did it a few times, in some foreign places. I like it when I'm going without worrying the tight schedule, or waiting for others like we're in tours. I can meet some new people and hang around the places I enjoy as long as I want. It's okay when you're not use to the places, but you'll find unexpected excitement and surprises!

The new people you meet are one of the best things indeed. And you feel so available for all sort of experieces. I should certainly do it in some foreign places also. I have a plan for the next months, but I should earn some more money for this.

I love traveling alone... it might be a little dangerous... but the risk is all worth it... a few years ago... i went to Cebu City on a seminar... there was not enough budget for two participants... so the school decided to just send me... i booked my own hotel and plane ticket and everything went well... I wish i could do this again... but since i have kids now... i take them with me every time i need to travel...

I don't have kids yet, but I imagine that is (also) entartaining to go with them traveling. You can do again the things that you used to as a child, but from the other side, like building sand castles on the beach :)

My boss once told me one Monday morning that I will attend a seminar-training in Cebu and I have to leave early Tuesday morning. That was the first time I visited the place but it is not that scary to be alone since during the training, I've seen familiar faces.

I also find it that it might be a little scary. But not in a bad way. There are always unexpected problems and is difficult to decide yourself, without at least an advice. But it also gives you power and adrenalyne.

I want to go backpacking so bad. I want to have that feeling that i survived by my own without my parents looking after me. It would give me a feeling that i have grown up and can make decisions by my own. I would learn soo much if i traveled alone ,the mistakes i would make ,would teach me for my future.

Soo true. I felt so suffocated before 18 years old, not that I haven't enough freedom, but I should always ask for permission and explain with who I go and how much I stay and so on... Like you are not a complete human being.

Yes, I have traveled alone a few times. I was alone, not really because I wanted to, but that was the way things turned out to be. I don't mind being alone, on the contrary, it sort of inspires me! I have a few trips planned for this year and I intend to enjoy those trips, as I see it as a kind of opportunity.

These days I travel with my disabled son and my daughter. When I was a young person I happily traveled on my own. At age 18 years old I traveled around Europe by train. I stayed in youth hostels. When I was 19 years old I traveled alone to Tunisia. I traveled around the world when I was aged 20 years old mostly on my own. It was in the Maldives that I found danger on a lonely beach. That was in 2005. My last trip alone happened in 2006 and it has been my best trip so far. It was to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.

I travel alone quite a lot. At first I started traveling alone because none of my friends were interested in traveling in the same way I was. It was either travel alone or do not travel at all. I choose to travel alone. It has been an amazing experience. I have grown and forced myself to become more outgoing. Traveling has really changed my life for the better.
Nowadays I am meeting more travellers along the way and using hospitality websites such as couchsufing so I am not really alone very much. I have travelled across Canada in parts by myself and throughout Europe.
I would travel by myself in a heartbeat.

Well, I have been traveling a lot in our country and ere were occasions that I was alone. I do not worry much since its my country. I have also traveled to Europe but at that time I have a companion. The only time that I traveled alone outside our country was when I traveled to Maldives. It was partly business and pleasure. I did not worry much about the travel as everything was in order.

When I was younger I often travelled alone. I also lived and worked in other European countries when I was in my 20's. Most of the time I travelled on my own and I never regretted that, because I had a lot of interesting experiences. In 1999/2000 I worked in Estonia and when my job was over I travelled around in the country for a while. It was winter and very cold, but I still enjoyed in the trip a lot. I did the same thing in Scotland, Poland and Italy. Today I wouldn't do the same thing because I am married now and my husband and I travel together. I liked travelling alone in the past, but I think that it is more fun to travel with my husband and share the experiences with him.

Yes I did, once it was 6 hours trip and the other...TEN! That's right. It's not that fun in a way that after two hours we really start to feel lonely but I wouldn't change anything if I turned back time. Traveling is soul search and I did my share while traveling so far, not to mention that I did the same thing to come back home so...

I experienced travelling alone but it was for work but never for leisure. I don't think I can travel alone for a vacation. That would be too lonesome. Vacation is meant to be fun and exciting but how can I do it if I am alone. But of course, I've known some who are too adventurous to do it. And they really succeed. If you are the friendly type of person and can enjoy life without the need of any companion then, I think you'll be just fine.

I have never done it but have known a few who do it regulary. She is so used to do it that she is going at least once a month (a friend of mine). I dunno how she gets off from her job so much, and the cost much be high. I wish I had the resources and confidence to travel all over alone.
